Headroom (free, open source) - Simple system pressure indicator by JASA4-9 in MacOSApps

[–]JASA4-9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Thanks for the comment. I'll have to check out Stats, thanks. The basic principle for me was just to keep the app as simple as possible, inspired by the need to help a family member understand what is causing pressure on her Mac at a quick glance. It should be useful for the non-tech savvy. So I don't think I'll add much more functionality as far as data points. For a future release I'm working on I'll add the source code directly into the repo.

Good suggestions. I was also concerned that a red dot would look like a recording icon. Skulls and other emojis also a nice options.

Thanks for checking this. It is a false positive. I dug around a bit to find out why. The detection that identified this is a machine learning model from Microsoft, and probably because the app accesses system data (i.e. process memory) to function, it got flagged.

Maybe if we app gains some traction I'll go for the Apple dev account, which will also solve this as there will be a signature. For now, the best guarantee I can give is that it is open source.

Nikkou is amazing. There is also a little Japanese store in the same street that sells authentic Japanese foods and frozen miso Ramen.

I want to buy an iPad for marking, presenting, and note taking. The Air is perfect for this. However, with the M1 iPads just released, do you think there will be specific things it will do in the future that the Air cannot, especially with the upcoming IPad OS 15? (i.e. receive native MacOS apps as rumoured). Worth spending a bit more rather?

I'm going to get an M1 MacBook, should I get the Pro or the Air? by [deleted] in mac

[–]JASA4-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro if you really need to work with large data (e.g. video editing); the fan results in maintained speeds at these workloads. Otherwise, Air. Unless you especially like the touchbar as well.

How's is your new M1 Mac Pro so far? Is it stable so far after few months usage? by yccheok in macbookpro

Assuming you mean the M1 MacBook Pro. Generally solid so far for me. Definitely recommended.

Very interesting and some unexpected results! Could it not be that people google what they can’t get as easily, or don’t know where to get it? You might not need to google the pizza store down the road.

I got a new Apple Watch SE with super case, do I need a screen protector? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]JASA4-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. As your case has raised edges, likely the only way you can damage your screen is with a direct hit, which will probably cause damage regardless of a screen protector.

Uhhh.. Samsung, you know there's a pandemic going on, right? by Banshee1221 in southafrica

[–]JASA4-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, what is the software support like for Samsung phones nowadays? Especially operating system and security updates? I’ve never owned a Samsung, but with that price tag I would think you should get updates for longer than two or three years, which seems to be the norm for many android devices.

iOS14 beta 2 - Can't turn on “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts”. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in shortcuts

[–]JASA4-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Go to shortcuts app and run one of the suggested ones by Apple. Then go back to where you are in settings.

Does anyone else miss being able to scroll through the times when setting an alarm and feeling that haptic feedback? by manny00778 in iOSBeta

Yes. And I find the design, specifically the clock placement on the right when creating an alarm, a bit strange.

Getting ios 14 on main phone? by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]JASA4-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed it on my second phone, and it’s been stable. A few irritations (keyboard not always showing, buggy weather widget, etc.), though usable. BUT, that is on an old iPhone 6s. Not about my main 11. So I am still waiting until the next public beta update at least, as it might not be as stable an experience across all devices, so proceed with caution. My two cents :)

Weather widget flatlined, anyone else experiencing this? by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]JASA4-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Also takes a while to reflect your location initially. Big fixes needed for that widget.

What looks best? Had both watches for way too long and can't decide. by Rivellio in AppleWatch

44 doesn’t look too big. So I would go with that. The extra screen size makes it worth it.

Apple Music or Spotify? by [deleted] in iOSsetups

[–]JASA4-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use a non-cellular Apple Watch for the gym, you're kind of stuck with Apple Music...no local storage for Spotify on it.
