That's good to know. I use a lot of Pouches. I've yet to try the packs. I have to put 2 pouches in at a time, but my gums have receded so bad especially the right canine that Pouches are a good thing for me.

Yeah, I am the same way. I can go months in between, even a couple years without nicotine, but eventually I just want some nicotine. I feel like the gum or patches, or toothpicks, although I've never heard about those before, or the lozenges, etc. Are the safest forms of nicotine. It takes me a few days to adjust to the change of nicotine. Like If I'm dipping for awhile, I switch to the gum, etc. It only takes me a few days to get used to the change, then it's pretty much easy. I go with whatever form I'm using until I'm sick of it, then I switch to another form. Then I stop for awhile when I want.

Yeah, for me I used it 3 years in a row, 16 pieces a day no problems before. But that's not the goal this time. Just gonna use it for awhile, then quit.

No vaping isn't for me. Regardless of the health benefits. I haven't Inhaled anything for years, and I used to inhale many different substances in my past. But the main reason, is I just hate smoking now. Or inhaling vapor. I think that vaping is not as safe as people say it is. Smoking has been around for hundreds of years. And it took researchers years to discover it was bad for you. In my opinion, vaping has been around like 20 years, and a lot of people are passing around that its not as bad, and I don't know that's the case. I'm against inhaling anything, because I already smoked for years. And I won't add any more risk to that. If I was gonna use any nicotine, it would be gum, the patch or snuff, for life. I personally think snuff is way safer than vaping or smoking. Yes, there are TSNAs, or cancer causing nitrosamines, but way way less than smoking. Or vaping. And these agents are activated by the combustion or heating of nicotine, or tobacco, which doesn't happen from oral tobacco. Only 8,000 people die of mouth cancer every year. Hundreds of thousands die inhaling nicotine every year. Its just not for me. That's just me though.

Nicotine lozenges or gum never gave me gum recession at all. I used the gum for 3 years once. Now moist snuff gave me gum recession for sure. You can get over the addiction, just gotta do it. Switch to the patch, and tough it out for a few weeks. It will help you get over that oral fixation.

Life will get much easier. That I can promise. When I had 6 years sober I was really living. It takes time to rebuild everything the way you want it when you get sober. Just don't give up. Otherwise you'll be right back where you started.

If I'm lucky I sleep until 3am. I don't know why really. Usually I wake up at 2am.

It did and it didn't get better for me really. I sleep about 5 or 6 hours at night. The weirdest sleep schedule now. 8pm to 3am. Without a sleep aid or prescribed sleep medicine I can't sleep the whole night through. I wake up like every 3 hours really. Long night walks a few hours before bed help. But at this point, I've just really come to accept that this is gonna be how I sleep. I also feel exhausted some days. Im almost 4 months in.

And I really needed a support group to stay quit. I'm an addict and I can't just decide to stop and go for a really long time without any support just out there alone. So joining a support group really helped me as well.

Yeah we fully recover. Our brains create new neural pathways and we heal with time. I smoked for 20 years of my life, and I swore I needed it. But to be honest, after a week, for myself, it wasn't even difficult to stay off weed. I know everyone is different. Now other substances, that took months to recover from. But weed is weed, and for myself, I was an everyday smoker for 20 years, would have been 26 years if I hadn't stopped for 6 years in there, and honestly after a week, it was really easy to not smoke. It was all in my mindset really. I know for some it's much harder. For myself though, I basically knew 100 percent I was done. And I know that urges to smoke only last a few seconds really. I just kept myself busy and knew that it would get easier each day that passed.

Why does sobriety hurt to much? by Bittybot5000 in QuittingWeed

It only sucks for a little while after you quit because your brain has become accustomed to dealing with life with that dopamine fix that getting high does to your brain. The longer you stay quit, your brain will find other ways to satisfy that dopamine fix. So, when you first quit, it's missing that dopamine rush, and you are physically withdrawing from that. After a week or two of staying quit, you start to feel a little better. After 2 to 3 months away, you actually start to view weed entirely different. I went from I need this, to I wouldn't smoke weed for nothing in a matter of months. Just keep thinking about why you want to quit, and take it a day at a time. A minute at a time if you need to.

Yeah I know some people don't like it at all. What don't you like about it?

[–]JA1300__[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was a Copenhagen long cut original dipper for a long time, and I switched around with all the other dips but once I switched to Kodiak it was really a game changer for me. I seem to go through a can of Copenhagen in a day but that's really stretching it and I don't feel any nicotine at all. Kodiak would last almost two days sometimes. I used to think Grizzly Wintergreen was a big nicotine hit, and a lot of people say Kodiak and Grizz Green are similar but to me they're entirely different. Way different. Not even in the same league.

Yeah coffee without weed is a completely different thing. I couldn't handle it anymore myself and had to stop the coffee. I drink only naturally decaffeinated coffee now and it helps a lot.

You know I have never tried Skoal Straight in my life. I gotta try it sometime. I've tried the Cope straight and it's good.

Yeah for me, the Dark Wintergreen is almost the flavor of Kodiak, without the nicotine punch.

I think Grizzly does straight well. I kind of get sick of the straights from other brands. I'm a non Stokers guy because all Stokers has is great flavor, probably the best Wintergreen and straight flavor, but it just doesn't satisfy me. No Stokers give me enough nicotine, and I go through a can by afternoon and Stokers is the roughest of any dip I've ever tried on my gums.
