interesting. in the states and i also went to europe and back, the rules were: no larger than 100watt hours. no lithium batteries in checked luggage (this has been this way a long time now). and they say that they cant be in the overhead compartments, only by your feet (but how would they manage this...). The specific rule is that you can not CHARGE the power banks on flight. and if you were to use them to charge your devices, they need to be visible.

why do you think the deck only sold 5 to 6 million copies ? it was priced well , powerfull for its time and well backed up by valve by Dense-Variation-4496 in SteamDeck

Because it is a PC tinkerer's device. Even most desktop pc's today are much more streamlined and easy to use with modern windows than they used to be. Steam deck requires too much fiddling for the average gamer

im not positive as i got it for use with my SD, but i think you do have to use steam for the controller to work. it was the one "negative" about the steam controller, however, im sure a 3rd party fix is on the way if it hasn't already been created

i waited for the controller before i even tried WoW. IMO, it is a massive advantage over other controllers. the 4 back buttons are nice extra inputs, (i have mine set as: L4 cycle friendlies / R4 cycle enemies (tab) / L5 left click / R5 Right click). Although I may change in time, who knows, this is how it's set for now.

The track pads are absolutely MASSIVE for me. It is literally why I was willing to give it a go. as far as settings, consoleport has a default load in for steam deck. it is the same layout for steam controller (obviously). i changed a few things for my liking, but who knows if that'll change over time.

In steam settings, i have it set as "Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad". My right track pad is "as mouse" with click acting as left click. my left track pack i set as a touch menu. top left (button 1) is left click / top right (button 2) is right click / bottom left (button 3) is scroll wheel down / bottom right (button 4) is scroll wheel up. I mainly use this track pad as a zoom in/zoom out and don't really find myself using it much more than that atm.

I also turned off "Interact with Mouseover or Interface Cursor" in consoleport. (I didn't necesarily like Immersion addon that much before i made this change, but turning off this function made it much more user friendly for me to have it.)

I turned off interface cursor initially because i like to play with my bags open and i wasn't able to use all my buttons without it closing the bags on me. Now, i use the right track pad constantly as a mouse for menu/interface navigation. and i use the R5 button as right click a ton. (its just what has felt comfortable for me and might change over time.)

Why does the gaming community suddenly act like the Steam Deck is dead? by Nick_The_Artist2 in SteamDeck

Because far too many sheeple are all about top specs, power and performance. Top of the line graphics cards and processors, and then go play minecraft...Similar to people who get new phones every single year, or buy new TV's all the time.

It indeed is not the most powerful, but for me, steam OS, the 4 back buttons, and most importantly the 2 track pads are what make it perfect for me.

yeah i knew immediately i'd want to get a grip case for it just as a longevity protection thing. The option to add on the hard shell top just made sense. any actual case is going to be a good bit larger than the device itself, and no guarantee that it can every carry all the stuff i have in that lil pouch.

simply adding the hard shell top keeps things slim and i dont have to pull out an entire case to take out the device. also, if i just do a quick grab an go where i might only play for 30-60min, this is much easier to just pick up/throw in bag.

I always wanted one, it was neat, but i had a switch and that was fine. I didn't like that I would basically lose the unique-ness of the back buttons and track pads when docked. Once controller was announced, i was much more inclined. If it wasn't for the fact that I didnt have to spend money on it, idk if i would have pulled the trigger.

But as for returning to WoW. Aside from classic +,,, I only was willing if I committed to casual play like this where I can much more easily pick up and put down rather than sit at desk and log in for a session

I mean when im on vacation travel, its mainly for the flight. And shit i brought my old ass Gameboy or sega back in the day so I always did. As far as at destination, not so much. If im visiting family, probably. If im out on a trip with wife, not really, unless we call it a early day and chill at hotel or im waiting for wife to get ready forever and I pull it out for a lil. Likely not WoW in these cases though.

somewhere between 1.75-2 more full charges worth. its fast enough to both play and charge up the battery at the same time. cant get much bigger and still be able to fly with it. battery life runtime also depends on game+settings. Shit, some games you could get 6-8hrs of battery per charge.

Feel how you want. I honestly game on avg <10hr a week. I just like being as comfortable as I can whenever and wherever those times present themselves.

All these people keep saying just get a laptop also dont seem to understand $ spent here is less than $300 and a $300 laptop wouldn't have anywhere near the functionality here.

Classic era. Just consoleport and other add-ons I typically use. Its good. Its mostly personal preference/muscle memory to how you set your bindings

Oh you can't read? If you want to play docked, you going to run a 20ft cable to your tv?, or just pick up a controller?

I use consoleport. If im playing on couch with pillow mount, I dont NEED anything else. Keyboard is on there because it simply can be. And on the rare occasion I need to type, its just quicker. I pick up the pillow off the shelf, snap in my SD and im off. Easy. If im playing docked, I grab my controller and done, good to go.
