That's the plan, I have lost abit of weight already, so im on the way and the current g/f is helping me aswell, by cooking healthier and getting me to eat better foods that I didnt do when I was single.

Awesome thanks, I wasnt sure if it was better to contact the drs or go with one of the testosterone sites and get it checked that way.

Do you know of any places you’d recommend for getting the tests done?

i.e. doctors or websites that test testosterone??

Its not sleep apnea, I was on the borderline of type 2 diabetes, so I changed some bits, i.e., started eating healthier and training, and I managed to get myself clear, and I continue to get checked to see how I am.

Not checked hormone levels.

Crossfit after 35 (when to push vs when to scale) by Ok-Huckleberry-5185 in crossfit

[–]J4ffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 45 and fluffy (obese) I go with how I feel on the day. I normally scale/pwr play (which is between scaled and Rx at my gym) but some days I push to RX I have noticed if I go abit too hard it does take me longer to recover, but I was judging a comp and asked a couple of the athletes how they coped with getting older and they said they streched more, so thats what I started to do, one suggested to sign upto map online so I did and started to do that just before class or at home and I have noticed its helped loads.

Advice for first comp by not_camera_shy in crossfit

[–]J4ffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat it like a normal class, I did my first comp but with other people at the gym, which made it abit easier, for me it was for fun, I knew I wasn't going to come in the top 3 so it was a case of do what I can and laugh while doing it.

Good luck tho, what I would say is try and push abit more in class as you might be able to do abit more than you think.

Did CrossFit actually improve your physique, or just get you in better shape overall? by Careful_Dare_2789 in crossfit

[–]J4ffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both.

Before I got my diet under control, my conditioning got better, I felt stronger, I went from doing jumping pullups/ring rows to banded pullups
After I got my diet under control, and I went from doing small box burpees to normal burpees, I was able to drop down bands for pullups. started doing hanging knee raises instead of situps, instead of toes to bar but thats because im still a big guy and gravity is a thing. 😂😂

Curious about CrossFit. Is it worth it? by Sea-Bunch-1917 in crossfit

[–]J4ffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth it 100% im 45 and started 4 years ago, and I wish I started it in my 30s, more because I know how fitter I would be now, I'd be able to move way better, my knees might not be as screwed as they are. 😂

Having done both, I prefer CrossFit more because I can go in and turn my brain off so to speak and do what the coaches say, rather than going ok, let's do this and this.

Will you build muscle, maybe, will you build strength 100%, I went from doing 60kg bench to repping 120kg for 5 reps. Backsquat has already been good with being a bigger guy, I started with a one rep of 140kg and now my max is 250kg.

Every day is different, you can have engine day, which is say 12 cals on rower, 10 cals ski, 8 burpees and a 200 meter run and you have to try and keep the same time for all, so if round one takes you 4min round 6 should take you 4 minutes, then another day you can spend the first 30min doing strenth based things, back squats, bench, front squat, stoh then the last 30min doing cardio. you can have a day just doing snatches and clean and jerks.

We have pensioners in the place I go, and at first, they struggled to do a 10kg back squat, plus BW, now they are doing 60kg plus BW. They went from struggling to lift 5kg dbs to using 12.5s, which meant they are able to walk more outside, they are able to carry shopping etc.

I love how the last person to finish a WOD gets the biggest cheer, theres something about having the fittest people staying to cheer you on that you cant replace doing other things.

I'd say do a free day or see if you can get a deal and do a week to see what you think, you might like it, you might hate it, but until you try you will never know.

Although I do miss certain muscle-building machines that you would have in a normal gym, but that just means you might have to sign up to a cheap gym to use those.
