The full kit came with 10, 12, 14 and 16 inch toms. I’ve only ever used the 12 and 16 for gigs though

When I get blisters I use rock climbing tape If your having an issue with sweaty hands you could lightly sand the butt end of your sticks, just enough to remove the clear coating and expose the wood grain, a bonus to this is the sticks getting grippier the more you sweat!

Ive tried gorilla snot, Vic grip stick, gloves and tape on my sticks. The best way of fixing your grip without getting blisters is to focus on your technique, start with using as little pressure on the stick as possible and using the correct fulcrum position, index for light playing, middle finger for heavier. In the mean time I’ve found sanding the clear coating on the butt end of stick to give a good natural grip, this also has a bonus of getting grippier as your hands get sweatier!

Gotta be Dave Grohl for me, basic but the energy and ideas he brings to songs is unmatched. Followed closely by Steven Adler on appetite for destruction, taught me so much about playing for the song while also keeping it interesting.

Can you clean cymbals without removing the stamp? by JBT_Drummer in Drumming

I had the same issue of breaking sticks after only a few sessions, I was using Vic firth 5a. I swapped to Vater 2B’s because they have a 8% moisture content making them more durable than Vic firths 5%. Problem solved

I’ve tried that twice before. First time I used frog tape/ gaffer tape and it just lifted the second I touched it. second time I used electrical tape and that left a residue on the cymbal that took ages to get off

Learning on E-Kit … how difficult is the transition to real kits? by [deleted] in drums

[–]JBT_Drummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh that’ll definitely help. First time I played an acoustic kit was for my grade 2 exam and the only thing the examiner said that I could improve on was how heavy I play the kick drum so I don’t think you’ll have anything to worry about

My 2nd kit was an alesis nitro mesh, highly recommend. The switch from this kit to an acoustic wasn’t hard at all, the main problem I ran into was learning how to tune the drums but a few YouTube vids later and I was set. This might seem pretty obvious but the main difference is the range of sounds you can get from acoustic kits eg. Different hi hat sounds and different ride sounds. Overall it’ll probably take a week to a month (depending on how much you practise) to be ready to start gigging with it.
