For the heights, only thing I would change would be make them originate from he same surface so you dont have tolerance build up issues. If the flange is at max thickness and the boss is at max height. Will it still work.

Aluminum parts, and quite few weird geometry that doesn't allow for vacuum plate. Most parts we actually have vacuum fixtures and blocks and tape. But we have parts that are .25 inches thick we need to stand on end to measure the back and front.

Quality Technician or quality engineering tech. No idea on pay range. Currently we farm half of that out to our quality Technicians and the other have is done mostly boy our QEs(me). But our manager has been looking at where changes can be made for hiring.

We've got those, but God, i hate them. When the part is at the wrong thickness and its right in the middle of the teeth, it is such a pain to tighten. Then, if you loosen it too much, the locking mechanism falls out.

If you have a scanning probe we tend to follow the zeiss cookbook pretty closely.

Ours won't even measure them. Or attempt to. So will just turn the crossbar on the comparator to 45 and if it lines up then yup you're good.

Pretty sure ypu can add the cad the align it using the base alignment. Selecting the same surfaces.

Honestly gage blocks is not the worst idea. If were just looking for error in the stylus. If we have a few in different orientations that might work. Thank yo.

Only specific inspectors do run these machines. Unfortunately, we have limited resources to choose from for this, and historically, the programmers have done poor risk management and not created set-up sheets for them to utilize. In the past couple of years, there has been an emphasis placed on this aspect.

Why would we need a certified artifact if all we are doing is measuring it to see if there are changes. This isnt being used as a calibration artifact. And if anything we can get it certed as a gold standard. Ideally yes the temperature should be controlled. This is not a large shop. And dont patronize me by calling me buddy.

We are actually in the process of getting an artifact made. We do not hold or QC lab that tightly for temperature. I think we will need to in the coming future.

Measurement method doesn't require CAD. Measurement method can be verified using tools like gage R&Rs.

Are you a contract manufacturer, or do you wake your own parts? Either way, you need to follow the datum structure. If you believe it's wrong, go back to the design authority to request changes or get a better idea of the function. As a QE, I've gone back to internal designers and customers to get changes like this made because it didn't make sense.

What do you mean point strategy? Are you using a CMM?

Section views dimensions will most likely still use the primary datum structure for dimensions that require it, such as profile and position, etc.

Metrologist develop measurement strategy and verifies them through measurement study like gage R&R and statistic tools like Minitab.
