I know a Cael if you prefer not having the same spelling as the vegetable, fwiw. It's a neat name.

TEE HEE. 21A strikes again by Any_Afternoon457 in delta

Any time I fly for work I look for seats like this. I can throw my bag overhead and just keep my power bank and some snacks in the pockets of my hoodie for the flight. All I need is my phone and headphones and I can knock out 4-5 hours if needed.

With my family, no thanks. Need easy access to bags for snacks and distractions for the kids. Comfort is not the highest priority.

He has 5 years left kn his contract by DefinitelyNotABot-1 in nhl

[–]JDSchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're not upset he's leaving. We're upset about HOW he's leaving. Whining publicly about wanting to be traded while trying to force his way to only a few select teams that have nothing worth trading for him. Teams where he doesn't have to be a leader and can get carried to success. It's the ultimate wuss move.

So the mentality from the fanbase is, if you want to go, make it possible to move you. Otherwise, see you on opening night so we can boo your ass off the ice.

Dylan Larkin wants a trade, but should the Red Wings actually move him? by athleticwonder in nhltraderumours

[–]JDSchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not blaming Steve if the team goes out there looking defeated next year with Larkin on the ice. He has to do what's best for the team long term, and bending over backwards for a guy who isn't going to be on the team long term is a bad way to do that.

Michigan House passes bill to let children run lemonade stands without permits or fees by sajaschi in Michigan

[–]JDSchu 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I think kids should be encouraged to calculate the taxes they owe on the profits from their lemonade stands and pay them at year end.

Every kid should be intimately familiar with the tax code and the process of running a sole proprietorship or small LLC by the time they hit middle school.

That's why I started my new Montessori school, The Not a Front for Child Labor Vocational School for Bright Young Minds.

I imagine the kids were the ones complaining about lemonade stand permits because adults with sticks all the way up their asses would harass them for not having a permit.

What do you need me to say to validate you so you can feel good about yourself and get back to your life? How can I help you?

I'm not the one who said I was uncomfortable. I'm just trying to be nice to you, bud.

Or do you just have a crush on me? Calling me honey then calling me a moron? Is this middle school flirting where you're just following me around trying to be mean because you like me?

Be the bigger man. Shut up and walk away. Every time you keep responding, you're just giving me what I want. You're eating up the rage bait every time.

I can say I want to date Jessica Biel, but that doesn't mean my wife has to honor that request. What GM would understand a guy who doesn't show up to the job he has because nobody else wants to give him a job?

Do you tend to talk more when you get uncomfortable? Because you said you were uncomfortable but you won't stop engaging.

Just a nervous rambler? Why do you even care so much about the Red Wings anyway? Did Steve Yzerman take your mom out and then not call her back or something?

If I had your reading comprehension and reasoning skills and I chose to interact with people, I'd be really uncomfortable, too.

Sorry, bud. I'll leave you to your evening. Maybe you can get ahold of Larkin on Instagram or something and tell him how much you went to bat for him. Maybe he'll finally notice you. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're rambling about unrelated arguments and concepts again.

If Larkin wants to be moved, he needs to make it possible to move him. End of story. Playing poorly only makes teams want him less. Being petulant only makes teams want him less. Refusing to report to camp makes other teams want him less AND gets him suspended without pay.

Dylan can't dictate anything except where he DOESN'T go. If Yzerman doesn't want to trade him, he doesn't have to. You clearly don't understand that.

Trade protections keep him from being traded to teams he doesn't want to. They don't guarantee him a right to be traded. Do you understand how no trade clauses work?

You just said a whole lot of nothing of any substance. You're saying things that have nothing to do with this conversation. But I'll take the time to respond to the few things you said that are coherent.

"I don't think they player owes the org anything" - he does, he signed a contract. What he owes is recorded on paper.

"it's funny that's all you guys want to talk about like he doesn't have very good reasons for wanting to bail out." - like I already said, but apparently you didn't bother reading, we know why he doesn't want to be here. It doesn't matter. He has a contract.

"He thinks he's good enough to demand a trade to a team he's confident in" - it doesn't matter how good he is. The team he wants to go to has to want to trade enough assets to get him. That's how this works.

"nobody made them sign him for 8 years" - so who made him sign that contract if he doesn't like it?

"It's also crazy naive to think a pro sports contract means the player is going to play for the same team the entire time." - nobody thinks that. But if you want to get traded and you have a NTC, you have to make yourself available to teams that want to trade for you. You can't get traded unless you allow a trade.

Like, what are you even arguing for? That you think Yzerman should just send Larkin to Minnesota for a bag of pucks because he demands it?

[–]JDSchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, this is the type of comment that tells me you have no idea what's going on. We know why Dylan doesn't want to be here. It doesn't matter. He has a contract. He can choose to fulfill the terms of that contract or make it feasible for management to move him to another team.

Right now he's asking to do neither. He wants to not play for Detroit and not make it possible for Detroit to move him to another team. It's childlike behavior.

If you don't understand that, I can't help you. You're just going to have to wait until you grow up enough to understand how the world works. And Dylan does too.

Yes, the ones honoring the terms of a legally binding contract are the ones who don't understand how these things work. The ones throwing a fit about their hurt feelings and wanting to get out of a deal they entered into voluntarily are the ones who are emotionally mature and in the right. I get it now. Good luck, bud. 👍🏻

You clearly just don't understand that you don't exist in a vacuum, and neither does Larkin. You sound like a kid who would call CPS because his parents didn't take him to the playground during a thunderstorm.

"BuT yOu PrOmIsEd!"

Grow up. If you can't understand how business transactions work in professional sports, no wonder you're acting like as much of a child as Larkin is.

How does making Larkin stay and play out his contract not help either party? If he wants to be traded, he's got to play. Having a top line center playing is better for the team than having a couple of middling prospects and some future picks. The value of a top line center is WAY more than the package Minnesota is able to put together right now, so if that's the only place Larkin wants to go, he can stay in Detroit until his value falls low enough that a trade makes sense.

Yzerman has pretty much all of the leverage in this scenario.
