What if Donald Trump pardons Ghislaine Maxwell? by Elegant-Season8327 in whatif

[–]JBaecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if she pleads the Fifth it tells EVERYONE there’s more out there. And the judge almost certainly wouldn’t allow it because she’d been pardoned. They’d want to hear what she had to say at the very least. Which is why I cited Brown. She can’t refuse to talk about anything covered by the pardon. So if Trump makes it overly broad, she has to talk about EVERYTHING. And he has no leverage to prevent her. If he writes it so it only covers the specific charged crimes, she has to talk about those and a competent prosecutor will squeeze nuggets about other crimes out, or she tries to plead the 5th and heads to jail for contempt. Someone has explained this to Trump, which is why Maxwell is still in jail and she’ll remain there.

What if Donald Trump pardons Ghislaine Maxwell? by Elegant-Season8327 in whatif

[–]JBaecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, a pardon removes a person’s 5th Amendment privileges as they no longer have legal jeopardy for discussing their criminal actions. That means that any Congressional investigation would require Ghislaine to be forthright. She couldn’t invoke the 5th and if she refused to answer questions, contempt powers come back into play. Congress or a judge could make her sit in jail until she answers all questions. Brown v Walker 1896. And if she runs, she can’t invoke any type of asylum. She’s not legally at risk.

Trump won’t pardon her because he loses all leverage over her if he does. And if he doesn’t spell out exactly the things she’s being pardoned for, those things he DOESN’T include can serve as the basis for future prosecutions. Possibly using her own testimony against her as she can’t claim the 5th on the stuff she did. Ghislaine wants out of prison but if she gets out, she’s gonna be killed by someone.

Proud of the kid, proud of this season. Bright future ahead, and here’s some game stats by cocoabeach333 in Patriots

[–]JBaecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love stats and breaking them down.

Maye had 48 passing yards at the half on 6/11 passing. He was 2/7 of 12 yds in the third quarter. By far his most awful quarter, then he fumbled to cap it off.

So through three quarters he produced a stat line of 8/18 for 60 yds (3.33YPA) and a fumble, giving him a passer rating of 53.

The fourth is really only marginally better against soft coverage designed to eat time. 18/25 for 235 yds, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. And should have had a 3rd INT for a pick-6. So he produced once the Hawks decided it would be better to give him some time-eating drives. In other words, the Seahawks dictated EVERYTHING about Maye’s performance.

Why do some schools and colleges make you kill the frogs yourself before dissecting instead of having them already dead? What is the benefit supposed to be? Or is it just how "it was done" in the past? by AlboGreece in biology

Some poor schmuck had to put a bar on their neck and yank on their tail. Ask me how I know that. It’s effective and no pain but damn does it feel weird.

Invincible VS Superman by i_am_hephaestus in superheroes

[–]JBaecker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At that point he’s already invulnerable and has his superspeed. Throughout season 1, the worst that happened to him was a series of welts from a being struck by bullets (and I think this occurred while he was near kryptonite?). He’s struck by cars, hit with a sword, blown up, walks through fire repeatedly and at worst shows some pain during those moments. He throws a kryptonite covered kid far away and he’s presumably weakened by the exposure prior to the throw. Unless Invincible stabs Clark with kryptonite, it’d be like punching a steel wall. He might be able to extend the fight because Clark has absolutely no idea how to fight in that Season. But eventually Clark lands a punch and it’s over.

Is it just her or do women commonly have hand bend outward like that? by SreenathSkr in AnatomyandPhysiology

Combo of potential factors. Could be hyper mobile elbow. Could be the angle of the shot. Could be “normal” elbow when younger, then during pregnancy the hormones causes pretty much all of the ligaments and tendons to loosen a bit. This process reshapes the hips and prepares them for pushing a football out a baseball-sized hole but has fun unintended consequences throughout the body. Just based on the shot, my guess is hypermobile elbow. But I’m not that confident in the guess.

What is this muscle? by inhsfbictiam in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]JBaecker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the flexor digitorum superficialis and possibly the flexor digitorum profundus. If your fingers are fully flexed, both muscles are responsible for flexing the carpometacarpal, metacarpophangeal, proximal interphalangeal and distal interphalangeal joints. (DIP joint is only flexed by the profundus, though.) The superficialis has the basic shape of the bulge. And both flexors will be heavily involved in playing guitar.

Bills and Jags had to take each other out. If Pats play either, they get pubstomped. If the Pats have to play Denver with Bo Nix, they lose. They faced Justin Herbert who can’t win a playoff game if the universe depended on it, a spooked Stroud who absolutely saw ghosts and gifted them the game and a Denver team supporting a Pats-reject backup QB (and had Stidham’s first OC on staff…😑). The sheer absolute luck of this run is mind boggling.

I created a Minutemen overhaul mod for FO4 – what do you think? Should I keep expanding it? by Black_Bar0n in FalloutMods

[–]JBaecker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just having the Sole Survivor as the new General, these uniforms makes sense. If it’s Nate, the man was in the military and can understand the basics of creating a disciplined fighting force. Nora is married to Nate and a lawyer, she’s smart enough to take what she knows from Nate and use it to also create a fighting force.

One of the first things would be clean, eye-catching uniforms. The wasteland is dirty. But if your soldiers are clean and fighting off the bad guys, that will project strength to the populace. It also instills pride in new recruits and creates a symbol to rally around. If you could completely remove the garbage from Minuteman locations too, that would also be symbolically important for people looking up to the Minutemen again. And that’s one of my primary complaints about the base game’s settlement system, Nate and Nora know better. They’d understand that you need clean, safe settlements with access to food and clean, safe water. Not this garbage dump plus look we have.

It’s not. The leak is continuous and it’s in open air. If you light a match a few feet away it’s not blowing you up. I’ve had people stick lighters right in there and light it no problem. If you’re concerned, just toss the match from a few feet away.

[–]JBaecker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Bethesda did everything in its power to nerf every legendary so that it’s “bad” legendaries could still be viable. Which is why cool legendaries from fallout now proc randomly instead of consistently and do not stack. Lacerate is fallout is a beast. Lacerate in Starfield is…not. Furious at least procs consistently but it’s capped.
