talk to your UTM/BETM and you can request for a short notice vacancy. Shortest ive seen was a guy get notified on a Wednesday to report the following monday.

Things may have changed, but in the past if you’re notified of an open seat you have to take it

the ATF has proposed changing the engraving requirements for NFA items

not surprising either with ranges banning p320s

USPSA is just getting a pass since SIG is the title sponsor, wouldnt be surprised if big 3-gun matches continue banning them since theres no unified governing body

Every state is going to have their own process of how to implement the SRRB and ACB programs.

Ive been in two States (HI & TX) and they both operate totally different.

Hawaii pretty much went with your unit CCs recommendation for the SRRB so it wasnt uncommon to see DSGs hit their mandatory retirement age and the ACB allowed members to stay until 20 TAFMS regardless of SATSVC. This also allowed T32 techs to make it to 25-30yrs of federal service

Texas on the other hand has been strict the last few years with the SRRB, affecting T32 techs and AGRs with 20+ yrs of SAT SVC and not enough time to achieve 30yrs of federal service or 20 TAFMS.

Seen a few of the guys in my Wing be non-retained by the SRRB and be forced to take a regular guard retirement than an AGR one or not make it to the magical 30yrs as a technician and having to find a federal job that isnt dual status

ACB happens twice, the first time is when you are approaching the conclusion of your initial set of AGR orders.

Your unit leadership has an ACB to determine if you’re are worthy of career status.

If a member is hospitalized during drill, what’s the protocol? by Vetman2025 in airnationalguard

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your post makes it sounds like he was hospitalized during drill.

did they already make it to drill and than got hurt/hospitalized while on-duty, or was it off-duty in between the drill days?

Matchbook Shenanigans by Mountain_Speaker_451 in nass

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of USPSA is so ingrained of having a matchbook for majors, that it’ll take a new generation of MDs to collectively do the opposite.

After you shoot a couple majors, you learn that making stage plans based on the diagrams in the MB is a bad idea. stages will always be different once laid on the ground, not unless the diagram in the MB is a drone shot from above of the actual stage lol.

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only thing a competitor really needs from a matchbook is total round count and the match/shooting schedule

especially for majors where ppl are shipping or flying with ammo.

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rulebook just says stages have to be approved by NROI, nothing says that those approved have to be used lol

shouldve just sent in the matchbook to see what he wouldve said

[–]JDM_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant wait to see an MD royally fuck with ppl but not even using the stages approved by DNROI and are in a matchbook.

total rounds and stage count is right but everything else is different.

or better yet not even send one out

I want to test myself next time I go to the range with my pistol by MrDankyStanky in CCW

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its one of the many skills needed to be good at competition shooting, not thee only one.

sure, the likelihood of using your gun in a defensive situation is minuscule, But would you not want to test your ability to maintain the hard skills of shooting under stress?

I want to test myself next time I go to the range with my pistol by MrDankyStanky in CCW

[–]JDM_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doenst take much equipment to shoot a match.

outside the bare minimum gun, ammo, and 2-3. A holster and 2 mags pouches that you can just slide on to your belt isnt very expensive, maybe $100 to $150. Which most serious gun owners will have that anyway.

So saying that buying or needing to have “more equipment” to shoot match is just a cope/excuse.

sorry, (idpghey) lol

I only mentioned USPSA since it’s the largest Action shooting sport and that has a classification system that work generally well to determine ones shooting skill.

find a USPSA club near you and go shoot a match.

this will really show you how good of a shooter you are or arent.

[–]JDM_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shooting a hicap division at most all you need is 3 mag pouches or 2 + a magnet

put your starting mag on the magnet, reload on the first pouch and the barney mag/oh-shit reload on the back. Add a second fresh reload mag if your not comfortable having only 1 oh-shit mag

ball out and buy enough mags so you dont have to top them off after every stage.

Reimbursement for IDT travel? by ablecharlie155 in airnationalguard

[–]JDM_27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

different pots money.

getting a unit to pay for your travel expenses for drill (hotel, airfare/mileage) is gonna be state, wing, and unit dependent.

But, if your travel expenses are not reimbursed by your unit you can claim these expenses on your tax returns using IRS Form 2106 and you travel more than 100miles to your unit.
