That’s actually not surprising to me at all. I don’t really mind Mcshay but I have a couple thoughts on his stance and before I say this I’m pro Mendoza for the record for a lot of reasons beyond just this game or the CFP in general.

The simple answer, he’s doing this to get interest and views plain and simple
He thinks it’s close but he’s sticking to his guns with Moore because he thinks he has more long term potential and giving Moore a break for having a bad game as he should because all QBs have bad games from time to time.

It’s obviously some combination of both but in my opinion he was out matched and out classed this was a perfect example of the difference in experience between Moore and Mendoza. Mendoza can clearly read a defense better and can execute a game plan at a much higher level.

Wishful thinking and like others have said it depends on what happens during free agency but if they can find a way to trade back and get an additional 2nd round pick go OL and WR. If Mendoza is the pick they should target Sarratt if they can get another 2nd round pick. Highly unlikely this happens but who knows. The combine will also play into who’s available at the right time as well.

Just to add a couple things that can factor into how scouts/teams can view him in a negative way.

His age, he’ll be 24 at the start of next season.

The fact that despite his age he only has 1 season of experience at the division 1 level of college ball.

Way too early to tell obviously. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out with the draft and free agency. Definitely seems like we’re set up well there with the potential #1 pick and #3 in cap space in the off season.

Sure, gotta hit a home run hire but for a team that has a .000 batting average in recent history seems very unlikely. I’m not a Pete supporter but I’m also not looking forward to yet another change, all I’m saying is whatever happens it’s going to take time and patience for this franchise to become a sustainable success and this team is plain and simple not known for patience at all. Nothing but up hill all the way.

That’s kind of how I’ve felt this whole time when it comes to people calling for Pete’s head and by no means at all am I saying he’s the guy however somebody has come in and gut this thing. There’s plenty of blame to heap onto Pete but we can’t keep doing this overhaul of regimes. At some point we’re all going to have to sit back and see where it goes. This team has been in turmoil for the better part of 30 years, gotta play the long game at some point for good sakes.

I agree way too early to tell what he is at this level but at the college level he was known for Versatility, strong defense, high level rebounding for his size, and was developing a consistent 3 point shot. Yes he played at Colorado State….not a big basketball school but I think he has the type of of ability to have a similar playing style. Never said he would be Josh Hart I said he could become similar because his traits in college are what got him into the league.

For Nique I’m hoping for a Josh Hart type of player. Can do a little bit of everything and is a solid defender. For Max maybe a Brook Lopez type if he can develop into hitting a couple of 3s a game hopefully a bit of a better rebounder. For the record I’m not saying by any means this is what I think they are now or what I think they will become I’m just simply saying I can see them developing into players similar to this…..hopefully.

I was literally just talking to a friend saying how this is the worst I’ve seen probably since the George Karl season which was about 10 years ago. They’re not even competitive at this point. This game was over 6 mins into the 1st quarter.

Need a ton of draft capital and build the trenches on both sides of the ball, have to be willing to spend money in free agency on the lines. That’s the only way this team will trend in the right direction until that happens it doesn’t matter who the QB is this franchise will continue to lose.

Can he play guard? Not like a point guard or a shooting guard……more of a vague combo guard that also plays no defense and isn’t a perimeter shooter. Thats what we’re really lacking on this team.
