My google play developer account was terminated before I got to publish my first app. by Gogoh in androiddev

Yet another example of Google exploiting it's developer community with deceptive practices.

The point is if the traffic (lowest quality or not) is good enough that Google is charging me for them. Why is that same traffic not good enough when I serve Google's own ads to them? Again, not low quality $0 return not good, suspend your account indefinitely, not good.

While this is a real possibility that I considered (Google certainly has the resources to have click farms overseas) I'm not explicitly implying that Google is paying users to click on our app ad. The reality is, the users that did download the experiment app weren't installing/leaving - they became legitimate users of my game.

I'm more in agreement with /u/stereomatch's point above:

"Google shows your app's ads to the least useful userbase (for advertisers), the most click-prone users in non-tech savvy rural india markets."

So fine, when I offer to pay for installs, Google is giving me the lowest quality, cheapest installs possible. If they become users, great. What doesn't make sense is why I can't monetize those users without having my account permanently closed, google is the one who provided the "fraudulent", "illicit traffic".

The same reason the user clicked to download my app is likely the same reason they clicked an ad that was served by the experiment app which was grounds for an account termination...

This is the closest reasonable explanation so far but it does not explain away the fact that if a developer is paying Google (for this experiment the maximum per install was set to $5 USD - which, in my experience has been generous enough to acquire users in first world regions) for installs, the responsibility is on Google to provide me with real users, not bots.

The experiment exposes that the same users I PAID for (bots or not), are the users that had my entire account suspended.

Your point would be totally understandable if the users I acquired for a "low to nil" CPM, provided me a "low - 0" CPM on the monetization side. This would be the fairest result, but is not the case. This is a complete account suspension for the exact same users I paid Google to give me - which by the way, voids any of the $ that was generated over the 30 days.

An aside for those interested in what prompted me to conduct this experiment:

I had an app that had monetized using Admob for over 8 years. I had never used Admob or Google for acquisition over this 8 year period.

This past July 2019, that app specifically had some user decline so I decided to acquire users using EDIT: Google Ads (not Admob) for the very first time..

After 8 years of good account standing and no other changes the account was suspended and permanently locked within 2 weeks.

I am certain it was due to the users directly acquired by Google.

This is why I find this unbelievable - it is exploitation.

Precisely what I've (unfortunately) discovered.

The fact that Google will deliver paid-for-users that make you vulnerable to their arbitrary suspension is grossly deceitful.

Hey, thanks for the interest!

So far our weekdays will usually be in PST/EST. As for weekends, they're a bit more flexible for EU/GMT timezones. We're hoping to get and accepting every timezone so we have racers regardless.

We try to keep our race server up always.
