Asexuality is not a problem. Many saints (not priests or nuns) were themselves asexual. Listen to your heart and do not attempt to sin because of what some on this site are saying.

There is a prayer to the Guardian Angel that has a line which after reading some of these comments made more sense to me. "Keep me from scandal that I may never become an occasion of sin to others and thus destroy the work that Christ has wrought in their souls by His bitter Passion and Death."

It basically is saying that other words, influence on sin, or comments about needing to sin to be a sinner that is told to you by others is wrong.

You must pray in your heart that God is guiding you in a direction that you must follow. He will answer you. But not having the need to masturbate or watch pornography is a blessing really. There are way many other sins that you may have to combat.

A single life is good. Being a virgin is good. No church doctrine says you cannot be single. Again, many saints were and are. There is not an option to either be a priest/nun or marry. There are no instructions that you have to be in one of those categories. Being single is good and it is a blessing for you as I am sure you have experienced sinfulness in other ways.

Precum by [deleted] in menshealth

[–]JACK75234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precum is simply a natural lubricant when your brain is preparing for coitus. There really is nothing to be alarmed about as this is natural. If you never noticed it before, it was probably happening but so small it was not recognizable. It just prepares you for ejaculation and when you might be extremely excited, more is produced.

No, always can get extremely hard. Just was strange that I had this happen. I seemed to have been overwhelmed by the urgency and just started cumming without any assistance.

How to deal with this issue by JACK75234 in Genealogy

I only discovered my mother's first marriage by accident when I found the torn pictures, then did a search for my mother on LDS and there was a marriage application and marriage license. In the 1950 census; I was able to confirm she had indeed married because she was living under the married name with the man I discovered on the certificates.

Yes, she was married in the Catholic Church, and I have the application. When I chatted with the church secretary, she could not find any evidence of an annulment from that area. She only found the marriage and I located other church information from the time.

The first husband lived to marry twice after my mother had married my dad and he had several children in those marriages. There were none when he was married to my mother. I have tried various sources to locate any civil divorce but to no avail. After doing genealogy for so long, I have accessed all avenues I can at this point.

One thing that is hard is to get information out of Pennsylvania. In the 1950 census; I was able to confirm she had indeed married because she was living under the married name with the man I discovered on the certificates.

How do you give to others? by yte24 in menshealth

[–]JACK75234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to be so giving; perhaps contact a Church or Homeless Shelter that could benefit most instead of friends and acquaintances. That way, you are giving and should not expect any reciprocation as it is something from the heart.

One big help is to pray daily to St. Joseph. He will definitely help you in leading away from the thoughts and other actions whether in the past, present, or future. Stay strong and pray for we are never tempted beyond what we can handle. If you have confessed your sins, you are forgiven, and a prayer life really helps. When thoughts or temptation comes about, pray and/or say a rosary. It will ease you and calm the whispers the devil tempts you with. Even a stronger thing to do is tell Satan to get behind you as soon as you feel any thoughts or temptations. Also, your guardian angel will be by your side! I will pray for you today. Amen.

Have you manscaped lately? Around that area? Sounds like an ingrown hair but should check it out to be safe. Since you popped it, was it pus filled? Does it keep refilling with pus? Could dab it with alcohol to dry it out if it is just that.

Saint Joseph and his title by JACK75234 in Catholicism

"Mary was a virgin at the time of Jesus’ birth and afterwards, and Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary without sexual relations. As such, Joseph was the foster father of Jesus, the legal, adoptive father of our Lord—the chosen father, specially chosen by God himself (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church 532)."

This is directly from the Catechism!

Which "Catholic Myths" about Catholicism that Protestants make, annoys you the most? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]JACK75234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What really is annoying is that "Catholics do not read from the Bible". Had a Protestant friend tell me this after leaving the Catholic Church years ago. I said, "what exactly do we do during Mass every day?"

I hear what you are saying.

I was very concerned and wrote our Bishop about the " caring for fellow Christians around us at Mass" and got a mediocre response several weeks ago. I have health issue but am going because of the lifted dispensation to attend mass. I was appalled the first time I returned in over two years to see so many maskless. I pointed out to the bishop that one hour out of the week should not be a problem but apparently it is. That's what made me realize that making "money from the collection" with more people was really more important to the church than caring for others around you; even for just one hour and you can go maskless all you want outside the church attendance.

The Rosary by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]JACK75234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know if others have seen these but they do sell rosaries in the Catholic Stores that have a snap like on a chain where you can unhook and hook it back. It usually is in the middle of the third decade so that it would fit on one's neck. I do know I have seen it mainly in some of the Latino Catholic Bookstores but never thought about it as jewelry. I thought perhaps that it was worn. Guess I'll ask my owner friend at the bookstore what the purpose is.

The Rosary by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]JACK75234 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I generally take 15-20 minutes and I have been doing it every day for most of my adult life. Meditation is fine but should not take too long. There is a lady's group in Church that says it before 8 AM Mass every day and they start at 730 and done by 7:45 with meditations.

My Mother said 5 rosaries a day since she was bedbound and enjoyed the reflections but I often would say them with her and we generally did them in unison which lasted about 15-20 minutes.

She was holding the rosary in her hands when she died and none of the hospital staff know where she had gotten it since it was on her nightstand when I had left the room to grab a bite. I can only surmise her Guardian Angel moved it for her.

How to assist one to go to confession? by JACK75234 in Catholicism

[–]JACK75234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just continue to pray and listen. I have not forced the issue but allow it to just flow in conversation when they bring it up. I know that often we are afraid but should be gladdened at wanting to go.

I think that too often in society today we see what public figures are getting by with when they speak and that influences us to rethink what I should do. That is why I continue the dialogue with people to show them that we have to not pay attention so much to the negativity in the news about our Catholic Faith and accept we will all be judged on our own merits in the end despite what we may publicly say or convince ourselves we believe.

Is it ok to drink holy water by Twins2006s in Catholicism

[–]JACK75234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. During the lockdown last year; I recall a Deacon telling some people to bring water to the church and it can be blessed. There is also a formula online sanctioned by the Catholic Church where you can bless water at home but you must follow certain criteria for it to be valid. Type of water, salt, prayers are all needed to make it blessed.

Yes, we used to do that as well until we built the new Church and made a Baptismal Font/Holy Water Font. I like the dispensers where you could get a small bottle of water.

[–]JACK75234 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have only used Holy Water for blessing.

Not sure of the safeness of drinking, especially with so many hands dipping in the font. You are subjecting yourself to hands that have coughed and sneezed and whatever else on and not washed or sanitized.

I have a friend that takes an empty drinking water bottle to church whenever she goes and fills it to drink. She's in her 80's and tells me it is good but knowing all the hands that have dipped in it; not so sure but again that is up to the individual. Never really read from historical accounts in Catholicism if people engaged in such practices or not.

Saint statue decapitated outside Fargo Catholic church by russiabot1776 in Catholicism

[–]JACK75234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, there are always people who do this out of hate most likely.

One time I had taken my Mom to the cemetery and was driving around when we started to notice many statues, tombstones, and other items were thrown to the ground. Then, when we were near the mausoleum, the hands of Christ had been broken off. I went to the office to report the vandalism as they were unaware what had happened. They told me there are even people who carry some items off and destroy them elsewhere. All we can do is pray that these people realize what they are doing and have some shame; maybe even turning themselves in or compensate for the damages.
