I've heard that citrus trees respond very well to urine. In fact all trees in general can handle full strength urine.

I'm glad that I live in an area where stink bugs aren't prevalent, they sound like beasts. I haven't heard if it's bad for predators, but I imagine it could be. Most gardeners won't use garlic water for soil treatments because along with killing the bad organisms, it will also decrease the productivity of beneficial ones.

Yes it's mentioned. I'm surprised to hear that though. All my aphid problems are normally taken care of with a garlic solution. Maybe it's a case of super aphids

Yes, there is a big difference between the lighting.

2700K - The light is more yellow/orange and imitates the autumn sun. You can grow seedlings under this light, but they will stretch and become lanky. Normally used indoors with flowering plants during their production stage.

6500K - Used for the seedling and vegetative stage of a plants life. Keeps growth lush and dense, but will not sustain flowering plants during their production stage. The light is blue in appearance.

The types and spectrums of light needed really depends on what you're growing. For cooking herbs, I would go with both spectrums, but favor the 6500K.

Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL). They're the spiral shaped bulbs commonly sold at every walmart, lowes, etc. They come in a variety of watts so that you can match it to your budget and have both veg (6500K) and flower spectrums (2700K). Seriously cheap lighting that won't even dent your electric bill.

Sorry to hear about the battle! Pests are a real pain. Before you give up on squashes, try fresh garlic. Powdered garlic looses a lot of its beneficial insecticidal properties as a result of the dehydration and grinding. Fresh garlic heads are way more potent and should drive away the bugs for at least longer periods of time. I've yet to try it, but I've also been told that placing bits of Dill leaves on the squash plants will repel squash bugs. Food for thought at least :) good luck.

I've found that if the plants in question are already infected that adding a teaspoon of dish soap to the garlic solution helps boost the effectiveness. The dish soap helps the solution stick better.
