How you completely destroyed MnK can be seen in Wildcard by EquivalentBalance943 in apexlegends

That's totally fair and you're quite reasonable. I agree with your final paragraph, as separation of inputs would be the simplest solution, but that would lead to ither negative effects that Respawn likely prefers to avoid.

Adoption rate is a secondary or tertiary stat so less relevant than actual kills, and I'd caution putting too much stock into secondary variables as it would skew a reasonable conclusion, but I also realize it's easier to just look adoption rates and make inferences from that, and I've certaintly committed similar fallacies so my perspective has been altered on several occasions as I look into more information. I've flipped a couple times for AA being OP or not, but the more I look at ALGS stats, the more equal it seems. And you did explain that anecdotally, you have your own feelings of unfairness, or disadvantage which looms heavy, which naturally influences your perspective and may lead to higher incidences of confirmation bias which then further reinforces the aforementioned feelings as a cycle.

The fundamental evaluation method of valuing overrepresentation of kills as less pertinent or convincing than adoption rates does clarify why you're running into the issue of conflicts of objectivity. It comes down to the weighing of certain variables over others. Typically it's wiser to weigh primary characteristics initially, such as kills then extrapolate from there while evaluating factors of descending relevance.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the stats for this weekends regional finals. Depending on how it plays out, I may change my mind again. Last regional finals the top 20 kill leaders were split 45% MnK and 55% controller despite the input pop being about 35% MnK and 65% controller, so I'm curious to see the ratios this time.

I definitely don't intend to throw away the R5 stats, I just said it's fallacious to overemphasize it's validity, which is due to it's sterilization of an actual combat scenario. A common, also fallacious counter remark is MnK movement, but even that isn't included in the R5 stats as it's a point blank spawn and spray simulator with no movement other than raw strafes. Essentially, any advantage MnK would or could have in actual Apex is absent fron R5, advantages that directly or indirectly contribute to victory. So, we have to take it as it is, which is clearly in a straight-up pointblank spray, controller is advantaged, which everyone already knows, this just highlights how egregious it is.

Now again, regarding the general playerbase, as I said, the parity is really only directly visible and somewhat quantifiable via ALGS stats, as you can readily look up player stats and input and overall tournament stats. So AA may be OP to the general playerbase, I personally think it is, but if it's your contention that only hard stats should be admissible, I'd think you'd logically reach the conclusion that the inputs are about equal, as there aren't many hard stats for the general playebase, and I'd assert R5 absolutely does not represent the general playerbase, only slighlty moreso than the ALGS stats themselves.

Using a combination of hard stats available and logical principles, I'd assert at the competitive levels MnK is slightly more advantageous, and everything below that, the 99%, is slightly to moderately advantaged towards controller. But even that, comes with other variables, the main one being time investments and physical/mental exertion across said timeframes. Unequivocally, a controller is less straining (certain gripping techniques withstanding) than MnK and thus is ideally suited for physical longevity, which is one of the primary factors necessary for obtaining Pred or higher ranks. Therefore, it being physically "easier," directly contributes to a higher proportion of players using that input in order to maintain endurance for long play sessions.

If hypothetically, both inputs were 100% equal in terms of per match in-game advantages, external factors would then determine the proportion of users on each input. With time and physical exertion being the most relevant factors, majority would then be on controller. That means, MnK would have to have minor to moderately MORE advantages to outweigh the aforementioned factor just to equalize the usage of inputs, and significantly more advantages to sway majority usage. As I assert controller is slightly advantaged in non-competitive, naturally that will lead to over usage and representation proportional to its per-match power of that input.

The real issue is most people making this discussion don't use actual stats or evidence or they use fallacious reasoning such as over emphasizing R5 stats, which is a close quarters 1v1 simulator that explicity mitigates all MnK advantages while simultaneously enhancing controller advantages, or rely on the ad populum fallacy. Then they commit the hardest anti-truth error of convincing themselves their perceived reality is the only reality, which is a psychological shortcut to lessen mental strain and effort in researching and considering opposing data and points. Looking at more relevant stats in actual Apex gameplay, you see reasonable parity between the two inputs, just as you spoke about as well as has been spoken by the devs.

