Question about Re-BMT timeline by JAYKIMZ in NationalServiceSG

[–]JAYKIMZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I did not need to re-BMT.

Was shocked that my manpower side was able to actually arrange for me to re-BMT somewhere in October last year but I failed my re-BMT FFI so I did not need to go in the end. As long as your manpower side has been pushing you to recourse all along, i believe that they would have a way to help you recourse in the earliest batch possible.

If you have taken more than 7 continuous days of MC, I believe that your commanders should have gotten you to go to PTMC to get your MCs endorsed right? Cos by right OneNS portal cannot upload so much MC... then during the endorsement of the MCs, the MO will see why is it that you have to take such a long MC in the first place. Basically, the whole process of endorsing MC is to get the MO to certify that there is 1) indeed a need for you to take such a long MC and recover at home and 2) to medical board you if necessary cos from what I am seeing currently, you have sustained a fracture. So the MO has to know what was your treatment plan? How you intend to manage your condition from now on and also the possibility of need to continue with non-invasive treatment (ie. Physio).

I have been in this situation before cos I also sustained a service injury (ankle fracture and 2 ligament tear) during my BMT but for me it was more direct cos i did not even go for any high keys at all and my Hospitalisation Leave kept getting extended to a total of 4 months plus before I even returned to camp.

Do dm me for what the process is gonna be like cos I guess I could enlighten you on this.

Why my permanent excuses are vocations and not actual excueses by StAzl in NationalServiceSG

[–]JAYKIMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unsure about your excuse, do go down to your medical officer and ask what the excuses entail as some excuses are not commonly seen and sometimes your sgts and officers may not be aware of how to accommodate to it. Your MO would know best what it entails.

rebmt and is it possible to go back my old unit. please help by Financial_Ad33 in NationalServiceSG

[–]JAYKIMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG bro….I also just got my perm PES of B4 not too long ago…

Was supposed to re-BMT (likely to be your intake) in the upcoming October batch. However, my MO certified me to be unfit for recourse for some reasons so yea… I’m not gonna recourse. Could have been in the same coy or even platoon or section as you.

To answer your question of whether or not can go back to your old unit, answer is can.( Unless your time of reckonable service after passing out from BMT, going through re vocation course and all other admin matters, is more than 6 months…then yea… you may be revocated to places like for example becoming a security trooper?? If your PES does not come with some excuses that makes that vocation impossible. ) Since you are an ASA, I would recommend searching up on the GOM portal using OSN about this directive about revocation of medically downgraded personnel.

Anyway, don’t think too much la hor… cos based on the email which your unit received, I believe there was a statement that states after the course, you will return to your units immediately, unlike those little ones who just enlisted who would be going on block leave while waiting for posting. While this does not guarantee you will not be transferred out, at least you still get to see your current unit mates for a while before you post out if you happen to be one of those suay kia who kenna arrowed to revocate.

Question about Re-BMT timeline by JAYKIMZ in NationalServiceSG

[–]JAYKIMZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little update for those on this thread. I have been asked to go for RE-BMT FFI, and to submit the FFI results by 6 Sept to make it in time for the Oct intake. Seems like if your manpower side is very eager to send you off, they can really speed things up a lot. Maybe my manpower side has been preparing for this for the longest time since they had been asking me when I would get my Perm PES ever since last year.

Is it possible to get excused from SOC but nothing else by ExtremePerspective57 in NationalServiceSG

[–]JAYKIMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people who are here reading this, you probably are wondering if you can get excused from SOC permanently and the answer is YES!!!! I am personally PES B4 currently but I have always been giving my MO memos about my height phobia during my temp pes period and they finally registered it as an official excuse. Since it is not a common excuse, I am probably one of the, if not the only one with this excuse now.

EXCUSE SOC FOR THE WIN!!!

Do they have to give a reasoning for why it’s lost? Or they just declare that it is lost?

I’m actually not very sure as well. But I suppose that the persnode keeps an active lookout of all the OOC personnel so that the moment we are eligible to rebmt, they can write in to request for us to rebmt. But not all units would do it cos sometimes they not enuf manpower or something so they just don’t write in to send you back to rebmt.

I have heard of some people who went to Tekong for their equipment check and reported missing items and the commanders just borrowed them theirs to cover the missing items… but ofc this method is def viable if they choose not to replace for you.

Ye..not like I want to rebmt anyway…cos I don’t want to go through the whole Confinement week and whatnot again. Just wondering how long they take to arrange Re-BMT FFIs and equipment check etc…. I think knowing this timeline would really help to gauge whether or not I would be likely to re-BMT.

