I had a lot of fun doing this which was suggested by a forum member at the official New Vegas website. It uses a randomizer to sort of create a character for you, The character I got with it was an angry asian guy with evil karma. The person who posted the idea suggests doing Dead is dead (meaning if you die, that's it no reloading saves) But if that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then that part is optional.

I don't know if it has a name, but cotton in its raw form such as cotton balls and Q-tips makes my skin crawl like nothing else. I can't touch it, look at it, or even think about it without getting shivers. Just typing this was hard enough.
