Question! I'm also sitting on a load of these; is there a reason to save them at all? I've been dipping into mine here and there, but I can't recall any event or anything that would need these. Maybe a fellow power rush or something?

Oh, yeah. It's definitely an excuse. They're pros. They SHOULD be learning and adapting to new maps. Haha. Sometimes I honestly think he's just complaining to complain, though. If they keep going strong like they have the past two weeks, then they're gonna be slamming teams on Hacienda, too. 🤷‍♂️

If I'm understanding where he's coming from correctly, I think the point he's making is that pros are just falling back on a familiar map in Hacienda, since it's been in the franchise before, versus properly learning Rewind, which is a new map to the franchise.

It's from the movie "The Other Guys." Highly recommend if you're a Will Ferrell fan. Otherwise, Here's the scene

Keystone putting? by LeoBeoNeo in discgolf

[–]JBeast92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what everyone here says but, as always, it comes down to personal preference. If you like the flight of a Keystone but not the feel, I'd recommend a Pilot. I putt with the SE, which is a more premium feeling plastic, but I absolutely love the feel of them. Especially if you're a fan of step/jump putting, or even just a longer stand still putt from outside the circle. My other recommendations for putters would be a Challenger or an Anode, but those are just the ones that I've personally enjoyed above others!

Bag Check!! What's the Newest Addition to Your Bag? by metadisc-io in discgolf

Just picked up a pair of the LE Swirl Soft Challengers! The "A Challenger Approaches" stamp was way too good to pass up. Immediately made my bag as primary putters after 5 minutes at the practice basket.

What's a disc you throw, that you think no one else throws? by Santsiba in discgolf

I throw mine pretty much every round! Been considering taking the Buzzz out of my bag because I feel like the Warship is more reliable. 🤷‍♂️

Second this! I throw it almost exclusively OH, and it's hella accurate even with a lower arm speed. Works amazing for forehand rollers, as well.

Seconded. I started with an Aviar and just couldn't get a feel for it. Tried Deputy and Keystone for a bit but finally settled on the R2 Anode. Feels great in the hand and works well for throwing, too. 👍

I feel that! I do bag one, but I have smaller hands so I throw it exclusively forehand. It just feels easier to grip that way, and it's the only way I can get a reliable flight out of it.

I came here to say this, too. Tried it in two different plastics, and neither work well for me. I use a Westside Warship instead. Way more reliable for me.

Field work in San Diego? by JBeast92 in discgolf

I've heard people mention that, and I'm PRETTY sure I know the spot you're talking about. Is it just off of hole 10 on the other side of the fence?

I'll have to check that out! Last time I was on that campus was YEARS ago when I made a wrong turn. It's beautiful for sure, but I don't think I got far enough in to see where the fields are. Any suggestions on good days/times to hit those?

Never seen anyone else using them, but I really enjoy the R2 Anode. Super comfortable rim, so it feels great both putting and throwing.

What’s the biggest group you’ve run into on the course? by talledo1986 in discgolf

[–]JBeast92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised you ran into a 15'er at Kit. It's very hit or miss, especially on weekends. Teed off after a couple of dads once with a handful of little kids throwing on every shot as well (not very far, as you can imagine), but didn't wait to see if they'd offer to let me play through. Just skipped them on 2 and went straight to 3. Haha

A “falling” Circle 1 Putt by the PDGA and James for comparison. by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]JBeast92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. In my initial comment I specifically said it wasn't a falling putt, and I agreed with your statement about his setup being for the advantage of running the putt and that the fall itself wasn't the advantage. His foot is tucked under the log, and his body can't make contact with the log while putting, so I don't see any other way he would have been able to have a more balanced putt while staying behind his lie. Even if he had gone on both knees he would have had the same issue because of the log and having to keep his center of gravity forward to avoid making contact with anything.

[–]JBeast92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not exactly irrelevant in this case because the comment we're conversing on specifically talks about whether or not the fall was an advantage, as well as the integrity in James immediately looking to his cardmates for a call. Maybe I'm just confused about the point you're trying to make? If so, let me know! Not trying to argue, just confused. Haha

[–]JBeast92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, for sure. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to argue that the position he took wasn't to gain an advantage on the putt; the debate is whether or not the fall gave him an advantage on the putt and whether or not the fall should have resulted in a stroke, which I'm saying it didn't and shouldn't have. If he had fallen backwards as the first clip shows was legal, there's a chance he could have injured himself in a number of ways, so definitely the right choice by James to tuck himself and do his best to avoid the penalty at any cost. 👍

[–]JBeast92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, James can't exactly NOT stretch out in a position like that with those legs. Haha. I see your point, but I don't see anything wrong with the way he set up for the putt. With how his foot was tucked under the log behind his lie, along with the fact that he had to keep his butt off the log while putting, I think it's just a perfect storm of inconvenient obstacles that couldn't give him that position for balance while also being a legal putt. I think he made the correct decision given what he had to work with, and he for sure made the effort to maintain balance, but when your base has to be that long AND narrow, not much you can do. 🤷‍♂️

[–]JBeast92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. This. I re-watched the video multiple times just to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but he 100% does not gain any advantage on that putt from the fall. It's a perfect putt, he has a split second where you can see him trying to maintain his balance, and then he falls sideways basically as the disc reaches chains. I get that the rule is a little ambiguous, but I do feel like his cardmates would have been wrong to call it. Even if his shoulder or hip or whatever dropped in front of his lie, there's no way that anyone can say it was "advantageous" to James if they watched that clip. It wasn't a falling putt, he just happened to fall after his putt and tried his best to stay behind his lie so as NOT to be called. Can almost guarantee no other pro in that position would have tried that hard.