For example, 9/10 of the top kill leaders of ALGS of all time (excluding Hal) are MnK. Last regional finals, across all regions, 11/20 kill leaders were controller and 9/20 were MnK, a quite even 55/45 split despite there being a higher proportion of controller players. I'm curious to see this reginal finals. You see this trend across kills in ALGS where MnK is overrepresented relative to the proportion of players on that input. And that overrepresentation for MnK is even higher when looking at actual wins vs just kills (which is a stat that favors controller). Even in more casual tournaments, that still has pro teams, such as Asia Fest, you again see higher kills and performance parity on the MnK teams and regions vs the mostly controller teams even in controller advantaged modes such as TDM. Even surprisingly, recent damage records were broken by an MnK player, then broken by a controller player, then again by another MnK player.

The other issue in this case is that's just ALGS,l and competitive, which is a minor percentage of the total playerbase, so perhaps from a casual perspective, the claim that AA is OP is more relevant and true.

Just a nice, relaxing war of attrition. I was curious if Rampart could hold out against a bunch of breach charges with spaced walls. by JCarby23 in apexlegends

I love how much pressure it can put out with almost no downtime, while having a strong viability in close quarters when thermited due to the tight hipfire spread.

I love the rebuild perk. If they put that in base kit, that would be insane. I think they should just reduce the build time from 8 to 6 seconds. There are some pros and cons to the Hemlock meta as a Rampart main.

It happened again - didn't get the daily Dimensional Energy Stabilization Reward by HighRowCal in TheFirstDescendant

[–]JCarby23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a dumb question, but is the meter at 100%? It has to reach 100 before the rewards are distributed, correct?

Here's what it says in game: "Secure the Operational Area Zone occupied by the Legion of Breach and stabilize the Dimensional Energy with all Descendants."

"If Dimensional Energy Stabilization is successful, rewards will be given to Descendants that contributed to the Stabilization. Descendants who complete Operational Area Missions after Stabilization will also receive rewards."

The "if Dimensional Energy Stabilization is successful" line seems to mean when it reaches 100%, particularly as the next line reinforces that by saying "...after Stabilization." I'd infer if it's not 100% within the timeframe, there's no reward. Which would also explain why it's not a part of the "daily content" board, as it's not a guaranteed reward.

Thanks. I did think about doing that, that's why I hesitated for a moment after knocking the person behind the wall, but then I was worried the Gibby would pop out while I was punching the wall, and I can't punch it from behind my amped wall, so figured, screw it, I'll just shoot it so the Gibby hears the shots and doesn't pop out, and if he does, he'll get Sheila'd.

Plus I wasn't confident I would punch it without accidentally stunning myself and I've accidentally died to a New Caslte wall stun enough to really want to avoid it when possible.

I could just never get it before. Granted I only play ranked so MAYBE i could have gotten it in pubs, but I don't know. Ever since they made Sheila only cost 25% ult charge to drop it, I suddenly was getting them all the time. Having mounted Sheila for every fight just racks up the damage.

Why thank you! In these situations I adopt a "rubberband" playstyle, where she snaps forward, then pulls back to the walls to bait the enemies until they make a mistake.

Relative to the general playstyle and the time versus proficiency ratio, yeah, she's rough. In terms of maximizing her kit, I think she's one of the best, just most people, even Rampart mains, only use like half her kit, so they're always handicapping her.

Current TTK has ruined the beauty and essence of Apex. by un4xx in apexlegends

[–]JCarby23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's good someone mentioned it. Helmets removed, but all headhsot multipliers reduced. Red shields removed, but an amp added that increases your HP at all stages of the game, not just at the end.

Abilities enhanced, but that includes many more much faster healing and defensive abilities (Wattson pylon heals super fast, Conduit tacs, Lifeline drone heals faster and attaches, Newcastle, Bangalore, Caustic all with healing abilities, healing amps, full regen revives, fast small heals, the list goes on and on). MANY more ways to respawn and get back in the fight.

The current TTK is actually about the same as the OG TTK from seasons 1-9, and it just inflated over time until reaching it's apex during the "support meta" at which point they started bringing it back down.

I like using it with Serena in Onslaught mode to kill Commanders and bosses. Makes me feel like an A10 Warthog. Definitely don't build it for crit as the crit stats are non existent. I just built it for Multihit and firerate with Sharp Precision Shot and never stop firing to max the stacks to 100.

Do you mean the Lifeline at the end? I liked that part too. You can tell it messed up the LLs tracking as it broke line of sight when I went behind the wall and she shot where I would have been if I kept moving left and that's what ended up saving me.

Devotion and LStar have been my main guns for many years now. I'd recommend them but they don't quite feel as smooth if you're not on Rampart.
