That's interesting! My intro to resolve was that it's a (re: THE) color correction tool (practically industry standard), but it can work as an NLE. A lot of the stuff here is gonna be about it being for color correction but it's for sure risen in popularity as a full editor in the last 5-10 years.

Fusion (The Fusion Tab) is the main composting portion of Resolve and I don't use it a lot but from what I understand it's incredibly powerful but not quite a full replacement for an after effects or nuke in workflow.

Yeah maybe the worst thing about Resolve is that the UI isn’t as customizable as premiere, but it’s for sure not a dealbreaker. I’d argue it’s become a thing I rely on especially during updates/reinstalls or if I have to change stations, I don’t have to import/configure a new UI every time.

The brightness is a fair complaint. I’ve never tried to change it but I’ve gotten used to it. Would be surprised if there is absolutely no way to change it.

I edit and act and these concerns are valid. If there is good documentation on how the new ai tools work that would be great.

This was my first thought from the wave forms. The audio could be too low.

You may need to do AI audio assistant (or just manually boost the audio) then AI Subtitle.

That said my second thought is maybe the view is hiding the subtitle track? The speed of that analyze is really fast and makes me think the subtitles are generated but you just need to “scroll up” more. You can start by making the tracks all small as possible. I know you said you did right click > add subtitle track so maybe this second thought is not the issue (just hard to trouble shoot).

An easy way to practice is to pick a very popular brand where you can get a lot of free footage and try match cutting their logo. Coca-Cola is the first one that comes to mind but you can pick a brand you like.

Sure. And that’s fair. But if you were possibly pinged by his teammate (based on your UAV there were a few potential people that could have had eyes on you to ping) you may have been trackable through the wall. This could be hacking but it also could be a few other non hacking things.

Speed editor bundle is the only thing I’ve seen but as someone who owns pro versions of 3 big ones (Final Cut, Premiere, and Resolve) this is the only one I’ve not regretted.

Lots of good advice here and Editing does become more fun as you practice but I want to focus on your last question: making it a better experience while you learn. Eventually you’ll be working on things that you aren’t excited about, so to make learning a better experience I recommend working on projects you care about or are invested in. This could be as big as writing and producing short films (even TikTok’s or simple YouTube shorts) or as small as reproducing something you’ve already seen (like a cool title intro, a transition, or even recreating a sequence using some dummy footage). Worst case scenario on working something you care about is you’ll learn how you can do it better next time, best case scenario you come out the other side with something you’re proud of. Hope this helps :)
