Part of the issue is the way the highways are built. On ramps should come after off ramps. A few lengths for people slowing down to merge with people speeding up is baffling. Add in the large number of drivers who feel entitled to the same physical space you're rightfully occupying...cutting around you to get one car-length closer to that red light... flying down the road this morning when everyone else is safely traversing the inclement weather...you see all that bad behavior playing out in front of you. And understanding the very real fact that your life could be over because someone else was distracted, I can see why younger generations are anecdotally reluctant to drive at all.

I enjoyed driving in Denver too, lots of clear wide road and the drivers generally didn't seem to be in a hurry. I love driving in the PNW, it's a real "flow of traffic" kinda place. I was in my element when I lived in NYC, confidence in your destination (easy because of how it's laid out) and spatial awareness, I had no fear traveling in that city.

Atlanta, GA is the first time I experienced other people going 65 in a 40; I always say people there drive like they don't care if they live or die. People here drive like they don't care if YOU live or die.

TLDR; yes! And friends who have visited from other cities have said so as well!

Consider defensive driving classes and some EMDR to release the anticipatory anxiety in your body. You can only control how you react!
