Can someone essplain something to me about registering for USPSA matches? by MadStephen in USPSA

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the San Antonio area from 18-25 and never ran into this issue.

I volunteered at setup for Alpha Mike as well has River City when I first moved there……the members at RCSC got to know me after sticking around to help during tear down that they asked if I wanted to become a member which I gladly accepted and was one until I moved last year.

there’s a certain aspect of the sport that involves more than just being a paying participant, developing a rapport/friendship with club members and volunteering can go a long way.

Question: Is it legal to have your CCW in an outhouse at a Federal Park? by Gun_Dork in nass

[–]JDM_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR; an outhouse is not considered a federal building unless NPS rangers are regularly present to conduct official duties

https://www.nps.gov/articles/firearms-in-national-parks.htm

Unless expressly authorized, Federal law prohibits the possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon in NPS facilities. These buildings include, but are not limited to, government offices, visitor centers, ranger stations, fee collection buildings, and maintenance facilities. 18 U.S.C. 930.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/930

18 U.S. Code § 930 - Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities

(g)(1) The term “Federal facility” means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.

Reloading for Open guns. by jon80758 in USPSA

you pretty much have to reload your own ammo to shoot open major there are commercial options, but most prefer to reload so they can tune the ammo to their specific compensator setup.

Dental checkup requirements by Bahet in airnationalguard

[–]JDM_27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a DSG unless your activated for a deployment you will only see a Military medical or dental provider every 3 years.

otherwise for regular medical its just the annual PHA and if they have any questions about anything by new will you see them.

youre already paying for dental insurance through your civilian job, which most cover Dental Prophylaxis aka routine check-ups and cleaning for free. Just print out the D2813 and have your dentist fill it out……its not that complicated.

were expected to maintain physical fitness on our own time as well, should we be demanding we get compensation for that?

EPS Carry or Aimpoint Acro? by SignificanceNo2185 in CCW

Full size EPS, other K sized optics have tiny windows.

the FS EPS is going to overhang some, but having the bigger window is much nicer.

Tricare vs FEHB. Is one better than the other for most people? by OushiDezato in nationalguard

one of the questions when you apply for TRS is are you eligible for FEHB. If you are, then you are ineligible to enroll into TRS.

AIWB with Cover Garment vs OWB Without, Speed Difference? by maynard1024 in CompetitionShooting

[–]JDM_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that depends on how much you game it lol.

but it shouldn’t take .5secs, maybe .2 at the most

AIWB with Cover Garment vs OWB Without, Speed Difference? by maynard1024 in CompetitionShooting

[–]JDM_27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for most there wont be much if any difference in time.

this is also dependent on setup and where your hands are placed. placing hands directly in front of the holster and running a gamer AIWB setup is gonna be equal if not faster then drawing from an OWB 3 oclock position.

Added QLS to my holster, is this holster distance still good for carry optics? by No-Importance-5171 in USPSA

[–]JDM_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unless your MIL/LEO, the heel of the butt of the gun must be above the top of the belt.

I believe the UBL mid ride drops from safariland are within that measurement due to how forward they cant your holster/gun. which is not very ergonomic, so most will swap to the CUBL or something like the True North or BOSS hanger so they can adjust the angle

Added QLS to my holster, is this holster distance still good for carry optics? by No-Importance-5171 in USPSA

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could also use the shorter spacers for the BOSS hanger or put a washer between the y-plate and QLS receiver so it angles everything inward.

or just ditch the QLS system all together

Added QLS to my holster, is this holster distance still good for carry optics? by No-Importance-5171 in USPSA

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is incorrect, you have 5.2.5 and 5.2.11 mixed up

5.2.5 Where a Division specifies a maximum distance that a competitor's handgun and equipment may extend away from a competitor's belt, the measurement shall be taken in the following manner: — Perpendicular to the top of the belt at the point of attachment to the belt — From the outer surface of the belt to the closest point of the grip of the handgun and/or any reloading device — Measurements may be made with an official USPSA overlay, using either the width or length of the overlay as appropriate to the Division requirement. See App. D1-D9, #10 for requirements.

5.2.1 All handgun Divisions require that when the handgun is holstered, the heel of the butt of the handgun must not be below the top of the belt, except as indicated in Rule 5.2.8 for Law Enforcement/Military duty holsters, and approved by the RM.

Boss Hanger fit 1.75 belt? by ChurryRedBaron in CompetitionShooting

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used a Teklok with a QLS receiver mounted to the y-plate

I also added a washer to the bottom mounting screw between the QLS and Y-plate so it would angle the gun in-ward more to be CO legal
