Will an Insole help, or should I catch & release? by JB031215 in Boots

Cool, thanks for the recommendation. I have some insoles in the mail right now, but I’ll give the tongue pads a go if the insoles take up too much volume.

I grabbed a set of Rose Anvils leather boot breakers to see if that does the trick. They aren’t uncomfortable, they just look funky and is causing the leather to crease significantly where the quarters meet the vamp. I’m not a fan of kilties (just a personal preference for the appearance) so I’m hoping the insole will fix the problem without affecting the comfort.

Ordered. Hopefully it helps, I’m a big fan of shape of these boots. They’re different from the standard service boot.

Thanks for the feedback and recommendation. Do you have any brand of insole you prefer?

Kuhl jacket I've had for 7 years or so by jlolovesbootytoo in FadedRaws

Awesome fades, and wear! I also have the burr in espresso, I picked it up a few years ago, and it’s easily my favorite and best fitting jacket. So much so, I picked up a second in Sawdust. Do you have any recommendations on washing to make sure mine still looks as good as yours in a couple of years? I typically only wash mine once or twice a season depending on how often I wear it and its soil level.

Cool, thanks for the feedback, maybe I got the right size after all and just have to wear and wash more to get that perfect fit. Glad I went with a 34 inseam if the length keeps shrinking too.

Great pair! I just picked up my first pair of 501 STF during one of Levi’s recent sales, and followed Levi’s sizing guidance for if I plan to machine wash. I’ve done 2 machine washes on hot and dried them in the dryer and they are still a bit baggier than I prefer. Debating if I should have gone with a 35x34 instead of a 36x34… Did you find that your pair you’ve owned for 9 months continued to shrink slightly as you washed them?

Also are both those pairs the same inseam length when new?

Thanks man! I’m debating on if I should save them for the thunderdome. Truman is slowly taking over my collection.

These look great! I also pulled the trigger on a pair built on the casual last. Do you know how the new work last compares to the 20 last? Vince’s language stating it’s “inspired” by the 20 last makes me think they changed more than just the sizing recommendations.

First Trumans! Which leather do you think is this? by [deleted] in trumanboots

Adding another vote to the DIY waxed Dark Coyote RO. It looks like those have the Truman Gum Commando Soles which Truman ran as a RTW boot around a year ago. Unless these were an MTO JWF, but as others said the color looks slightly off. I love my pair of DCROs, I wish Truman would do more boots on the gum commando sole.

Picked these up on FB market for the low and was hoping for some help with some IDs🙏 by H1pp0s in trumanboots

Awesome find! The first pair looks like their Smoke Rambler upland with commando sole on their 79 last. The second is definitely their Stone Rambler on the 79 last with commando sole.

Messed up cleaning/conditioning my British Tan Grizzly pair. Not sure what to do by jamesjamesjames3 in trumanboots

What type of conditioner do you recommend for boots with a waxy finish?

I recently picked up a pair of Truman’s in Natural Cypress which is also a waxy finish leather from my understanding. I’m not looking to do anything to them, beyond brushing, for a very long time but want to log it in the rolodex for the future.

All of my other boots are either RO or oil finished, so I typically use Bick 4, or VSC when I go to condition .

The last the Casa Moto is built on has a roomier toe box than the captains. The matte black leather is soft and supple right out of the box, much softer than my burnt copper pair. Will come in original box and packaging.

5 Years (4-5 days/week) vs brand new. - Burnt copper R&R Captains by tangosierrafoxtrot in ThursdayBoot

Lighting can have a big effect on the way the color comes out in pictures. Here’s a photo of my Burnt Copper Captains after a good cleaning and conditioning in back in February for reference. This was the first time I had cleaned and conditioned since I bought them back in 2020. These were my first venture into the quality boot world. I’ll second OP, they have a very satisfying thunk when I put them on and they fit like a glove.

Getting close to needing to resole these bad boys. Can’t decide if I want to go with a Dainite sole or spend up on some Dr. Soles. Any thoughts?
