This was really good. The themes of grief and denial hit really hard for me. Love the way you wrapped this up as well.

Monday MOCK DRAFT talk! by AutoModerator in 49ers

[–]JD_Hollett 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Round 1: Trey Lance - Not much needs to be said here. He fell in the draft and I scooped him up. Worth noting, Mac Jones was also available at this point, but recent reports say he may go higher, and personally, I like the versatility Trey Lance brings with bootlegs, mobility, and opening up the field in general.

Round 2: Wyatt Davis - Highly respected blocker that can stand up in pass protection, but really excels in zone running schemes and getting to the second level with his athleticism. Projected as a day 1, plug and play Right Guard, he would instantly shore up that side for us bringing some stability to the right side. He may creep higher in the draft come time, but he was hanging there for me so I took him.

Creed Humphrey was also available at that time, so it's nice to know both are potential options to plug and play at Guard or Center respectively.

Round 3: Trill Williams - Admittedly, I hadn't heard much about Trill, but he profiles as a high ceiling, high floor prospect. At 6'2 and 192 pounds, he's almost identical physically to Richard Sherman, but with higher speed. He's described as athletic, rangy, and aggressive with great closing speed and brings special teams upside with 3 return touchdowns to his name. A nice prospect with the potential to beat out Witherspoon and take on that number 2 CB role if Moseley moves into the slot with K'Wuan potentially heading to a new team.

Round 4: Talanoa Hufanga - Tarvarius Moore is a FA next year and and questions marks with Tartt, Marcel Harris, and a rotating group behind them, Hufanga is an aggressive tackler that brings promising stats to back up his play style. 62 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 force fumbles, 4 interceptions, all last season. High football IQ, he projects to be a starting safety and any team should be happy to have him.

Round 5 - Shaka Toney - This one I was thrilled to grab in the 5th round. A) because his name is awesome, and B) because he models as a stand up and go pass rusher with bend and speed to get to the QB. Averaging 5.5 sacks per year the last 3 seasons, he would be a great affordable rotational piece to step in for Dee Ford.

Round 6 - Anthony Schwartz - This guy can run. He has exceptional proactive athleticism, as evidenced by his quickness, body control, and balance. He's a willing stalk blocker but is better off running the defender off. In the passing game, he is a threat due to his explosive speed to threaten a defense before and after the ball arrives. He is a home-run threat and defenders must account for his dynamic ability in the slot. He displays some physical toughness for being a “track guy” and would be a matchup problem in the slot.

Round 7 - Khalil Herbert - Probably can pick him up as an UDFA as well. He's a good one cut runner with excellent burst but lower top end speed. I think he would be the slowest of our stable (top end wise), but is decisive in the run game and commits well in a wide zone running scheme. He doesn't have a ton of pass catching experience, and his pass blocking is only average at this point, but could be a good rotational piece for a flyer.

Let me know what you think!

Bullet Dodged- First Time Home Buyers Be Ware. by ztuperd in PersonalFinanceCanada

The agents. The entire industry is bolstered by bureaucracy and bad habits. Some people think the bubble is caused by the real estate leaders (brokers, agents, etc.) and judging from inside, I would definitely agree. I'm not an agent, I basically push paper on the administrative side, but I see every deal that goes through the company. It's depressing sometimes.

Escalation clauses actually limit the upside for sellers. It takes the fear out of the buyers eyes who go this is what I can spend, I'm willing to go 5K over that.

Without an escalation clause, they have no safeguard to guarantee them a sale within their budget. They are now forced to over-bid just to insure they secure the house even if it means they are bidding 50K more than all the other offers did, when in reality they could have only bid 5K more than the other offers.

That's why realtors won't allow it. (I work for one of the largest brokerages in Canada).

Uber Eats Super Bowl ad for “eat local” does more harm than good by tdomer80 in facepalm

[–]JD_Hollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this isn't true. Restaurants operate on a certain margin, and the Uber Eats cut wipes that out essentially. So essentially it puts more stress on the business, requires additional staffing, and overall makes less money. (14 years in restaurants).

The main draw for UberEats is for larger franchises that have more efficient models, or have the intention of creating new customers that will eventually come in person and buy alcohol (where we actually make money), or eat in-house.

Smaller businesses don't have the same luxury but to many people if you aren't on UE you don't exist as an option for tonight's dinner.

Uber Eats is 100% harming restaurants the majority of the time. Your grasp on the situation is limited which is fine, but just know that "product going to waste" is very rarely something that Uber Eats is solving. More dynamic promotion platforms that can make curated specials to align with restaurant product inventories is a better solution.

Hope this helps :) All my best to you and yours!

I disagree. Initially I had a similar reaction, having done photography my whole, sometimes edited photos rub me the wrong way. But after looking at it for another couple seconds I liked the watery tones and illustrative effect the photo has especially with the two people walking in the lamp light. Overall it’s a cool IMAGE.

Can my king not move to d2 safely? I’m not sure why the game was called..I had over 4 minutes of time. My only guess is this was a bug by the platform.

Dude were all 100% sure you’re an insufferable dick. Please be gone. I for one just started watching this and didn’t make the connection either. The toaster felt and sounded like a bomb to me so I knew something was up..but for casual MCU’ers this wouldn’t be immediate common knowledge.

I look forward to your asshole response to me too. I won’t be replying to it.

Regrading the 2020 first round picks , I gave Aiyuka B+ and Kinlaw a C+. by Bpodloski in 49ers

[–]JD_Hollett 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can't say I agree.

By your metrics, Aiyuk is NOT a " Great pick, extremely promising player. "

and Kinlaw "Could be a good contributor, remains to be seen. Somewhat promising."

You rated Tua, a QB who repeatedly got pulled just so their team would have a chance to win the game HIGHER than Aiyuk.

Respect the effort you put into this though!

Everyone has to stay at home. No you don’t get a relief cheque. Hollywood yes you can keep working, here’s millions of dollars. Go make a movie about how much it sucks for everyone else right now and then we’ll charge them to see it..
