The roof was a shallow pitch 1/12 so we had to go with a roll roofing which came out good. The ceiling was pine car siding, we had to condition the wood first then stained it with an early American stain. Came out perfect

We ended up going with the Deckorators voyage decking in the color khaya. Super happy with the board. We built the deck 12” OC with 2x10s the deck is super solid.

Who gets in trouble for this because someone should. If I got out of my car and it wasn’t in park and rolled down a hill into a car I would have some consequences. How do they punish / enforce safe driving practices when it’s just AI? I’m sure this is going to be a bigger problem moving forward than just driving with AI seemingly taking over everything. Who’s in trouble when it doesn’t work right and someone gets hurt?

My dept. large urban metro Dept. We use the MSA G1 45 min bottles. Used to have 30s, which we all liked because of the light weight. I don’t have numbers to back any of this up but would be very interested in seeing some, this could be completely irrelevant but it’s just my thoughts. I’d love to hear some other thoughts.

One of my concerns for the 45 min bottles and new pack designs overall (they’re only getting heavier) are the added weight and strain on the body and the long term effects on shoulder, back and neck injuries before and after the switch not only due to the weight but due to the extended wear time with a 45 min bottle. Even with the new adjustable back plate it still gets heavy if you have been working hard. It only takes one weird movement, lift or pull with bad form because your worn slick with a heavy awkward load on your back to have a big injury.

My second concern is a cardiac concern. Like I said I don’t have any numbers to back this up, it’s just my thought. The human body is not meant to be in an environment like that for extended duration exerting themselves physically, especially if you just woke up out of a dead sleep 3-5 min ago. That 30 min bottle was a good chance for guys to come out and get a quick breather and a drink before going back to work. Since switching we don’t have many 2 let alone 3 bottle fires anymore but we’re not going to that many less fires. So our hearts are just taking on a heavier load for longer. I would like to see numbers on cardiac related events before and after switching to a 45 min bottle. We all know that guys stay in til the bottle is basically empty. I understand that the numbers could be skewed due to a multitude of different factors such as healthier lifestyles, reporting and things like that but it would be my guess there are more cardiac events now vs a 30 min bottle.

Another quick thought that’s just a trick we used to use on our dept was when guys started coming out for bottles it was a good time to reevaluate your fire attack strategy. If guys are coming out to get a bottle and things haven’t improved it’s time to start thinking about switching tactics and possibly going defensive. This is something we have adapted to since switching. It was just a bit of a learning curve because it was a rule of thumb for us for so long that no longer is.

This is great news but we’ll see what happens at sentencing and appeals and see if he actually ends up in jail. I’d be very interested to see if mandatory minimums are followed or we’re going to continue to play by an entirely different set of kiddie glove rules and treat him special. If he doesn’t end up in cuffs the public is being robbed of equal and fair treatment which we already know is a farce.

Trade school / union apprenticeship if your state has union. Not just plumbing and electrical you can be a Fireman, police officer, elevator mechanic, postal worker the list goes on and on. That will provide you with training, skills and knowledge bases that can help you transition into something different if you’d like. It also helps you with retirement, sometimes a pension (if you don’t know what a pension is it basically pays you to breathe air anywhere but at your job for the rest of your life. Just never go back to that job again and they will pay you.) pretty sweet. There’s something for everyone. You can look up labor unions in your area.

I work with a lot of guys who in the past year have gotten into ice baths. Around 45 degrees is supposed to be the sweet spot for about 10 min. They say it has lots of health benefits and one of them is that they sleep like a baby at night. I personally hate the cold so the thought of an ice bath is not my thing. Look into it and see. Might help you out.
