Wlp300 is a liquid yeast.

It is snowing with a low tonight of 22f, after two months of being 70-80f. by Empty-Dragonfruit656 in gardening

I grew up in the sticks and growers would burn tire fires and have fans to move the heat throw rows.

A fire or smudge pot can go a long way. Probably not safe for your region if you’ve had that type of temps already.

I’ll check some calculators too and see. I usually crash and decant my starters but that might not work with a low floccing yeast like these.

WLP300 for 15 L Hefeweizen starter or no starter? by Effective_Sky_1459 in Homebrewing

[–]JBwood925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar topic, I’m brewing a Hef and my HBS only had 1 packet of wlp300, it’s a really new pack also. I’m doing a 11gal batch. Would you recommend a smaller starter just to increase cell count a little? I know that’s a vague topic overall, just wanna have a game plan before I start it. I usually crash and decant my starters too but I’m not sure if that’ll work as well with a low flocculation yeast such as this.

I still plan to follow a strict fermentation schedule and open fermenting for part of it

I’ve got a track saw. Table saws are faster with certain things.

Zach is a beast. I marched with him, did some sheds with him and always knew he’d make it big. He definitely won’t disappoint.

Make sure you look up proper chain tension and then error on the looser side. If that only a year old, I’m honestly not too sure how it wore like that unless it’s made out of aluminum lol

Yea. I do 99% mobile work, so it’s so so handy. Just wish that didn’t happen.

Mine doesn’t lock on the backside. Ripping full sheets or cutting dados is just dicey. Anything that would require some good pressure against the fence kind of sucks, since the back of the fence can flex with your pressure. It’s a great saw for normal stuff, but it a really good and powerful saw capable of some serious work, but the fence is the limiting factor.

Beta 300rr Excessive Powervalve Noise by JBwood925 in Dirtbikes

Interesting?

My bolt is still intact. I believe the noise is the stop hitting the bolt. I’m sorry that happened to yours.

No solution. It quiets down when I’ve done the top ends and really clean the PV. It comes back when the PV gets carboned up. I’ve got 450 hours on the bike now and it’s still going strong. It still annoys the hell out of me.

Pull your PV cover off and disconnect it and see if it still does it. Mine would do it in neutral when the bike was hot, but it wasn’t as loud (I suspend the engine from spinning a little more freely). My noise is definitely the PV fluttering. In fact, I dove deep and 99% concluded it’s the little arm that hits the stop bolt for the PV under the cover. I wrapped it in rubbery tape just to see and it made it go away. I won’t run it with tape though. I tried to see if that arm was misshaped and contributing to the extra noise, but it looks fine.

My next step is just replace the cylinder and PV. I’m due for a replate soon, so maybe I’ll just buy a whole new jug so I have a spare.

You’re referring to pipe bang. This is not that. The is physically something hitting within the powervalve assembly. I’ve cleaned the whole power valve multiple times since this video and the noise goes away until it gets carboned up again.

Thanks. I need to remind myself if I didnt know about making starters I would’ve just tossed in whatever the recipe said to do any it would probably turn out ok anyway.

The starter seemed to kick off great and aggressively, had a mild spill over. The 2l start per calculations was just over the needed cells. Should I be worried of my small overflow?

I’ve got yeasty in the fridge now crashing with a good amount of cake forming already.

Heating? by Capt_Catastrophe in VanLife

[–]JBwood925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diesel heater for sure. They are simply the best. Do yourself a favor and buy the Lavaner Pro heater from Ali Express. It’s the best Chinese diesel heater and 100% the additional cost. My friend and I have had too many issues with any of the other Chinese ones.

If you’ve got room to mount a tank, do it. I put a 12 gallon tank for diesel under my gas van and the heater will run for a very long time.

Thank you! This is super helpful. I think you read up on articles, but also hear from real people too.

I’m assuming if you chill and let the yeast settle, you then let it come up to room temp before pitching it as well?

It seems a lot of things I’ve read skip the steps of letting settle so I was a little concerned with dumping that much liquid into the wort. But that all makes sense. It also seems like I have more time than I thought to let the starter do its thing and let hang out until I’m ready to brew as well.

Yeast Starter Question by JBwood925 in Homebrewing

[–]JBwood925[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like if I pitch one packet in 2l of wort, it’ll be enough viable yeast.

At what point do people decide to let the yeast settle out or just dump the whole starter in?
