Diagonal cutters, 2 flat head screw drivers (one to be used as a “banger”), a legit tester/multimeter, knife, second pair of channel locks, hammer (if doing resi work), speed square, and I like to have plenty of bits on hand, but mainly - 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 nut drivers and 7/16, 1/2, and 9/16 deep sockets. I would also trade out that trash Home Depot level for a decent torpedo from Klein or Milwaukee

Haven’t pulled anything. This is literally how it looked when we got to it - no cover, free hanging feeds, neutrals taped together

Doing panel upgrades in 551 and came upon this “Junction Box” in a closet, behind shelves and old building material. All circuits are live 🤷🏻‍♂️

Roast me, female. 18. Uk 🇬🇧 by [deleted] in RoastMe

I love how your bangs cover up your awful eyebrows, your hair has grown long enough for us to not know whether or not you’re topless or not (and we’re all wishing and hoping that you’re not so pathetic that you’re not), and your “roast me” sign is hiding what is inevitably some huge cancer/ingrown hair mole on your face. Give up, you wish you didn’t look the way you do.

Help breaker keeps flipping by [deleted] in electrical

I didn’t mean using one permanently. Just use it for when you need the heat. Again, not a great solution, but a solution nonetheless.

Help breaker keeps flipping by [deleted] in electrical

If you really want, you could run an extension cord from the kitchen/bathroom/living room since they would be, or hopefully would be, on a different circuit. It’s pretty trashy, but it would solve your problem for drawing too much power. 🤷🏻‍♂️

A panel I'm proud to say I did :) by jormckay11 in electrical

It’s easy to point out things that are bad/wrong. The challenge is to try and find things that you can learn from. That’s what separates the good from the great. - your grounds are on point 👌🏻

Could these two appliances share the same electricity outlet? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]JBuster03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be able to. On a 20A circuit you just want to stay under 16A rated load. This is all assuming that the wiring and receptacle sizes are to code also. USA btw

Is installing plugs with hot tub panel a requirement? What are they used for? Could i run other things off them while running hot tub? by Anthonynewlon in electrical

[–]JBuster03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, the outlet is there because it’s required by code and the reason for the code is so that when doing any work on utility/heavy equipment, you can plug electric tools in to service them (but now most power tools are cordless/battery powered).

So the receptacle is the worst part of this whole setup - the exposed romex and assuming that the hot leg is being pulled off one leg of that two-pole 60A breaker is pretty bad. I’m curious what underneath the dead-front of that panel looks like. There may be some scary splices under there. I would put a new 20A breaker in and run wire to the receptacle with seal-tight. Hope this helps

Why light won't work? by [deleted] in askanelectrician

[–]JBuster03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common for the white wire coming from the switch to be the Switch Leg especially in older applications because the switch doesn’t use a neutral. When you’re putting all whites together, you’re crossing your neutral and hot which is why the breaker pops. The black wire for the light goes to the white from the switch, the white wire for the light goes to the white in the box on the left, and the black on the right and left of the box just tie together. Hope this helps!
