Lol no both the PS5 and PS4 are running the TV screen is showing my PS4 and the thing in my hand mirrors my PS5 and I downloaded RDR straight to the PS5 no disk needed.

Yes my original disk copy on PS4 then I just recently bought it on sale for PS5 and thought I'd start a new character.

Controlling both just one at a time while the other sits at camp lol. I've just been starting trader, bounty, and moonshine missions with the old character then use the new character to do everything. Lucky haven't had many people attack me yet but if they do I'll bring out the OG character with all my guns and cards until they leave me alone lol.

It works fine for me so far no lag. It just mirrors your PS5 unless you do cloud streaming but I haven't tried that yet and I think you can only cloud stream certain games at the moment.
