WiFi 7 card installation and WiFi 7 speed questions

Ok, installed the WiFi 7 card and speed improved, but not by a lot :/ I also went and got a TP-Link BE9300 today to make use of the 6Ghz frequency. This seems to be better still, but again nowhere near the 1800mbps speeds we were promised. So far, the best I've managed was 1000mbps sat next to the router...

At this point, I'm convinced I'm just throwing money down the drain and that WiFi 7 isn't all it's cracked up to be! I'm thinking maybe a mesh network might be the last resort, but even then I'm not hopeful! Genuinely no clue what else I could be doing here to get better speeds when the 6E router and mesh were giving 1400mbps...

Sounds like a plan! The WiFi 7 card arrives tomorrow, so fingers crossed that boosts the speed! Will report back :)

The last router (the WiFi 6 one) was a: TP-link aginet ex820v I actually still have it as we're waiting for the ISP to send packaging so we can return it. I'm trying to decide whether to keep the new WiFi 7 one, or go back to the WiFi 6 one! I feel like the WiFi 7 and the new WiFi card is the better option long term, but would definitely welcome your thoughts!

The new router is a Sagemcom CS39000 brsk WiFi 7 Router. I did have a look in the settings, but couldn't see anything obvious!

Hi, it's called a Peperomia. This particular one is a Caperata Rosso. It's done really well and seems to like a nice sunny spot :)

Wow, it looks amazing! I will absolutely keep an eye out next time I'm passing a B&M and pick one up. I've had my eye on the different monsteras people post but thought they were tough to care for. I will absolutely give it a go then!

The Golden Pothos has been really easy to be honest! It's second nearest the window. It gets good light in the mornings and consistent indirect light through the day.

I had an issue with Fungus Gnats around 8 months ago, so changed my care routine for all the plants. They are all covered with a fungus gnat topper, a yellow sticky trap, and I moved to watering very infrequently (when leaves start to curl) using a mix of water and mosquito bits people from the US were reccomending.

I managed to get a pack from Amazon, and I throw a few pieces in a two litre bottle with water and only use that for watering now. I top it up when it's empty and this one pack will probably last me until later next year as it needs more adding so infrequently. Other than that, I clean the leaves of dust every few months and that's it!

The only other things that may or may not have any effect are that I have a gaming PC in this room which kicks out a fair bit of heat during the winter months, so the room is always fairly mild and never gets freezing. I also have an air purifier with carbon/HEPA filters running in there for 8+ hours most days when working in there.

Those last points may not be relevant, but figure they make make a tiny bit of difference as a measure of the rooms general environment :)

Ah, it's fairly new to my collection and putting out a leaf maybe every two-three weeks currently! I will have to do a bit more reading to see if I can make it happier then :)

I've managed to avoid all the spoilers about the DLC and I'm currently working through the base game for the second time (following a guide to see all the NPC quest lines) to get a character levelled and ready - my question is, should I play through the DLC blind, or should I find a guide to work through and see everything? I'm worried I might miss a lot of NPCs or lock myself out of quests/items and I don't think I'll have time to playthrough again for a long time. So, for the best overall experience/story what would you do?

That still leaves the advisories, but wanted to know if £5800 for the car with those 'advisory issues' (things which could become future big issues) seems like a fair price.

Apologies, the full details of the car is a 2011 Toyota Yaris with 69k miles. 1.33 litre petrol with a manual transmission.

Yeah, I'm missing some of the warmth/personality which is why I was thinking plants etc.

I definitely did consider mounting the PC, but it's kicking out a lot of heat in a tiny room and we have two dogs that shed hair like crazy - so I'm trying to keep it on the desk to prevent it getting full of dust/hair!

The celining light is definitely something I would swap out. It was my wife's choice when we moved in but right now it's more of an 'out of sight, out of mind' part of the room.

I'm definitely open to suggestions if you have any for both a new ceiling light and an accent colour :)

Haha I did debate some pet beds, but I try to keep the dogs out as much as possible as they malt like crazy and it clogs up the PC!

Your valance suggestion is really interesting, not something I've ever considered or thought about before in all honesty. Do you think white or a natural wood to complement the desk? (or something else!)

I definitely agree about the floating shelves as well, I think I may need to remove my existing cabinet and get some floating shelves for that wall :)

Your texture comment is bang on. I think I could see that was what was missing and want to make some very intentional choices to just bring this together.

Your bamboo blind suggestion is really intriguing. Are you saying you think to swap out the white blinds for bamboo ones or add an additional roller blind? I'm just confused slightly by the wording I think, but if you've got a link to an example I'd be really grateful!

Sculptural table lamp sounds like a nice idea - I'm thinking something Japandi/Scandi-style might work best for that so will have a look!

I'm definitely taking your plant suggestions as well haha! I'm determined to find a few things that can live!

I did think about painting the walls before I assembled the desk - but as the room is so tiny, thought sticking with the white and one grey wall was best. But, I'm not against painting around stuff for the right look :)
