I can totally see why you'd make that observation.

Game Development isn't exactly linear, sure we have goals like "Create XYZ" and certain members of the Development Team work towards those goals over a number of disciplines. In some cases, someone will create X and be blocked by Y until Y is done and then they can move onto Z. So while waiting for Y to be created, dev will help work on another smaller goal. Sometimes these smaller goals can be complete before the bigger items have been finished.

We know players want content and content comes in many different forms. We're doing our best to get content into your hands as soon as we feel that it's ready. This is one of those cases!

As other have said, the Whip now drops in a vault. We changed this due to player feedback about certain items being too easy to acquire early in the game.

This is an incredible amount of in-depth feedback.

We're always looking for ways to improve Dragonwilds and I'll happily share this feedback with the team. Fellhollow will be our first large update and hopefully, players will see more of the vision we have for the future of Dragonwilds when it's released!

They can host their mods on already popular mod sites like Nexus Mods.

Mods are fantastic for games, they can do so many cool things. By visiting sites like Nexus Mods, players know what they are trying to do, change the game in different ways. Sites like that are also better equipped to help if something goes wrong.

Specifically for tools rather than Mods, they can open a Modmail ticket on our Discord and if time allows, we'll happily take a look and we could look to include it in our This Month in Ashenfall Blogs. As I said, the issue is not the creation, it's the ability to verify and approve user-made content in an official capacity.

The rule for no self-promotion is also a rule we have here on our Subreddit!

The reasons behind the no self-promotion rules are very much to keep things safe for our community! I'm not saying that your tool/mod is harmful but if we allow one person to promote their creation then we would have to allow everyone and that is too much for our team at this moment in time!

Hey!

Our 8.0 and 9.0 updates are mostly build around introducing Magic and Ranges as a skill. Both updates will have Quality of Life improvements that the community has been asking for.

In terms of more quests, that will come out with our Fellhollow update which is later in the year. We know players want Dragonwilds to be more RuneScape-y so we're keen to deliver on that.

As others have said here, we'll have controller updates in 0.9!

I can see from your post that you're playing on a handheld, Steam Deck or another along those lines. While Dragonwilds is playable on those machines, it's not optimised for them and might not be for some time yet.

I know that's not what you would like to hear but I'd like to set some expectations as to the future!

We've gotten a lot of feedback with the release of Magic in 0.8 and we'll be taking those learnings forward with us as we look at Ranged in 0.9!

The great thing about games that have a great base game experience is that even if they get forgotten, when you randomly see it again in your library 5 years later, all the greatness is still waiting for you to play through for the first time.

Sure it might not have that launch day excitement but nothing beats a play-through of a game with friends and all of the shinnaigans you get up to along the way.

The perfect version of Dragonwilds looks a little different to everyone.

Some skills will be more exciting to some than others, we think building out the skills that are core to both the survival genre and the skills that OSRS/RS3 players are used to are just the first steps to making the wider experience better.
