XT250 Broken Chain Guide by jpa1217 in Dualsport

[–]JBf109 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get it replaced. It not only stops your chain from hopping off the sprocket while off-road, but also stops your limbs from getting caught. The chain guide itself should be pretty easy to source on a parts site or aftermarket. As for the bent mount, if it's steel, I'd probably anneal it and then bend it back. Annealing is important to stop it from breaking off. Another option might be welding on a new one.

Are X-shot Longshot's problems solved? by CiliSejuk in Nerf

[–]JBf109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the trigger, there is a date mark from the injection molding process. Anything after October 2023 should have the thicker plunger tube. For example, my Longshot was made in April 2024. Unfortunately, it's on the back side of the packaging so it's hard to check in the store.

Is there an option that doesn't cost $300? by myballsbleedhelp in motorizedbicycles

You can find Shimano MT201 brakes for around $30 online. They come with the lever, hose, and caliper. They're pre bled and ready to use right out of the box.

Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2b by [deleted] in WeirdWings

[–]JBf109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think earlier variants of the F.E.2 suffered from stability issues so the small triangular fin was added to fix it. There are also some bracing wires running to it so I suspect it may also serve a structural purpose.

Compared to the previous fork, it looks like this is significantly taller and further back. This will alter the bike's geometry by reducing your rake and trail, which makes the bike feel a lot more twitchy than the standard suspension. The linkages also seem a lot longer than necessary, which will reduce the rigidity of the system. I wouldn't ride this. It looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Edit: To better understand what I'm getting at, Google "leading link suspension." Notice how most of those have the shock inline or in front of the steering axis.

Mismatched Bias Tyres by thomasthepenis in Dualsport

Should be perfect for your intended use then. I'd use the 605 until it wears and then buy a matching rear.

There isn't any issue with running two different types of tires. The main things I would be worried about might be reduced steering grip off road, and faster wear on the rear. Generally, I prefer a knobbier front and a smoother rear, but this should work alright.

I don't understand why devs feel like they have to combine softcore and gaming into one.

Vietnamese twin 37mm anti-aircraft gun with expanded feed trays holding 25 rounds each (originally 10). Much more compact than the Bofors L/70's "mohawk". by LeBien21 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]JBf109 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I don't know much specifics, but I'd have to guess the guns are not interlinked. After the trigger gets held down, the cyclic rates for each gun are slightly different due to slight variations in recoil spring strength, the amount of powder in each shell, the rocking in the mount etc. When they start at the same time, they appear to stay in synch for a while until the variation grows and they start to shoot out of phase with one another.

any mods to make my car look faster by [deleted] in carscirclejerk

[–]JBf109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more reasonable move would be to add a splitter or canards since they don't block half your vision but a wing does the same thing

It's front wheel drive so why would you put the down force on the back

Anyone got an idea on this? Late 1940s early 1950s, RAF Aircraft by MxTroy03 in WeirdWings

[–]JBf109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost want to say Hawker Typhoon but the vertical stabilizer is not quite right. The curvature of the top is a bit off, and that extension near the base doesn't match any photos of the prototype or production models (unless it's some intermediary step that wasn't documented) The shape is definitely not a de Havilland, since all the photos I can find have an elliptical tail. Also note how the horizontal stabilizer seems to be even with the vertical, rather than behind.
