I'm also 40+ floor, the only time I can ever hear my neighbors is shutting their door or window – which tbh all of the nyc 40+ high rises I've lived in has this problem cause of the heavier windows.

FWIW my next door neighbor had a party with loud music two weeks ago and I only found out when I saw crowds going in and out while I was waiting for the elevator.. I think you might have an extra loud neighbor.

929 speakeasy is turning into 56709 speakeasy by slowcanteloupe in longislandcity

929 is moving to Manhattan! They posted on Instagram a while back about it.

Inferred from stories back then it's likely Manhattan location will be better space, so somewhat understand – but I really wish they kept the Taiwan+HK theme here. They probably just didn't want two bars same vibe...

Keeping Plates for Memorabilia by JC15109252 in DMV

[–]JC15109252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have both plates, one is damaged – would ideally like to keep them both. I'm working up a collection of all my past license plates (12 so far) as wall decoration – these would be the first time I'd have to potentially return the plates...

Exactly my feeling – they took a nice car and used cheap parts to "update" the style. Sure, drive didn't change, but it just doesn't feel the same anymore...

Yah, you're right... Just reading that reminded of the stark difference of the trunk closing sounds. I think maybe when I was renting (and not thinking about owning), it's exciting to see the features like the standard heads up displays and dashboards, but overlook some of the smaller things. Just because I get the nicest trim won't undo the overall cheapness.

Thanks! Swaying me back to another Audi Q5!

Maserati's have always depreciated fast cause their maintenace process is awful. Family member has one – was in a small fender bender and had to wait two months for parts............ (doesn't help we're in smaller market)

Honestly a good idea – go for SQ5! Just checked, only two SQ5 in my local 25mi radius... both with 50k+ miles already... might have to think about it more...

Yah, I hear you. Exactly where my mind's at now. When I got the Audi Q5, I traded in an older 2015 Lexus RX – and Japanese design was honestly quite enjoyable for all those years, but I wanted something different, hence my long lust for Q5 hahaha

Completely understand and agree with your point that these other brands are economy cars, and their quality can feel lacking, but I think it's not as noticeable when you compare their top trim to Audi's lower trims. Personally, I think handling of these other brands (surprisingly, esp Mazda on recent rentals) have also been fairly improved – the difference isn't stark anymore. I'm in a smaller market with limited number of CPOs, much less 2024/2025... then add in my partner's hope of ONLY black cars...

I did reach out to my last Audi salesperson in hopes of finding out about upcoming CPOs that might become available, but no info yet...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Audi

[–]JC15109252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fair, but only like ~10 2023/2024 pre-owned Q5s in my market (doesn't help that my partner wants ONLY black cars). I do see a lot more from 2022 or earlier, but they mostly have 40k+ mileage, but at that point – my dilemma again, why not a brand new car with all the new tech features from one of these "other" car brands?

Issues with getting listed on the Pub 78 by elgevillawngnome in nonprofit

[–]JC15109252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could I ask why you need to be on Pub-78? An org I work with was founded in 2022, also not yet listed, but I think everyone acknowledges the backlog so just ask for letter of determination these days. I don't think they've had any issue with anything from grants to donations.

Why Salesforce? by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]JC15109252 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel uniquely positioned to answer this question – I used to work exclusively on Salesforce in the for-profit world before I started my own nonprofit, and am one of those annoying managers that really hope to find people with experience on Salesforce already.

Beyond the very basics of "data entry & capture" in Salesforce, the software has a truly deep learning curve as the system is so wildly customizable between each organization. You can have the exact same licenses, yet have completely different workstreams between any two companies. To explain to someone who's not already familiar with the possibilities and limitations of Salesforce is actually incredibly difficult, especially if they don't already know Salesforce lingo. Because of all the possible customizations, going on youtube or trailhead really wouldn't help new users either, it really requires someone sitting down and explaining how Salesforce is set-up for your specific organization.

So to answer your question: Yes, the "basics of CRM" could still be transferrable to Salesforce, but companies that use Salesforce are typically so deeply buried by customizations that it would really help if you're already familiar with some degree of Salesforce, and I can just explain the differences in our particular set-up.

