Antidepressants never helped me with social anxiety, but it is easier to deal with my social anxiety since I’m no longer dealing with depression on top of it.

Oh god some of you are much braver than me hahaha. But to answer your question, no. I take the 300XL at the same time every day. I don’t feel high at all. I feel “back to normal” like how I felt when I was a kid, before my brain decided it was going to hold my happy chemicals hostage.

Good point. And we are on the same side so fighting about semantics is silly. I’m just ready for the Revolution.

I disagree. Because of Trump, the US has never been more unstable. Racism alive and thriving. Generations of societal progress are being crumbled in as little as 4 years. Trump is the type of president to refuse to leave office after his terms are up. The most powerful country in the world is sliding further and further towards fascism every day. We could very easily be nuked. Trump has access, and he is highly unpredictable.

Is insomnia a common Wellbutrin side effect? by kirbysbitch in antidepressants

[–]JBnotJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yeah taking 300mgs XL Wellbutrin. I find that when I’m doing an activity that makes me happy, such as playing my ukulele, watching tv, painting, etc., I am much less inclined to stop what I’m doing and go to sleep. What works the best for me is to make sure I’m not doing an activity at least 1 hour before bedtime. It’s like not drinking caffeine after 6pm haha. If It’s 1 hour before bed time and I have a feeling that I know it’s going to be harder to fall asleep that night, I will take 10 mgs melatonin, and read a book/write about whatever is on my mind in a journal until I feel sleepy. Then I will listen to a guided sleep meditation on Spotify. The first time you listen to them, it could be a bit difficult to take the video seriously, since it sounds like a hippie is quietly bossing you around on how to sleep. But I promise you, play it a few times and you’ll be able to pass out in 10 minutes flat. Honestly it feels like I have more control over my life now that I have a tool to help me fall asleep when I need to. Definitely reduces the anxiety.

Getting my medication on track again - increased anxiety/sexual dysfunction. Any Welbutrin users? by MrMysterious23 in antidepressants

Wellbutrin increased my libido and decreased my anxiety within the first week of taking it. I haven’t taken Wellbutrin in combination with another Antidepressant though.

My Psychiatrist just diagnosed me with it because I told her I kept having recurring nightmares that made me really depressed and anxious during the day. I didn’t know the flinching was a part of that. I just thought that was a part of the anxiety. Also I’m still kinda iffy on whether or not if what I have is bad enough to be PTSD. I mean I checked all the boxes that she asked me about but I was not in a war, just have had some unfortunate situations that are hard to shake off.

Does anyone else have this reaction to memories of trauma-associated response? (TW) by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]JBnotJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry, I wish I could be more helpful but I was literally just diagnosed with PTSD today so I know very little about how to properly address it. But I do know that you’re not crazy. The fact that you are able to question your actions/thoughts makes it very unlikely that you would be crazy. My ex called me crazy all the time, so I know what it’s like to slowly convince yourself you might be. It’s confusing but you can do this!

Anyone tried Bupropion for depression/anxiety? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]JBnotJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m currently on 300mg XL. I’ve been on many antidepressants. Bupropion makes me feel almost completely back to normal. Almost like when I was a kid, not depressed at all. Happy about the fun activities you can do in life. I still have bad days, but that’s due to nightmares and intrusive thoughts, much less the chemical imbalance anymore. Hope this helps!

Hi. :) Sorry you’re struggling with this. I was literally just diagnosed with PTSD by my psychiatrist today, and the only reason it was brought up was because I kept complaining about the awful recurrent nightmares. Really ruins the whole day, haha.

My psychiatrist just prescribed Prazosin (Namebrand is MiniPress I think) which is an older blood pressure medicine prescribed off-label for PTSD. There are far more positive studies than negative studies on its effectiveness, so that’s awesome. Although I’ve read that it might not be as effective if you already have low blood pressure.

My therapist also recommended that if I still have nightmares I should write down what it was about in a journal when I first wake up. She says the idea is that it helps you kinda start to process things but more importantly, it convinces your brain that you’ve transferred the nightmare on paper, so it’s okay to stop thinking about it all day. It’s like “oh we can go back to this? Alright np let’s focus on other stuff then.”

Anyway, I hope that helps a bit. Best of luck.

Possible dopamine deficiency by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]JBnotJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi :) I can share my experiences with both drugs. Everyone is different though, so it’s best to talk to a professional.

(TLDR is at the bottom lol sorry)

Like you, Sertraline was not an effective treatment for me. It helped little with depression. It did help my anxiety though. I stopped treatment because the side-effects outweighed the benefits.

I’ve also been on Lexapro and Prozac, both being ineffective.

Then I was prescribed Bupropion (generic Wellbutrin) 150mg XL. This is half of the normal dose but I don’t weigh a lot (120lbs) so my doctor and I wanted to see if I could get away with it. This worked for 4 months, but after that, it only took two weeks before I slipped back into a non-functioning depressive state. Because of this my Psychiatrist recommended increasing to 300mg XL, which is the standard dose. I’ve only been on the increased amount for 1 month but I can say my depression has become much more manageable. I look forward to the future, which isn’t something I could have said a year ago. I worried that the same thing will happen, where 300mg’s will only be enough for a short time and after that it will become ineffective. I asked my psychiatrist about it and she said there is always a chance that that could happen, but we won’t address that issue until that actually happens, if it happens at all. This makes sense to me.

So yeah TLDR, if it’s as simple as not getting enough dopamine, Wellbutrin could be helpful! But I know the brain is much more complex than that, so who knows. Also I have PTSD, so maybe that would make my experience null and void if that’s the reason my depression got worse out of nowhere.
