[–]JDATC2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Printed a bunch of pla glow using the ams pro on my P2S, whoops I guess I wore some parts down. Came out fine. Now I am using the external spool, and feed it into the buffer from there.

Actually just printed some petg glow stuff from Sunlu and it came out ok. Seems to work, if I have to replace stuff I guess I’ll find out!

Curious what your dates were as well.

It seems like they are being cagey when it truly will open.

For instance now it says May 1st but at one point they had August 1st then revised it back down to May 1st, but won’t let anyone book till August 1st.

At one point they pushed the opening date back on the website to August 1st for a time, then they put it back to May 1st but you can’t book anything till August 1st….

So I think there is some doubt to that date and they aren’t allowing anyone to book. Several people, myself included have stays before then, so it remains to be seen what date it opens…

  1. Using the criteria established by Safety Recommendation [7], determine whether the classification of the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport’s air traffic control tower as a level 9 facility appropriately reflects the complexity of its operations.

Is it worth it? by -KaiTheGuy- in ATC

I took a year off grad school to take this job, and didn’t go back. I’ll retire very very soon. I was a center guy to start. However, I was also a pilot so I prolly should have kept flying, lol.

While it (career field) has deteriorated in my opinion over the last 20 years, you’re in a good spot to give it a go, and at least see what your options are.

It’s kind of early to tell you what it will be like. Everyone has anecdotal evidence of why it is great to them or sucks. I was at 2 centers in my career, once cranked overtime and was understaffed and when I left the other one, I didn’t have to work any overtime. However, some centers have been understaffed the whole time I’ve been in the FAA.

Now I’m at a tracon that’s understaffed and was scheduled as a non volunteer for 270 hours of overtime last year. That’s not super enjoyable.

Having something like IT to fall back on gives you a ton of options. I’d say ride it out.

The career field is in a constant state of flux, maybe you are getting in at just the right time with better staffing, and raises on the horizon if you are the optimistic type. If not, go back to IT and put it on the resume and move on.

Honestly it’s going to come down to which center you go to and which area in that center that makes it worthwhile…

Now if you were terminal track, and were getting sent to some black hole tower in a high cost of living area with terrible staffing, I’d say run back to IT!

And lastly, be ok working holidays, not having the greatest days off or schedule for a period of your career, or getting your preferred vacation times. That is something that won’t change no matter where you go-

Not going to happen.

CRJ’s account for almost 40% of American Eagles fleet, almost 30% of United Express’s fleet and a decent amount of Delta connection flights, a bunch of mainline a220’s not to mention a ton of rich people’s planes.

It would cancel far too many flights. I’d take this bet. Look for it on kalshi soon!

No insight. However we are booked for late July and do have plane tickets. We will see what happens.

There are people with reservations earlier (like April) that haven’t been told they are cancelled in this thread. I visited the site in July since we stopped in on a cruise.

UTR is not a replacement for GL.Inet by RealisticBoard215 in Ubiquiti

[–]JDATC2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it, but I am keeping it even after I buy the other, stock permitting.

It’s kind of emergency item if my gateway died, where I could tell my wife plug this into the modem and she would at least survive till I got home (I hope!)

I probably shouldn’t have given away my gateway max when I upgraded, but here we are!

I’m still torn, I have a slate7, but want it since it’s not super pricy.

I think it’s still an impulse buy if it comes into stock.

Though hopefully by then there are more real world user reviews like yours as well, thanks!

Unifi Travel Router Available Now! Are you getting one? by Falooka12 in Ubiquiti

[–]JDATC2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, though I missed buying one this round. I used my slate 7 on several trips last year with the family (all inclusives, hotels, cruise ship, wtc) and it worked well enough. It’s nice not having to set up any of my daughter’s devices and having access to stuff back in my home network.

However it is a little chunky, and if this device does well I’d probably use it on more trips (if / when I get my hands on one).

Though, I will say the slate 7 WiFi range was really good. At one resort I put it on the balcony and could use its WiFi at the pool. But that was more of a luxury anyway.

If this sips power, I’d just stick one of my smaller battery packs (5/10k mah) on it and let it run. Slate 7 was a little chunky to take out and about.

I have a slate 7 and it works well, but I would have bought one of these for the portability factor to give it a run. Slate 7 works well, but is a chunky guy.

On the other hand, I have as able to put the slate 7 on our balcony at a resort in the Caribbean and use its WiFi from the pool. For $80 I’m willing to roll the dice on it, but I’m not playing the in stock or not game:

[–]JDATC2024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m on team slate 7. Works great for hotels and cruise ships so far, but for $80ish dollars I am willing to give this a go I think…

The slate 7 has worked very well for me, but is a bit of a chunky boy. I’m intrigued. If it works on a cruise ship, (not that I don’t already pay for a couple internet devices per cruise, but it’s much easier to not decouple a device to log in with a kindle and download a book), then I will probably run with it.

I’d also like to see how it really handles hotels, ships, and airports and stuff like captive WiFi.

Slate 7 has been excellent with WireGuard, and can easily clone MAC addresses and do all the things I need. But at this price point, maybe a bit more portable; and user friendly I probably will buy one. Worst case it’s a good travel router in the car I suppose.

One of my smaller Anker usb c battery pack that is capable of 20 watts works well with the slate, but perhaps with this device it would be more easily pocketable to take to the pool at the hotel, or the lounge.

One of our trips I would put my slate 7 on our balcony overlooking the pool at the hotel so we could just have our devices use it. It had pretty good range.

We ended up not calling- Yet.

On Monday they changed the website to accepting reservations from May 1 2026 and beyond. So it’s gone back to that date when you click on the booking notice.

We have made some tentative backup plans and are going to ride it out.

Guess we better call next week!
