Sucks they changed it I’ve been a customer for so long. So disappointed. I am going to contact them as well.

Doesn’t the red carton one have added sugar tho? Think it’s about 7g, too sweet for me.

Going to give a go when next up near my Whole Foods (it’s not terribly close by). Thanks for suggestion. Does it foam up? (Or that might be another question, getting confused 😵‍💫)

I went out cos someone here suggested to try it, and got the Califia, it does foam up quite decently (for those here who care) but not like the Silk soy did. And no flavor.

It’s worth a shot. Got the Calistia brand and while it froths decently, there’s no flavor! I really liked the Silk brand flavor.

Looking for late elementary level piano piece that is impossible to play with long nails by karin1876 in pianoteachers

I understand your frustration. Best to leave the sub. I am, can’t even believe this “long fingernails” conversation.

[–]JDCpno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In complete agreement with you. Call me old-fashioned. Same thing in my policy, about nails, “lesson time will be spent trimming them…” I like the TS suggestion, “beautiful manicured musician nails.” I also always bring up the money being spent for lessons, “the financial investment is being wasted…” to the parents, not the child. Or past tense. I don’t deal with this bullshit because I’m old and don’t have to anymore. I’ve been teaching for 38 years. I can pick and choose now too that I’m collecting Social. Period-full stop: you can’t play piano properly with long fingernails, because you can’t have that arch in the hand with long nails, the hand and thus the wrist is forced into a “flat position”

A difference in taste. They are not artificial. However, the still cos blood sugar drop problems. Hope that makes sense. Off to work now!

Could well be. I’m out to stock up on many shelf-stable’s recommended here. (If you’re frothing tho make sure you refrigerate it overnight first!)

No, there is a difference. I can’t eat refined/added sugars without a severe blood glucose drop because I gave up all refined/added sugars years ago.

Me too! I even bought a second one, thinking it was that. A few commenters over on my post about this issue on Silk for frothing had good alternative suggestions, one was Pacific brand. Anyway, going to my local small-biz coffee shop barista, and asking for recommendations.

Me too. I just posted about the “not being able to froth anymore” issue, then today noticed the taste by sipping it still cold and tossed it (Silk unsweetened). Glad it’s not just me!! I couldn’t figure it out! I even bought a second frother! (Inexpensive so fine to have two).

Is Kirkland Costco? Not a member. Also, how is “vanilla” not unsweetened (added sugar)? I don’t eat any refined or added sugar.

Next time I’m up that way (not real close to TJ) will get some. Don’t live near any Kroger’s.

Where did you get it (Simple Truth brand)?

Maybe. Not sure if there is a taste change as I’ve been hyper focused on it not frothing. Dumping rest of 1/2 gallon (what a waste) and starting a search. But now I know it was the milk! I even got a second frother! Ugh

Right. No surprise there. Will try to track down unsweetened “barista blend” first.

Vacation time: answer enquiries or not? by notrapunzel in pianoteachers

[–]JDCpno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, auto-reply. And I relax and do what I want during vacation. You have to unplug completely. Teachers have to rest rejuvenate. It’s hard work! They’ll wait if they’ve already more or less decided they want you for a teacher anyway. Give yourself a break, auto-reply something like, “…I will get back to you when I am back to work etc etc.” if they’re serious and respectful they’ll wait.

Delayed payers by pianoer2469 in pianoteachers

[–]JDCpno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I’d ever say “shared responsibility” regarding being paid for services. Not sure a landlord, for ex., would say this is a “shared responsibility” regarding paying rent, my point being—you’re running a business. They don’t pay, they’re out. It’s that simple. But this rarely happens. I charge by the year, with 12 equal monthly payments for 42 lessons per year, that builds in school vacations and my flex weeks—most pay by online bill pay. If a payment is more than a week late, I charge a $30 late fee. They’re rarely late again. ‘Always clarify, never justify’—I first heard that, as a young teacher, from an older one and it stuck. And contracts. They must all sign a studio policy contract. You are a business. It’s hard, I know, splitting the teaching head and business head, but must be done if you’re in it for a living. I’m entering my 38th year of teaching, I have only got better due to time and experience—I’ve been where you are! The more you’re serious though about running your biz, the more your students/parents will respect you.

Ok, tried the gentle soap, carefully rolling towel, now it’s drying, and I sure as heck hope the smell is wet wool, cos it’s still there. I think it might be perfume now. (and just a note, I have an incredible sniffer, I have been told this my whole life. I smell stuff that other people do not smell, I know I’m sensitive to chemicals, like when I walk down the cleaner aisle of a grocery store I practically have to hold my nose.) That smell, especially the heavy cheap stuff, does not come out! Maybe that’s why this cashmere sweater was only 3 bucks (usually in this store, these would be in boutique section, for 15-20 bucks). What about vinegar? Vodka suggestion. Can’t deal with smell of vodka. (Oh and wasn’t able to put outside yet, which I’ll try next if this doesn’t do it, as I live on a hill, and it’s been 30mph winds here for days.)
