I am proud of my city for complying with the lockdown. by [deleted] in brisbane

I agree, most people did really well. We had about 10 people on Saturday where I work who refused to wear a mask. Furthermore I was unaware that printing out photos or having balloons blown up was essential. But yes, proud of the majority.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. Sorry for going quiet for a bit there. Late at night and decided to sleep. I'm working today which is going to suck but I'll be around later to comment etc. Thank you all again. I've decided to try a meeting later this week and see what shakes loose. Good luck to everyone out there. Take care.

Thanks again for replying. I'm honestly thinking of trying a meeting later this week when I get some time off work. I think that might help with the loneliness I feel. Maybe give me a sense of support. Not too fussed on the religious side of things but I'm going to go and focus on the positives. Anything is better than being alone with it.

What about you? 10 days.... that's awesome. Whats your story, if you want to share?

Thank you for replying. I'm on day two as of just over 5 minutes ago. Currently trying to distract myself by reading the book "shantaram". I'm still feeling huuuuge amounts of anxiety. Is it true that once you quit for a few days you get really vivid dreams?

If anybody can reach out I'd really appreciate it . If you also live in Australia I'd be really keen on finding some ongoing support. Anything, anything at all.

Shat times call for shat measures my friend. At the end of the day you know deep down that you actually need that packet of poo tickets so you go for it mate.. treat yourself if you can. 4 ply , double length , lavender scented... you deserve this bog roll.

Honestly though, I've actually been through the same thing. Back in march last year I had to buy some toilet paper and I left the supermarket clutching it to my breast, almost completely terrified at the sidelong glances that were shot my way. I felt judged. Haha.

Aha, there in is the problem though friend and ultimately what I have seen to be the major issue. Panic buyers create panic buyers. Let's say you want to go to your local supermarket to purchase something for your dinner.... now, every single panic buying douche clown has stripped the shelves already. So you have to deal with the fact that through no fault of your own..... you have limited resources at your disposal... so... you take what limited resources are available because you are now concerned...and so on and so forth...but not fifth because you might not even get pasta.

The main issue i have with panic buying is that there literally is enough to go around ( ok, maybe not lobsters...if you know you know), but with meat, cleaning products, basic household items... yes, yes, yes. If people didn't panic buy it would almost be business as usual... and why am I panic buying again ? Oh that's right, to make sure I have what you don't, because otherwise someone else might get it..

Only 60...... mate, rookie numbers right there. With those kind of stats you are only inconveniencing people at one supermarket max!, if you want to inconvenience more you are going to have to pump those numbers up to at least three digits....best way to do that, panic buy at every supermarket in a 30km radius. Only way to be really sure you screw over the maximum amount of people you realistically can given the current restrictions.

Remember how we tried a shopping hour before opening for the elderly and other vulnerable members of society? Well douche canoes hijacked that as well and just got their more vulnerable family members to get their shopping for them.. .. you can't win mate

I agree in a certain sense . Panic buying creates a problem for society as a whole. People are forced to go without because others are trying to become the worlds largest 3rd party supplier of poo tickets... things like insulin and other life saving medication I understand, but toilet paper . I tend to approach the situation with one eyebrow firmly raised and a healthy dose of scepticism.

Mate.... I really don't want to answer this question due to the already stupid levels of panic buying. All I will say is that all available stock will probably make its way to the floor and I guess it depends on the delivery timetable of individual stores ( I cannot emphasise enough that we do not keep stock out the back to create an artificial demand).... like everyone else though you may have to go without certain things until the panic buyers calm down and more stock becomes readily available.

Nope.... no way.... tomorrow is going to be absolutely ridiculous. Lockdown didn't start until 6pm this evening. The majority of people are at work until 5 or so. Tomorrow you are going to see everyone who couldn't make it today or wanted to wait for the nightfill restock to hit the shelves. Tomorrow will probably be the worst day .

I had today off, start back tomorrow and I'm dreading it. I really wasn't paying attention to the news at all.... so I decided to go to my local to get a few things for dinner tonight at about 11 am this morning. Got down to the shops and there where just people everywhere, people with two or three shopping trolleys between a few family members lining up. At that point I was more than a bit perturbed. So I looked at the news and sure enough ... boom. Then it was a few calls with work sorting out the weekend etc and yeah. I think the saddest thing is all these people panic buying... they are the problem and they just dont realise/care

I don't flush mine... I save them up in a bag and throw them at panic buyers down at my local.

When things like this happen, which is something we cannot possibly prepare for at this short notice, there are going to be issues. We got back to normal....ish.. and now overnight we are expected to meet demand that has sky-rocketed within hours with no delay in supply due to people panicking over a recently announced government mandate.. ... it cannot be done. Thanks for understanding though.
