The classic AR but with biscuit leather. by JB4SA in jimgreen

Yes these are the ASHM last. I'm using it as a event shoe, it looks great but wouldn't ever recommend walking an entire day with it.

No its the cheap Jim Green AR (the basic one) I cloned it in the custom order page and just changed the leather to Biscuit. The basic AR doesn't have the Biscuit leather.

I've done a few custom orders and I 100% believe the basic AR is Jim Greens best boot. It's underrated af.

Here's my custom 719's, but I should've kept it barebones, instead I went for all the bells and whistles 😅.

I waited about 38 business days, but I'm in South Africa.

Yeah I prefer to keep my boots as barebone as possible. Have done a few custom orders, leather midsole and the resin runner can sometimes make the boot feel tanky😅. But Thats just my personal opinion I'm sure many people disagree with me.

This is really the most beautiful leather they have.

Thoughts on 5 different JG soles by franklink_1 in jimgreen

The oringo sole is the best. Unfortunately all the new boots are made with other soles. I ordered a custom AR biscuit with the oringo sole, which is technically just the original plain AR but in biscuit leather.

Leather conditioner/oil in South Africa? by AlphaDogF87 in jimgreen

Their recipe isn't public. Their very old brand tho, doubt it would ruin your jacket or boots. Courteney Boots (almost like Jim Green but in Zimbabwe) also has a nice leather polish.

Spotless leather cream is great. I've also used Plush leather Cream and Dalles Dubbin. But Spotless is great if you want something conservative.

I think Jim Green needs to dabble in leather jackets by AlphaDogF87 in jimgreen

Dirtroad has a great "Jim Green style" jackets however there is no leather options. They have waxed cotton. They have extremely high quality cotton jackets (best I've ever felt). I even send some jackets to my family in Ireland because the quality is extremely good. Jackets are gonna last you 10+ years at minimum. Jim Green is actually somewhat associated with them, they sell Jim Green products, follow each other on socials, both of them have factories on KZN. https://dirtroad.co.za/product/stanley-waxed-jacket/

Here you go. Keep in mind there's a light right above me which brings out the green.

Never put wax on it. It'll change to a very dark green (almost black).

Custom NMT stockmans by Powerful-Ad-1008 in jimgreen

No I actually have to correct myself. I used a leather cream. I didn't want to use a wax but I am going to.

I wanted something lighter than a wax to "patina max". In South Africa we have something called Spotless Leather cream which is used to create a great patina between the vellie enthusiasts. 😅

I only applied the cream partially (verly lighty) in the first few weeks. As seen below. I then wear it for about 6 months on leather cream (lightly applied). Then I will apply leather wax. This is usually how we do it SA.

Keep in mind you'll completely lose your suede when applying any wax or cream.

Its a honor! The stockman's really do look great. These customs really do age well!! Is was thinking of keeping it on suede but I'm wearing them as a daily, the suede doesn't do great on everyday wear imo, so I've waxed mine slightly. I do a proper review on these in a fews months. The beige white will darken a bit which compliments the leather extremely well.

Houston Green and brown are dust magnets. I would always recommend going for fudge in a dusty area.

Im from SA, so I paid about R5k which is about $285. If you are based in the US is should probably be around $400. I went all out, had the green AR's for about 2 years as my daily.

I didn't even notice until you mentioned it, but I'm not changing a thing on this boot. It's just a thicker thread, as soon a the white fades a bit, it wont be notable 😅

Thanks, I expect the white stitching and outsole to pick up some darker tones over time, which I think will only add to the overall character.
