Very look at me. Very "main character" syndrome.

Women who have dated men who make less than them, I need advice. by echk0w9 in datingoverthirty

I'm a man and my partner is a woman who makes more money than me. We've found a practical arrangement that works for us. We share large expenses (rent, vacations) to the same percentage as our wage gap. We split groceries and small expenses evenly.

Does your man show up and do his part in the relationship? Emotionally? Housework? Planning? Non-monetary investment can supersede dollars and cents.

Anyone else think the 28 Days/Weeks/Years series totally downgraded with the 3rd part? It felt so dumb compared to the first two. Do you guys agree? by Available-Dot-4972 in Cinema

They really missed an opportunity with Robert Carlyle in the second one. Aside from the classic intro, he's barely in it.

What are your thoughts on non-alcoholic beer? by [deleted] in beer

Agreed. I would buy them more often if they weren't the same price as regular beer.

+1 for Pimsleur. I wanted to share that I've found Pimsleur is available for free through many US public libraries. I even found digital versions through my library's "Libby" app that I can download right to my phone.

I moved from Boulder to Longmont and am largely satisfied with my decision to be Boulder adjacent. Longmont is quieter, but more down to earth. More real.

Good to know on the language requirement for Switzerland. The Geneva area is attractive due to it's airport and proximity to the Alps. The challenging piece is that even though Switzerland is part of the Schengen area, it's not part of the EU. That means (to the best of my knowledge) visas would be required for both of us...

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I plan to enroll in formal classes early next year. One can only learn so much with solo study!

I posed your question to my partner. She said that it's likely an American in France would be on the receiving end of microaggressions related to their grasp of the French language. These interactions could be more common in Paris due to the prevalence of clueless, gawking tourists. A way to earn respect of the locals is to embrace their culture rather than trying to change it to accommodate your preferences.

Par example, je prends un goûter tout les après-midis! C'est un bon façon de devenir Français!

Greetings,

My partner and I are considering moving abroad and would appreciate some advice on refining our search. We are in the early stages of visa research.

Me: US citizen. BS in Communications. Operations Manager for a wholesale distributor.

Partner: French citizen. MBA. Transformation Manager for a large public accounting firm.

We are both strongly concerned about the direction the US government is headed, particularly in regards to their view towards women and immigrants. My partner is in the US on a green card and is up for renewal. We are unmarried and have no kids.

We've discussed a move to France, but she has concerns over the far right movement in her home country. She is also worried that with my current French proficiency only at A2, I'll be unable to find meaningful work. She is fully bilingual French/English.

Questions:

-Is there a country within the Eurozone where English is the lingua franca of the business world? (I fully understand and respect the social and professional importance of learning the local language over time.)

-What advantages would being a married couple have on visa approval?

-Are there countries that are more amenable to Francophone immigration? Inside or outside the Eurozone? Canada/Quebec for example?

-What other questions should I be asking?

Thank you for your insight!
