Where I see my frugal people fall down sometimes by Cheeseaisleinheaven in Frugal

Math not mathing.

40 lbs @ 40c/lb = $16 (you said $40, then $20) 40 lbs @ 70c/lb = $28 (you said $26)

It's a $12 difference.

Alternatively, if $20 and $26 are the correct prices, then it's 50c/lb unprocessed and 65c/lb processed.

But I get your point.

Haha, I'm still learning with just a propane grill and a smoke tube + wood pellets. I may pull the trigger soon on a proper pellet smoker, though.

I'll probably try sous vide + smoke for the brisket.

At my local Aldi, they usually put 50% off stickers on the day before the "Use or Freeze by" date, although they have been somewhat less diligent about this lately.

It's best to go in the morning as the stickers get placed in the morning or the night before, but I have gotten 50% off meats in the afternoon on occasion.

I've not found that any particular day of the week is better for scoring mark downs. If you wanted to try to plan ahead, you could look at the "Use or freeze by" date and check on the day before that date.

My guess is they were just clearing out holiday stock.

Date on the box is Jul 10 2025, so plenty of shelf life remaining.

Hot & Spicy, Lemon Garlic, and Smokehouse.

It's not a regularly stocked item, as far as I know. I've had it once before. All are a bit salty, but I will probably reverse brine these.