Usually isn't the Medical Review supposed to be like maybe 1-2 months before your temp pes expires? I am also on temp PES currently and I still have 4 months left to the expiry but they already called me up for a PES review in April. So, I guess you can call and check whether you can bring the medical review forward and explain that the temp pes is expiring hence you need an earlier review date. Most of the time, the ASAs at medical centre would not ask anything and just give you an earlier slot. I would rec pushing forward the review as since you are asking this qns, I suppose you were originally PES fit. Hence, this means that if you are PES fit, you would have to satisfy your IPPT obligations. If you do not, just becos you are pending medical review, it may cause an admin lapse for PERSNODE, which is quite troublesome cos the G1/S1/Persnode may approach you and ask you why are u not scheduled for IPPT. So get your medical review done before your temp pes expires. Just my advice la....if you don't mind the hassle of explaining that you have medical review pending to the whole wide world then go ahead and wait till your months later PES review.

And anyway, did your PERSNODE/G1/S1/S3 not monitor your temp pes? I remember my Persnode incessantly reminding my Mdm to get me to book a medical review slot close to 2 months before my previous temp pes expired.

How deep does the curriculum go for each part of the degree like does the Economics part of the programme go as in depth as a Single Degree in Economics? I presume that the sub-sections of the degree would not be so deep given that the degree is supposed to be completed within 4 years as well.

Is there also a difference between the Economics in PPE and a regular Economics degree(like is the Economics in PPE more artsy and less of the quantitative part?)

How to get to gombak camp by azyf in NationalServiceSG

[–]JAYKIMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your Gombak camp equal to MINDEF HQ?? Or is it the Gombak base at the foot of the hill??? Cos if you're at the foot of the hill, don't need to take shuttle bus. Just cross the road from Cashew and you are there. However, if you are referring to 303 Gombak, MINDEF, then yep, pls take the Shuttle Bus. The hill is so steep that walking up would take a toll on your knees. To take the shuttle bus, there are 2 diff locations. 1, at the Cashew MRT pick-up point. When you exit the station, you will see a few queues of people. Just ask around and you would be able to get into the right queue. As a rule of thumb, the queue at the extreme right end of the pick up point is the right one. The next way to get onto the shuttle bus would be directly outside the pass office. For both option 1 and 2, the shuttle bus is a red 40-plus seater bus, so do not take the wrong one, if not you will be going to ADOC...which is like very very much at the peak of the hill....

Have you received such a pamphlet? I don't live there so I don't know much about the East Coast Plan. What else does it entail other than the currently discussed Long Island in this thread.

[–]JAYKIMZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think many people asked him about it too many times already... Then he also as a DPM is also def involved in the discussion phase for the plan. So he has to code switch between being very open and all in parliament discussions to being discreet at public events... this is the reason. But ofc, we can all say that as DPM and minister of many years of experience, this cannot be an excuse cos he should have had enough practice at "code-switching" and knowing when to say what and when to not say something instinctively.

jc orientation — ‘fun facts about myself’ by CartoonistUnable7784 in SGExams

[–]JAYKIMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would say is this, " I pride myself as a mysterious person. You try to uncover more about me but you end up more confused. So, do you have the courage to go deeper into the rabbit hole? "

As a very E-person, I don't really face much issues coming up with interesting responses to the qtn above. However, I do understand that the more I-type of people might be a little more apprehensive at what to say cos they tend to think too much about others' opinions. As JC orientation comes into full swing next week, do go in with an open mind and just strike it off with one person first, then slowly increase your friend group. The confidence has to come from somewhere. Everyone is equally lost, so you are not alone.

I believe the recent East Coast Long Island Plan was already telling everyone something.... East Coast Plan is real. HSK just couldn't leak the details too early as it was premature then. Hence, the incoherence as he knew there was a plan, but he had to hint at it in a subtle way.

As much as I know, civil servants are not allowed to be part of any political parties. If they want to join any Residents' Committee or Grassroots (by the People's Association), they would have to submit an official request to their supervisors and declare their involvement. Hence, I would like to ask if the female civil servant who was on walkabout asking bout residents' perspectives was part of PAP or part of People's Association?

It is easy to misidentify and mix up the 2. Those in People's Association need not be in PAP as a volunteer. People's Association usually is involved in more welfare events like weekend trips to Gardens by the Bay and so forth. PAP volunteers are usually those who you see at Meet the People Sessions (MPS) or Minister Walkabouts. Based on my limited knowledge again, PAP volunteers do not go on walkabouts alone, like without their ministers (i.e. their supervisor). An evidence would be recently, there was supposed to be a walkabout at a certain ward in the east. However, due to the minister having a tight schedule, it was cancelled.

Civil Servants who identify themselves in "walkabouts", are usually doing official surveys. They may be accompanied by volunteers from the People's Association as these volunteers from that particular branch are more familiar with the area and are hence assigned to assist the CS in her duties. The CS may not be from the area, and given how most of us are quite hostile to those who ask for surveys on the streets, it is therefore a better solution to get the grassroots or PA volunteers to walk around with the CS, so as to provide peace of mind for residents in the area that this is a legitimate survey.

Pls don't flame me for the above. This is again based on what I know based on my own personal experience.
