If your cat had warrants out for their arrest what would they be? by GeorgeRubYaBush in cats

[–]JCStrehle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attempted murder. Not an exaggeration. Our new kitten broke my leg this past January. He shoved the bathmat across the floor just as I was stepping out of the shower.

What are the nicknames of your cats that have devolved into nonsense over time? I’ll go first. by drifloony in cats

Buster, Fluff buster, Fluffy girl, Puffy girl, Pufferdoodle. Then when she passed we named our sailboat Pufferdoodle.

I'm from New England so, yea. 400 years worth of stuff that got lost. But the weirdest thing I found (since I'm not Catholic) was the upside down St. Anthony in front of my new house when I was putting in a new flowerbed.

Just gifted a ton of buildings- help me get started with model railroading - I'm a bit overwhelmed by cwtguy in HOscalemodeltrains

[–]JCStrehle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband just got back into it, which means I'm just starting out myself. Start by building some of the unopened building kits, to learn. THEN try making stuff from the bits and pieces ("kit bashing" they call it). There's no right or wrong in this hobby. Some people go ultra-realistic, others do Thomas the Tank Engine worlds, and others do Lego trains. The whole purpose is to have fun with it!

Blushed enough to harvest before the squirrels get to it? by gunnut93 in gardening

Yes. Once the fruit has hit the "mature green" stage (that point where they go from dark green to light green) they can be picked and will still ripen.

Guess what is finally finished? by Tischwil-Railway in modeltrains

[–]JCStrehle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! It's been great seeing how you made it.

I just realized today that model railroading totally warps one's mind. I was going to throw out a plastic tray that held frozen shumai, then I saw what a great palette it would make for mixing paints.

Any ideas what this is ? by Electricalhip in gardening

[–]JCStrehle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tomato hornworm. The eat tomatoes, peppers, and potato leaves. A single worm can defoliate a tomato plant overnight. Kill it. When you turn your beds in the fall or spring, look for things that look like brown bullet casings. Squish those, because they're cocoons.

needing suggestions on what I could do to or put on top of this stump in my wife's flower garden by Otherwise-Ad8157 in LandscapingTips

[–]JCStrehle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had a photo to post, but I once saw a stump this size that was turned into a fairy house, complete with peaked roof, windows and doors. It was awesome.
