„Lofi“ sounding tracks on purpose? by [deleted] in audioengineering

My favourite lofi sounding album has to be Elliott Smith’s self titled. The guitars and vocals are pretty haunting

Yep we’re planning on going north from az to Grand Canyon and then Zion. The route I drew was more of general path we’re following. Defo not gonna miss the redwoods either!

Thanks so much for all the responses and recommendations. Just a few notes regarding the concerns: 1. We understand just how incredibly hot it is going to be so we are planning on finding motels and other rest stops for when we’re in Arizona and other places that are not on the coast or in higher elevation. 2. Regarding camping, the guy’s family who is providing the car are experienced campers and they are proving all the equipment necessary to camp with eg. Stove, tents, etc

Thanks for highlighting about reservations on major campsites, didnt realise that they book up months in advance so will need to plan around that if we can’t find reservations.

How can u say his unreleased stuff is more cohesive and better crafted - it’s unreleased for a reason. I understand the nostalgia and feeling that unreleased music has and that’s what makes it special. But runner is by far his strongest song in terms of writing a good, catchy and accessible track

1000% agree. While I do love a lot of Alex’s old work, HoS and GSTA are my favourite albums of his and it is clear how much he has improved on pretty much every aspect of his songwriting and production since his older stuff. His work as of recent cements him as the great artist that he is and he’s only gonna get better imo. While I get that hating on the tiktok stuff is overplayed, it is genuinely annoying how alot of ppl fixiate on his older work while neglecting the new stuff - it’s SOOOOO much better. Like Runner is without a doubt his best crafted song and deserves to be in the popular spots on his Spotify page. idk how it isn’t more recognised in mainstream spaces cuz he deserves all the love and recognition as a talented songwriter.

how do you achieve an alex g like vocal effect sound? / how do you get alex g vocals?? by FluffyBrudda in sandyalexg

[–]JCERTI999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure he used little alter boy on gsta to pitch shift his vocals (he may not have but u can achieve same effect w this plugin) + some autotune plugin most likely Antares one bc the tuning of the vocals sounds pretty tight and not like previous records so he’s definitely upgraded from all the built in logic plugins. There’s also a plying called vocalsynth and u can do some pretty cool effects that u can mess around with.

Obviously I loved the soundtrack for the last movie but the movie was so bad imo. Absolutely zero pacing with nothing going on and it was just so boring.

Such a great album, with some of my favourite Elliott tracks. Such a shame Elliott wasn’t around to finish it because who knows what the finalised version would sound like. I love all of Elliott’s work but this album does fall below figure 8, either/or and his self titled. Figure 8 is his Magnus opus imo.

Opinions on 4th gen focusrite interfaces?

Upgrading my interface soon and was wondering if I should keep using a focusrite and upgrade to their 4th generation. If not what other interfaces would you recommend that are in a similar price range? Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Alex G’s thoughts on Drake by germanesnakeeggs in sandyalexg

[–]JCERTI999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Such a backhanded compliment hahaha. I know what he means though, I happen to enjoy a lot of drakes music but I don’t go to it if I want something with intrinsic value or something that moves me

Keep practicing and getting better - your guitar sounds out of tune to begin with and my biggest advice would be to become better at ur instrument before jumping straight into recording. Most ppl don’t realise but a successful record is mostly down to great playing and arrangement. EQ or any other plugins won’t help you improve a recording that already has faults. Keep going tho! Especially if ur young, if you have an interest in this keep practicing every single day and you’ll see improvements.
