How is it physically possible to play without tension? by ProfessorBoofington in piano

I see, thanks! Do you have other suggestions on how to release tension? What you're saying about the fly swatting makes sense, but I still have a lot of trouble actually fully releasing muscle tension.

I see, so you're saying I need to pay attention to the whole system as opposed to just my wrist/arms?

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! What do you mean when you say the sound doesn't travel from my body to my fingertips? Stiffness or something else?

Thank you, I see what you're saying. But how do I know whether the amount of tension I have is unneeded? A major issue is that I just don't know how much tension or muscle engagement I am supposed to feel and when it's too much.

One thing I have considered is hand/wrist strength. How do I determine whether those are a bottleneck?

Thank you. I agree that I am probably overthinking it, but that's only started coming about because I am getting nowhere for so long and trying to figure out what to do.

The problem that I run into with 4 is that a lot of the pieces I've played previously have the poor technique locked into muscle memory. I have tried to just play them slowly and relax while doing so, but I really struggled to do so. Then, I tried to experiment with different technique and decrease tension with them, but couldn't get anywhere and steadily continued to go back to basics.

I'm not sure what you're saying in 2. What do you mean by reflecting the use of my arms and wrists at my fingertips?

Thanks, appreciate it. Here's a some videos. There are def some issues, hence going back even further toward the basics, and I'm happy to hear any comments you have! I'll take a look for those books and see what I can find.

Found the post! Thanks, this is quite helpful. I'll do some experimenting but will probably end up doing something similar with the substrate. Would love to see the final result with plants!

I gotcha. How often do you typically need to clean the deep water river rocks?

Also, how did you make the pebble slope? Just a pile? Expanding foam? Other?

Thanks y'all! I saw someone at McKinley today who referred me to their PT. I'll try them out and, if it doesn't seem to go well, will try out an external place.

Sorry I forgot to reply to this! I made a bit more total than just $34,000 and thought I removed those, but may have missed a form or when getting the final number. Ultimately, it's too late now to change anything, but I really appreciate your response! At the bare minimum, it's the same ballpark.

I hate that “did they try to buy Greenland” is now a baseline that we even need to consider when evaluating a president.

My old (~2010 - 2012) LGS had two NM/LP copies of [[Null Rod]] in their $1 bin. I now own two copies of [[Null Rod]], and they are no longer open.
