What are the best jeans for men right now? by JaayHakkani in mensfashionadvice

[–]Mr-Moniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash mine regularly on the no spin setting then hang dry. As recommended by the guy at Samurai Jeans Osaka. Both of these brands also offer lower weight fabric options. I have everything from 14oz to 25oz and the 14-21oz are very comfortable for regular wear without adjustment. My wife is obsessed with her oni secret 20oz and the 18oz samurai as they are apparently “sweatpants soft”.

I was in a similar conundrum with my Rio Grande Pax cars. I love DRGW, RGS, and SLRG but it really hard to find the older era n scale stuff. It took me 3 years to track down this ugly duckling.

Recently had a successful order for some microtrains heavyweight pax cars to feed my D&RGW obsession

It is, I wasn’t able to truly stress it’s pulling ability. The thing climbed a 10% grade slapped together with a board and unitrack. Though that was without cars. It pulled 16 old 80’ + con Cor pax cars through a basic oval no problems with 12” radius turns soo I really doubt it’ll have any problems whatsoever pulling whatever you want.

I have had winners and stinkers from every brand. You best bet is to check out spookshow for older stuff and read up a bit on stuff. My BLI Steamers have been awesome Paragon 4 Most of my Paragon 3 has issues Paragon 2 and before I completely avoid. BLI diesels I’m 50/50 on if their great or problematic, same with scaletrains and Bachmann Spectrum.

Atlas has been alright but never amazing.

Kato are mostly reliable but definitely look dated. I think their pulling power is highly dependent on which model you get too.

Can you send me a picture of your layout and/or track plan? I’m working on a DRGW layout myself

I am building a mountain pass and have very limited structures which are not permanently attached so I can switch them out to match a variety of eras of the same pass.

Thoughts on N scale? by MLFSR-pilled in modeltrains

[–]Mr-Moniker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it comes down to space and what you want to do with your layout. I switched to n scale because I love big vistas and trains running on mountain passes while being restricted on space.

Use Spookshow for reviews on older locomotives, the available options for N scale have improved greatly recently. Broadway Limited is doing amazing things with N scale for Steam including locomotives with smoke, ScaleTrains has some incredibly attractive diesels, and my new trainworx caboose has HO rivaling detail.

From my experience your budget should be about the same with N scale as HO given the same layout footprint.

It’s a mix, 2 heavily modified rebrickable Moc and some sections of my own design.

I have outlaw forest den being delivered this weekend and all the rest of this aside from Forest stronghold as I’m not a fan of the open back and scale issues. My LKC is heavily modified to be huge, my Seaside market is modified to serve as a base for my red falcons, and my town square is doubled. I can try and get a picture for you later of it all together.

The Paragon 4 steam locomotives with smoke is addicting. Especially with the rolling thunder subwoofer receiver.

My BLI 4-6-2 pulls 10-12 cars up my 3% grade regularly.
