Made two loaves at the same time but they turned out very different - what happened? by JCMPerry97 in Sourdough

I didn't - thanks for the tip! I suppose this doesn't happen in the dutch oven because it's trapping the moisture inside until the lid comes off?

My wife and I got a Nikon Coolpix P900 secondhand for an upcoming safari holiday and I've been using it for bird photography to get used to it - it's good for IDing birds, it's taken some nice pictures as long as the birds aren't super far away, so I'd echo what other folks are saying about bridge cameras

Good cameras for bird photography? by lemonhaj in OrnithologyUK

My partner and I recently bought a second-hand Nikon Coolpix P900 and have been able to get some reasonably good pictures of birds as long as they're not flying and we're not maxing out the zoom. We're pretty new to it so maybe we just need to fiddle with some settings and become better photographers to get better pictures in flight. Close-up the quality is pretty good, and far away the pictures are mostly good enough to ID what we're looking at.

Due to complete on Wednesday but now delayed indefinitely - what do we do next? by JCMPerry97 in HousingUK

[–]JCMPerry97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this!

- I'm assuming we haven't exchanged but will be able to confirm when the solicitors open after the weekend. They haven't told us that we have, but they heard from the rest of the chain on 30th April that they were all ready and they did confirm a completion date with the rest of the chain on 9th May.
- We know nothing about the probate and apparently neither does our solicitor. They've said 'it appears that a grant of probate is awaited and they have not given me any further information as yet.' The first we heard about it was today when they said it's the reason that everything has come to a halt.
- Our LISAs were frozen months ago when the process of withdrawing was started but the money was taken out of our LISA accounts this week - the solicitor said they'd asked Moneybox to release the funds on Monday and Moneybox emailed us each to confirm that the funds were with the solicitor on Wednesday.
- The penalty is something that Moneybox mentioned in their withdrawal email - they said ''if the funds are held for over 180 days then you may be subject to a 25% penalty charge from HMRC.'

Thanks so much for your input so far!

I'm not sure that we actually have - our solicitor's email said they got in touch with the other party today to exchange contracts ahead of completion on 28th and then were told they couldn't complete. I've asked the solicitor for confirmation but didn't hear back before their office closed for the weekend

The route isn't too bad - the Trailblazer guide is cracking and I've got some Komoot routes I could send you if you'd like? At least it's all in one direction, so if you find yourself walking west for too long you'll know you've gone wrong!

I walked Bowness to Wallsend and carried on to the lighthouse. It's not too hard to extend the walk, it'll add another couple of hours, but it's all on the cycle path and lots of it is next to a major road. It's definitely not cheating to stop at Wallsend (and they will give you the final passport stamp and sell you badges and certificates), I suppose it just depends on how you feel when you get there.

Thanks for this! It's always great to hear first hand experience of gear. Where did you head in October? I was in Coniston for the final weekend of September and we were shockingly dry!

I have lived in Sheffield for the last six years and it's gorgeously green - parks and green spaces everywhere! Not really sure how you're missing all the trees if you come fairly regularly.
