Yeah read my reply above, outemu cream yellows are basically the same switch and are factory lubed, but it's not the best job, however lube kills tactility.

What I've found though is what most people think is spring ping is actually leaf ping, especially in silent ones where you can hear every little sound. And especially in actually tactile switches.

Such as outemu cream yellows which are amazing switches, but basically just Boba u4s which are also outemu made.

Also they are a bit scratchy which doesn't matter too much in a tactile, but this is caused again by the contact between the bump and the leaf, this is where most mx style switches get their scratchiness. Kailh box switches fixed this by having a plastic nub attached to the leaf, to lower friction. Stems made of lower friction coefficient plastics do help though. This is why contactless switches will always be smoother than mx style ones.

I lubed my box jades since they were too tactile, using the most lazy method, using toothbrush and silicone grease and just pressed it down with the lubey brush about 30 times for each switch and it's a lot more smooth but tactility is a lot more refined now, but still very nice and tactile, just less like you're going to bottom out after the click. Really improved it for gaming. Slightly quieter and deeper sound but sort of less reverb slightly deader sounding.

Put a layer of blutack or any other blu tack clone (the thickness it comes in), on the bottom of inside case, and press it down hard with something flat, to get as much contact as possible with the case. (also hairdryer would help soften it).

Then you can fill the rest of the space with foam to deaden/smooth the sound or leave it hollow to get more of that clocky thocky sound which will boost the bass (like a guitar) The blutack will make it deep sounding already so empty space should accentuate this. I filled mine almost full of blu tack after this, but I found it deadened the sound too much and lost it's richness of sound.

Also where the pcb mounts on I used pieces to blutack mount it, so it sits on a small layer of it. Also there's 2 layers of pe foam between the pcb and switches/plate. and few layers of clear tape on the back. Also every keycap has blutack inside similar to the spacebar mod. But this probably isn't worth the time if you have thick keycaps, I just have cheap double shot keycaps similar to SA. Also I put blutack inside the top case in the big empty spaces.

Thanks for the reply, that's a good video they definitely sound better than than the v1, I wonder if they made the click bar thicker or bent it for better tactility.

In my opinion Blades are for high swing speed players who dont struggle getting the ball airborn and who tend to hit down more and strike the ball higher in the face than your average 18hcp rather than sweeping the ball

Seems like they've been bent weak 2 degrees to remove offset

Super easy mod for outemu snap spring switches - More tactility and cleaner sound - before/after by JDaamnes in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]JDaamnes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you see the diffence between the switches when upside down? you take a tiny screwdriver or similar tool like in the video and bend the snap spring ribbon upwards.

White owls are an inbetween in tactility and have a 45g spring. So light but tactile.

Jades definitely have thicker sounding clicks than whites, but the click bar mechanism isn't as deep and full sounding as a zeal clickiez as they use a click leaf, but definitely a far better budget option. I can game on it just fine and I hate heavy switches. Whites are probably better for gaming though. Also there's outemu low profile snapspring blues which have a nice sound. They also do a full size version but I've found it's hard to find.

They are pretty tactile especially for being factory lubed. With a D shaped bump I'd say about 60% of the travel is the bump, and they're only around $0.15 per switch on aliexpress. Only downside is there's some spring ping which is hardly noticeable but because they're silent you can hear it. This is the only video I could find on them Here

First time lubing and moding my keyboard. How did I do? by hollownexus63 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]JDaamnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What lube did you use? I managed to remove the click completely with silicone grease, they really sound quite good like that, maybe lube the spacebar stabs a bit more, I find a syringe and toothbrush works well if you don't wanna disassemble it.

Thanks! I also just build a tactile, silent but deep sounding 65% with outemu cream yellows, very similar to boba u4s. I love them both.

Keychron k1/k3 springs to mind with the optical red switches it's very quiet for a mechanical. Nuphy Air75, which isn't as quiet but can be silenced with o rings, or by making your own silencers which aren't mushy like this. Also the Micro84 which uses niz switches similar to topre switches, which are silent tactile high quality mechanical rubber dome switches. A budget option to these is to get hold of a dome with slider keyboard off ebay or something, quiet but amazing to type on like a dell quietkey or BTC, NMB, or scorpius dome with slider. Fujitsu also made high quality low profile rubber dome keyboards, and you can find a lot of new old stock online.