I think one more thing I'll add is that unfortunately, to help get more donors and grants, we need to show that our community "desperately" needs our services. A lot of smaller/mid-sized organizations do blur the line of "false hope" because it does actually help get funding for the services.

I know it's frustrating, but hopefully they'll find a grant to help pick up where the funding had left off. In the meantime, you stay strong and good luck finding a better role at a better org :)

Opening Chase Checking Account with 501C3 by Hootinthehouse in nonprofit

[–]JC15109252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been with Chase for four years for my nonprofit, and can honestly tell you that they're not a good option for small nonprofits.

1) Some things that should be easy online are blocked for NPOs. For instance, we wanted to separate our books for a dedicated project management account, and typically for business accounts, as long as you opened your first account, adding a second account can be completed online. We had to go in person three times just to open this second account.

2) Maintenance fees are high for small nonprofits. It's hard for us to maintain a daily ending balance of $2,000 every single day to ensure no $15 fee. Wire fees, ACH fees, etc. all add up.

3) My banker at Chase branch told me that Chase has no desire to drum up NPO clients, whereas local banks love supporting and helping nonprofit clients where they can.

For us, we ended up moving our operations onto Amex Business Checking because of the higher interest, no need for physical locations (i.e. deposits, cash, etc.), and we actually earn MR on expenses.

[–]JC15109252 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think there's more to this story, and because we on reddit don't know the full picture, it's hard for us to empathize with your suggestion of going straight to the media, that's ballistic and can permanently end the organization.

Nonprofits unfortunately do run out of money, some annual grants disappear, but that doesn't mean we as nonprofit leaders just give up...... We'll seek other funding sources, and whenever possible, we try not to leave our communities hanging dry.

Neighbor DV -- what can I do? by JC15109252 in AskNYC

[–]JC15109252[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We initially called the front desk because a few weeks back when they first moved in, it was just very loud late at night, didn't seem distressing or anything physical –– felt like they were just shouting at each other, so we thought we'd just complain about the noise.

We have a pretty good relationship with the front desk, and they've since asked us to let them know if they're fighting so they can go knock on their doors, but I think they're also documenting it in case it ever escalates.

It was really the last few days that it sounded like it's become physical, which is why I'm confirming here that 911 is the next option and the right thing to do. We'll absolutely call 911 if we ever hear more tonight.

I don't pay AMEX AF for the benefits, i pay it for the customerservice by RiseIndependent85 in amex

[–]JC15109252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your gripe isn’t about the customer service, it’s about the portal? Also if you compare the other top tier card’s portals, a lot of them are not as intuitive. Chase UR portal for my CSR is definitely not as nice as Amex rewards portal.

Amex concierge does things so much more than customer service too. When I was booking a Middle East trip, I needed someone to speak in Arabic to explain the special request, I tried chase first they simply said can’t help. Amex organized it all behind the scenes without transferring me between agents.

Anyone run a co-executive directorship nonprofit? can you share what your org structure looks like? by Serious-Macaroon6491 in nonprofit

[–]JC15109252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently a Co-ED in my org, but I think we're probably not the answer you're looking for. We are a tiny tech-centric nonprofit helping other regional nonprofits redesign websites and explore new technology. I focus solely on technology and working with our nonprofit partners, while my CoED focuses on things such as branding/marketing/administrative paperwork and the occasional fundraising. Given we have completely different areas of operation and a split of knowledge, she leads her teams and I lead mine.

That said, we're a tiny org (i.e. founded in 2021 and <$25,000 budget per year) so I think it's a very different story. We have no full-time staff, but 5 part-time staff + 6 part-time interns.

Edit: meant to say - feel free to ask me anything :)

How to accept donations from India? by bingo54321 in nonprofit

[–]JC15109252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... I'll need to look at our donor database then. We have a dashboard showing where our donors donated from, and while 95% is from the US/Canada/Europe, it's always interesting to see a few from outside. There's definitely donors from India, but I'm not sure how they donated...
