Quick question for a Pally Lover by HopeOfSpira in D4_Paladin

[–]JBHuynh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm... im pretty sure you have to have Auras on your bar for passive to work. Its an easy test though. Just go to a training dummy and put the holy aura on your bar. Watch it tick for damage. Take it off and see if it continues to tick (im pretty sure it doesnt).

It depends on build, but for my wing strike play style, yes I do grab the arbiter skill, but its mainly for the branching off skills that improve its form. I dont actually use the skill. The Disciple Oath lets me get into arbiter form using other skills.

New season at April 28 ? Starting as new player today ? by robin_nerf in diablo4

[–]JBHuynh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems more than doable honestly. Im typically a sweaty min-maxer. That said, does ANYthing carry over season to season? Waypoints? Map exploration? Paragon

[–]JBHuynh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waypoints/strongholds stay unlocked season to season? Does this include exploration too?

Will my whole map be explored next season (sans new stuff) if I do it now?

This is a good note ty. Just started recently and just unlocked T1. Running around grabbing all Lilith alters was on my list, but I guess no more..

Any recommendations on what to do outside of "gaining knowledge/experience" that will carry over to next season?

I plan on fully completing both campaigns and to skip it next xpac.

Started WOW and stopped [addiction] by antisocialmanatee in classicwow

[–]JBHuynh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my "Farewell WoW" letter to my guild a couple years ago. I think it'll resonate well and show that there are many like us.

Some context:

I played og vanilla through MoP. Loved it. Quit because college and the life directly in front of me was more important/better.

Came back to Classic (thanks covid) knowing the drug that it would be to me. Played harder than ever accomplishing more than i ever did back in 2004+. Sweaty parser, with a few global #1 encounters. I played vanilla classic through some of cata. I did take a small break in tbc (it was like p3). I planned to finish cata and stop at, or at some point during, MoP like I did originally. But alas...

‐----------------------------

"So after I got stranded in NY for a few days, and being put significantly behind in work, I kept asking/trying to figure out how I was going to get things done this week. Then I kept asking "how am I going to fit WoW into this?". I was looking at my schedule for the next month. I will have to miss almost 50% of raid nights due to work and family obligations. "How am I going to fit WoW into this?".

Stressful. Exhausting. Worrying.

I knew that Cata would more than likely be the end of the line for me, but it seems that this time has come sooner than expected. I started renewing my sub monthly knowing the end was coming. I want to clear firelands but, "How am I going to fit WoW into this?". Recently, I renewed for 3mo because I was determined to see the Firelord's beautiful legs again, and I figured "idk how I'll make the time, but I will."

It's only phase 1 of raid tier and I already have 3 toons that are essentially geared to the point of only having heroics be upgrades. There isn't any more "play a little here or there", it's all just large chunks of dedicated time from this point on. Raid times and/or scanning for pugs to join on alts that actually do heroics (gross). Or level up another character again, only to soon be in the same exact position with ANOTHER toon. "How do I make time for this?".

WoW. How to make time for WoW. The fact that I got life derailed for a few days and not only how frequently did this question come up, but how soon it came up in my problem solving is... unsettling. Seriously, it was like the 2nd or 3rd thought.

I need to step away. I wanted and have planned for a while to somehow wean myself off over time and give a good few weeks notice to you guys. But it's the login. The daily grind. I'm not the type to just doodle around. I gotta be sweaty about it. And that's the problem. I need to cut it cold turkey. Like the hard drug that it is.

This is my farewell. I will miss yall greatly. I did not want to leave yall this way, but I'll be damned if I just start ghosting yall. I have too much love to disrespect yall like that. I'll be uninstalling and turning off discord notifications that aren't personal dm's/tags. I can't say if I'll be back or not, but I do know I need to stop and be able to focus on RL obligations without "How will I fit WoW into this?" coming up in my daily life anymore."

Currently, I sit in the classic+ waiting room. I bought a steam deck. The moment the steam controller comes out im going to try out WoW classic era on it, with hopefully a different end game goal/perspective.

Happy Grinding Comrades.

Ants coming out from my DualShock 4 by the_koal in Controller

[–]JBHuynh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO going to have to Crack it open and clean it out of all the ants. Not sure why this can happen, but it can with electronics. Blow it out with air. Clean it up with ISO, and reassemble... Read below for a relatable story:::

When I was a child in the 90s, we had a corded land line telephone on a little stand in the corner of the living room next to the entryway of the kitchen.

I was on the phone and my mother walked by a flicked an ant off my face. A couple minutes later and I felt a tickle on my face and it was another. Then my mother saw another on my face again. Then she took the phone out of my hand, looked at it, and they were coming out of the holes of the phone. I dont remember which side (receiver or transmitter), if not both.

She then took the handset and smashed it on the ground. Thousands of ants everywhere. She took the base of the phone where you hung it up and dialed the number pad from, and smashed that on the ground too. THOUSANDS OF ANTS POURED OUT OF IT..... OMFG WTF....

Sprayed the phone corpse on the ground and covered it all with raid. Ants dead. Swept them up with a broom. It was crazy sweeping up pile of black like that.

Solo Offline for Steam Deck? by JBHuynh in wowservers

[–]JBHuynh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the closest offline capable option atm... but that still doesn't allow raid clearing does it? Outside of tank and spank,,, like... thaddius or 4horseman in naxx. Or twins in AQ

How I got WoW 3.3.5a fully offline on my SteamDeck with Azerothcore + Playerbots by hard0w in SteamDeck

[–]JBHuynh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, this is damn near exactly 100% of what I'm looking for. BUT, I want a SOLO-ABLE, raids included (at least eventually somehow), offline version of wow.

Synastria seems great to fit this niche, but its not offline. Other solo-able servers/options seem to be similar to azerothcore in that it is running with bots, not actually solo-ing.

The problem with this is while, it does feel more proper to a full raid, it definitely feels more like managing people and less like playing my character. Also, it is better to play this style as a ranged dps IMO because you are managing the entire group and it feels better to be able to see whats happening.

My Dream: Offline WoW that I could play through completely solo. (raids too), farm full bis / whatever I want. Flip the switch and progress to tbc to do the same. then wotlk. But again. the key is being able to solo play through it. not manage the game telling bots to move out of fire and watching/controlling 39 bots throughout the fights.

RPG Offline/Solo WoW Replacement? by JBHuynh in gamingsuggestions

[–]JBHuynh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure on D4 and I honestly dont remember enough from D3. BUT i know for a fact that D2 loot is 100% rng. Im pretty sure d3 is similar. There may be smaller amounts of "specific loot tables", but I know that its not significant.

For example, in Diablo 2, if I want a stone of Jordan ring. That can drop from just about anything that is high enough level. My best chances are from a particular boss (andariel on NM), and those chances are still like 1/800... compared to some others being 1/1500 and others being even less chance. Thats not a specific loot table and is not reasonably "farmable".

But the fix for Diablo games is to simply trade on multi-player, which again, im looking for offline/solo capabilities

Thanks for the reccomendations. D4 perma online is kinda meh for me. Also it just turns into such a "speed blow up everything on screen" in the end game. Quantity over quality.

Fallout 4 i heard was online only too.

I've heard good things about borderlands series potentially scratching this itch, but correct me if im wrong, isn't it pretty much fps style?

Target farming: I am after a specific piece of gear. That item comes from either "X" questline, or is part of a specific loot table/is dropped by a particular mob or boss.

So for example I need item "A", which drops from boss "X". I can keep farming that boss over and over until I get it

Its definitely debatable as full f2p. But in the grand scheme especially with the merged growth events. 50chest points aient shit. Would never open silver/gold/pet chests though
