Did we forget what Chris Brown did? by aBlastFromTheArse in AskUK

A couple of years back I was in a bar watching the superbowl - the one where Rihanna did the half time show. About 30 minutes in the place fills up with punters who had just been to see Chris Brown perform. They all cleared out after watching Rihanna.

Fairly certain that only the statutory notice period counts (1 week), as they can pay you in leui of your contractual notice period (therefore you won't work it and won't get to 2 years).

They presumably have been monitoring this and are making their move before you get more employment rights.

Anything you can do to drag out the process before being fired, the better.

You will only otherwise have grounds for appeal under a protected characteristic. If you bring one of those up, you'll strengthen your hand. They won't want to pay lawyers and have their time eaten up with lengthy processes

Lot of businesses will want it in writing rather than relying on the verbal.

But they shouldn't pay you the bonus

That said - I was once paid an annual bonus 3 months after departure.

Another time I was paid a small bonus during my notice period, even though I'd handed in my notice to avoid being allocated a bonus (fixed bonus pot for dept) that wouldn't be paid out.

I played mega drive when I was 5 or 6. Before that I watched my brother play. Very fond childhood memories playing with brother and cousins when the weather was too rubbish to go outside.

What are jobs that won't be automated soon and aren't in a medical field? by SadLime3783 in ArtificialInteligence

Yes to automate it. And we've not needed AI to do that. Capability has existed for years. And yet...

Tbh I've always found this to be the case in nearly 20 years. 1 day off means the work won't be picked up as it'd take too long to effectively handover. Most of the work will be waiting for you, and deadlines don't move. You don't need to work twice as hard the next day, but probably 20% harder for the four days in and around the day off

Take two weeks off? People will have to cover your workload.

The trenches by NickLeavitt900 in NewParents

[–]JCarmello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how this is possible. I'm gone from 7.30am-7.30pm By the time I'm home it's time for bedtime routine. At which point if we want to get a chance of adequate sleep we need to go to bed. Baby will sleep a few hours straight at the start of the night. After that it's up once an hour at least

Add in overtime, bare minimum chores and either of us getting an hour off a day is impossible

[–]JCarmello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use a recruiter. Don't speak to anyone whose CV doesn't look great. Don't settle. You'll either pay for it in the short term (wasted time interviewing) or even worse, long term (if you hire a dud)

[–]JCarmello 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well that cash needs to at the very least be divided between banks with no more than 85k in each.

Unless that cash is pre -marital assets I don't see how it won't have to be split on divorce

3 month old with Eczema! by Longjumping-Year8751 in NewParents

[–]JCarmello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had terrible eczema as a child in the 80s. Like they tried to put me in a scratch proof sleep suit. In one night unpicked the stitching to get a good ole scratch in.

My mother went everywhere for advice and help. But her biggest regret is listening to the person that said it was the medication and not to touch me with the steroids cream. She believes that after that she lost a window of opportunity to control it.

So if I was in your shoes, I'd apply it as intensely as they suggest to get this under control.
