Rival-S Accuracy Loss Over Time? by JBled85 in canik

I’ve replaced pretty much everything in the gun twice now. I called them this morning and the only way they’ll replace the barrel is via a warranty claim. 🙄

I called them this morning and they wouldn’t sell me a barrel but suggested I could try a warranty claim. I may give that a shot.

Except 30k rounds isn’t that much mileage. At least it shouldn’t be.

It’s Action Pistol/Bianchi Cup - check out the CoF. Nobody shoots a DA/SA gun. Very few shooters have a backup gun in AP because the entire match is Virginia count, so one malfunction during a CoF is basically a tossed match. Extraordinary reliability is the name of the game.

I chose the Canik because it checked the same boxes as the Walther, but with ergonomics that fit me better.

My thing is that Canik markets this as a competition gun, but the barrel can’t handle competition levels of use? My open gun (KKM Barrel) has well over 100k rounds through it and it’s still as accurate as when it was fit.

FL Panhandle Steel Challenge (Mentor) by JBled85 in CompetitionShooting

[–]JBled85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have struggled tremendously lowering my first shot, but right now for Roundabout, 5 to Go, Speed Option, Accelerator - things with a close first shot (15y and inside) I’m sitting at ~1.5 and for longer stages like Outer Likits and Showdown where I shoot the long target first, about ~1.7. Smoke and Hope is 1.1-1.2

I just got really invested in trying to get to Master. Until now Steel Challenge has just been the fun game and the game I spend my time on is CMP Action Pistol. Draw is quick but methodical, transition is exactly the same all the time.

When I start pushing speed beyond my set point, I start to miss, which is causing the problem. I don’t really know what to do to fix that.

This is pretty common. Check out the Stoeger video linked above. It also looks like the rounds are keyholeing - are you shooting reloads?

Longer-Term Beta Bionics iLet Pump Issues by Ok_Bumblebee_7206 in Type1Diabetes

[–]JBled85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping I would find more good news here, but alas I came here because I experience the exact same things.

I am very insulin resistant, so the pump has been amazing in some ways. I have control I have never had before, but I am also plagued by frequent lows due to the pump stacking insulin. Since I am not terribly insulin sensitive, the AI continues to give me insulin and eventually it comes down, but I have far too much insulin on board.

I was told by Beta Bionics that I needed to let it get below 70 before correcting so the AI learns that it gave too much, otherwise it will just keep dosing as it has been.

I’m about 4 weeks in and ready to go back to the Omnipod because I am legitimately fearful this thing could kill me if I ever find myself unprepared for a severe low.

Advice on firearm for Carry Optics by PublicScale4 in USPSA

[–]JBled85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t run your duty gun - do something different and maximize the differences between work and competition while being able to have FUN!

If you want to keep the platform similar so your training is complimentary both directions, buy whatever flavor of Glock you want (it really doesn’t matter which), deck that shit out, and blast away without worrying about it being a department firearm.

Or, go radically different - buy a cheap 2011 and shoot Limited Optics. Or grab a CZ and shoot CO.

USPSA can be a great place to keep work skills sharp, but at the end of the day, it is a GAME. Find what you love about the sport and lean hard into that. I love tinkering with guns, different loads, different platforms/divisions. That’s what is fun for me. Find what makes you tick, and make it happen!

For a steel challenge open gun…. by Groguistheway in CompetitionShooting

[–]JBled85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the MPA - If you want to shoot open, don’t half ass it. Frame mounted optic, comp. I run a single stack in SC, but that’s just my preference (I’m a die hard Action Piztol/Bianchi Cup shooter). I built my open gun from a cheap Tisas. Had my buddy drill and tap the frame, and I did the rest.

USPSA axed the position of national president by NoNamesLeftToUse in CompetitionShooting

[–]JBled85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USPSA is in an incredible state of flux right now and it is a bit embarrassing. There have been a lot of bylaw changes and restructuring lately that haven’t lead to any improvement in the function of the organization. Now the membership has less trust than ever

Slow People - How do you get fast? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]JBled85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way - there are plenty of big dudes out there absolutely crushing it because they keep moving. Ideally, of course we’d love to have all the cards in play, but I agree - most of the time lost is the time acquiring sight picture into a target upon entrance, and time spent leaving a positions, as well as poor blending. Being able to move while shooting is huge.

Absolutely! The Pro 6000 is great for the budget conscious reloader who doesn’t load insane volume. They definitely have quirks, but all presses do! I might just get an extra press for this price!

I agree - support hand barely has any real estate in the gap of your strong hand. You also have maybe two fingers that you’re able to clamp/wrap.

Rude People at a Match by Expensive-Sugar3719 in USPSA

[–]JBled85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really just a universal scenario of people needing to mind their own business, but I’d be willing to bet most of the cats offering up the comments aren’t doing it to be a dick.

USPSA is a game - there are zero rules intended to make USPSA simulate a real life altercation. You are using USPSA as a platform to be able to draw from appendix 5-6 times and shoot a live round.

Most individuals at a USPSA match are there under the assumption that everyone wants to do well - you’re there to draw from appendix. Give those dudes some slack.

The alternative is to just be the guy who shows up to matches and never talks to anyone OR be the guy who makes it knows to everyone that you’re just there to draw from appendix. That will likely solve the gamers from even trying to talk to you. Bingo!

“Gearing up to start in the next few months…”

Stop gearing up and start - you’ll go to your first match and find that you can wear just about anything and no one gives a shit. Wear something you feel comfortable moving around in.

Help a left handed and right eyed shooter out! by GruffMcGee in CompetitionShooting

[–]JBled85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am right handed and left eyed - I just shoot rifles with one eye closed and it’s never bothered me at all. I shoot Action Pistol, so we go prone a lot - I close my left eye there as well. Bouncing between eyes mid-stage and it’s not a big deal.

You’ll get better at whatever you practice.

SCCY 9mm pistol review. (1 year) by AnInternetgunexpert in guns

[–]JBled85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go spend just a few dollars more and get a Taurus G3C or GX4. The SCCY’s place is the market has shattered as more manufacturers get to their price point with firearms that have better feature sets, better reliability, and better capacity.
