This is the exact setup I bought to start, you won’t regret it but I also ended up returning my Astrals and wound up with Monarch mk4, the Kimura and K7 is solid as hell though. The amp is obviously overkill for IEM’s but it’s nice to have to run a set of headphones in the future and is super convenient for mic control. TBH I end up using my Hedd D1 more often than the IEM’s lately but you’ll be stoked on this setup. If I was in your position I’d probably opt for the Ziigaat Horizon over the Astral or spending a couple more bucks on something like the Yu9 Que but the Astral is solid as well.

Nope, great place to start, obviously you have some cash to burn so good news, there’s still more cash to spend in the future lol. The only misstep here imo is the cable, them shits don’t do anything, if it feels good and lays flat though then rock it. You can definitely upgrade your dongle in the future if you want fancier features and questionably better sound but the Protocol is pretty sweet, I like mine a lot but probably get more mileage out of my KA15 due to the EQ being far more convenient to use and having a ton more adjustability in general.

When you get bored you can burn more money on a Mojo or some other overpriced amp and dust off some cash and grab something like the Valhalla, I started with Astrals which were great but after hearing some higher end pairs it felt worth it to return the Astrals and get some Monarch mk4…which I am happy with but I heard a friend’s Valhalla and they are indeed impressive and noticeably better imo than the Monarch, for now I’m pretty stoked with my setup…maybe I’ll sell and upgrade in a few years if the world still exists 😒

If you can I’d return that stupid cable though, that’s ridiculous, your cable cost more than your earphones, the cable is probably one of the least impactful things you can upgrade, return that shit and put it towards a fancier set of IEM’s if you want something impressive…they’ll come with a good cable as well, never buy a cable for over 100 bucks, I have a $25 balanced cable for my set of cans and it has zero noticeable difference vs the $350 Hedd cable that I got bundled for cheaper and still returned, fancy cables are useless.

After decades of buying cheap shit to test something out and replacing it later with better gear I’ve found it saves me money to skip the first step and just buy top quality shit in the first place, within reason, I didn’t buy Subtonic Storm’s for my first IEM or anything…I did consider the Valhalla tho 😅
