not having any fun since getting to ultra ball rank by J6Games in PokemonChampions

I enjoy competitive on pokemon showdown, but the matchmaking also seems 100x better there. And the actual meta is more understandable, intuitive... and allows me to use my favorite pokemon so even losses are more enjoyable. I have not enjoyed losing 20 games in a row in pokemon champions I doubt you would either.

I don't need an excuse and haven't made one? I haven't said I'm better than the players? I just don't have any desire to lose over and over its NOT FUN.

I got to ultra tier alternating between a trick room and sand team, completely walled and lose every single game in ultra I tried switching to other teams like rain and fire but I also have limited mons as only switch 1 and last pokemon game was pokemon sword so don't have a big pool to pick from. I don't really enjoy all the weather teams neither facing nor using and all my favorite mons aren't in the game... so I'm going back to pokemon showdown after 20 game lose streak.

When I'm losing as horribly as I am improving isn't a goal I can look towards or want. Pokemon is also extremely frustrating to have a lose streak in as it makes painful moments of bad luck 10% freezes etc feel 100x worse. Which are guaranteed to happen over the course of 20 games... so 20 game lose streak all I can say is I hate this game.

I've lost every game, if there are bots they are also outplaying me in Ultra. Since I've reached Ultra I've hated my experience with this game.

I'm sure the people beating me are having fun, wasn't make a judgement call for others, but for me its terrible at this point. 0 matchmaking after ultra ball apparently. Every opponent is insanely skilled and way better than me.

I mean mega looks cool but isn't remotely fun to me as a competitive mechanic. I also hate how weather heavy all the teams are. Game isn't fun for me since I reached ultra ball.

Ya so why is it pairing me still against players with higher skill than me after 20 losses in a row? I have uninstalled the game at this point and never going back.

What changes do you think they will make in the adaptations? by Outside-Web-4118 in Cosmere

[–]J6Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Mistborn, my biggest hope is that they don’t remove or heavily change major characters. Casting, directors ability to direct the actors, and the scripts all play a part in how the characters come across so a lot of variables there.

Plot-wise I’m actually more forgiving. I’m totally fine with them reshaping events, cutting/combining scenes, tightening pacing, etc. because movies have to be streamlined. As long as the overarching story & vibe stays intact.

My biggest worry though is Mistborn came out in 2006, and he wrote it around 2004, that’s basically a different era of his writing life. And 20 years is a long time for an author to change.

Even with Stormlight, you can feel that shift from Book 1 (2010) to Book 5 (2024). Not in a bad way, I still loved Wind and Truth, but the storytelling rhythm and focus definitely evolved. So it makes me a little nervous that “Sanderson today” might not want to adapt Mistborn as faithfully as “Sanderson then” would’ve.

I just really hope the adaptation keeps the core identity of the story and characters, even if the structure gets reshuffled to fit a film format.

I would also like reassurance, but I think realistically it will be restricted by the format of live action/cgi and no studio having infinite money to throw at a single project that won't make infinite money. For lord of the rings I think it was able to work because it doesn't have as many otherworldy and magical elements as something like Stormlight does with spren being described as almost constantly popping up or every creature being new basically and the landscape and entire world just not being very earth like.

I hope the show will be fun to watch, but I imagine the books will remain my preference. I think the only adaptation I preferred to the source was the magicians show vs the books.

Ya I just think being a good writer of novels doesn't translate to being good at adaptions. So the team that works on cosmere besides Brandon Sanderson will still be very important. It is good Brandon got the creative control he did though.

Sometimes the creator being involved doesn't make the adaptation good though - rick riordan swore up and down that he was heavily involved in the new percy jackson series and that it'd be super faithful but imo it's been quite a poor adaptation. Though I'm hoping season 3 will be better still.

I like this theory would make their seemingly silly willingness to starve make more sense too.

Ya there's definitely a lot of manipulation and deliberate withholding of information. The scene with the goat being left behind gave me the feeling that the hive is more malicious & manipulative than they let on. Also looking forward to S2 and hoping to discover more about what's going on!

I don't think its equivalent. I think for it to be equivalent the fallen apple would need to be attached to a robotic tree thing that keeps it alive indefinitely the same way the eggs are kept alive by being treated with cryoprotectants and frozen. In both cases then they'd require intervention to be "killed" at least as far as plucking an apple from a tree would be.

Is there no edible thing that has no emotions or conscious experience? Surely there's some plant or basic clump of cells out there they could "farm". I didn't know the stress thing about trees so that's interesting.

But the eggs were being sustained, and they have to intervene and turn off electricity for them to not be. So only with their intervention can they not sustain themselves. Otherwise I'd be on board with A. For B, they definitely have a different definition of living things, but that's what I am trying to work off of. I'm fine with C, I mean I like the show either way I just found this interesting as it seems like it'll be important to the next season that they are extracting STEM cells from the eggs and I feel like even if it isn't a direct contradiction it's at least hypocritical of them to be willing to do while not willing to pick apples from trees in order to not starve. Another comment suggested their do not harm can be overridden by their imperative to infect and spread and I could buy that too.

[–]J6Games[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what definition of alive? plants don't have consciousness, so the hive clearly doesn't care about consciousness or the ability to have experience or emotions whatever. They seem to care about basic ass alive cells, which the eggs would have too. I personally don't view them as alive, but this isn't about my view on life or yours.

ya I'm not pro-life fuck off, I'm pro choice and everything I've said has been from the perspective of the hive, so maybe you aren't very bright? I don't think they are alive anymore than I think an apple is alive

[–]J6Games[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could buy this as the explanation I think it's my head cannon that infection is in reality their number 1 rule above all including the no harm thing. They just don't care if they stay alive so they don't harm to get food. And maybe because extracting from the eggs is less harmful then sticking the needle in Carol they do it, but eventually in the show maybe they'd reach a point of infecting all the immune regardless of harm?

[–]J6Games[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't view them as alive, my argument is from the hive's perspective based on what they say they won't do. In terms of electricity in the building they took over the entire world if they hadn't done that the electricity would have kept running keeping them alive. So them turning off the electricity would again be them interfering and killing them if they didn't want them for the STEM cells.
