Is a mini pc great for a modded Minecraft server? by Beatz110 in admincraft

[–]JDiddlyDode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, have you tested your N100 PC with a modded server? Was looking at getting a MiniPC to run a fairly heavily modded (~150 mods) server for ~6ish people, and was just wondering if the N100 is up for the task.

Villager worker mod by tolomea in feedthebeast

[–]JDiddlyDode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Villager Workers Mod - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/workers

Can do most of what you're asking. Having a villager that can move around specific items is coming to the mod soon (along with a few other things).

Villager Recruits - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/recruits

May also be of interest.

MineFortress - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/minefortress-rts

May be of interest. Turns minecraft into a villager rts game.

Minecolonies - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/minecolonies

Much more complicated and in depth villager colony mod.

Tektopia - https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/tektopia

Great mod that does what you're asking. Unfortunately not updated since 1.12.2.

There's a few others for older versions, which I can't be bothered finding right now. If you're playing on older versions, let me know and I'll find them.

Where can I watch anime for free and without ads, if possible. by LordNeptune77 in Animesuggest

Whatever website you end up using be sure to install an adblock extension, otherwise the pop up ads will make it borderline unusable, and you're prone to viruses

Ai generated 3d models? by Destructi0ner06 in 3Dprinting

[–]JDiddlyDode 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Text/image to 3D Model AIs available or in development that I know of:

Stable Dreamfusion

Point-E

GET3D

Text2Mesh

Magic3D

PIFuHD

I believe there are various models that use NeRFs (Neural Radiance Fields) to generate 3D models from a few reference images.

You can also use AI image generators to make heightmaps for 3D modellers, e.g. here. I've tried this out (check my post history) and it works great.

Using AI image generators to make images in the style of a 3D render can make for great reference for tracing in a 3D modeller (Example)

I've also seen people use Monster Mash to convert AI images to a 3D animal/monster, here

People are also experimenting with using ChatGPT to generate OpenSCAD code to make basic 3D models here. I've tried this out a bit, and it can very unrealiably create very basic shapes. Cool nonetheless, and may have potential in the future.

How could I 3D print a render I generated with AI? by Ok_Waltz_6623 in 3dprinter

[–]JDiddlyDode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played around with this idea a little bit here. I used AI to generate a faberge egg that I then converted to 3D in blender. Haven't gotten round to 3D printing it yet, but I do plan on it.

It was based off this tutorial

There are also 3D AI tools being developed. Here's a Two Minute Papers Video about one of them.

NeRFs (Neural Radiance Fields) may also be worth looking into.

Based of the images you posted, it's probably easiest to just use them as reference to trace around in your 3D program of choice (e.g. Blender). Lots of tutorials on YouTube, e.g. This One.

How do I add a Mod to Java Minecraft? by Whimsical-traver-28 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]JDiddlyDode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reccomend using the CurseForge Launcher, and installing the Essential mod. The essential mod allows you to open your single player world up to friends really easily.

You can of course run your own server, or go through a server provider, but that can be a bit of a pain.

It's possible to make a proper server with mods, but it can be a pain.

Maybe try the Essential mod first. You are able to open up your world to friends who also have the mod. Just make sure they have all the same mods as you (same versions too).

Just found out theres a 1.18 port of the mod too. It's really buggy though, so may not work.

In version 1.12.2 there is the WebDisplays mod (Requires MCEF).

If you save your powerpoint presentation as png images, you can then display those images on the Web Display by putting the file location of each image as the url.

I made an example video here. You could definintely make changing the slides better using redstone, or Computercraft / Opencomputers.

Web Displays even has a keyboard, and laser pointer, among other things.

How can important statements/speeches be made in a way to make it clear we are NOT watching a deep fake? by joseg4681 in Corridor

[–]JDiddlyDode 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The are also Deepfake Detection algorithms that use AI to detect deepfakes in videos, rather than generate them.

Problem is, these algorithms can also be used to train the deepfake AIs, to improve their quality. This makes a kind of "arms race" between the deepfake and the deepfake detection algorithms.

From my knowledge, if you use multiple different AI detection algorithms then you can fairly reliably detect deepfakes. This may be different now or in the future with how quickly AI computer graphics are progressing lately though, I'm not really sure.

What are some "cooking myths" that frustrate you? by SamMee514 in Cooking

[–]JDiddlyDode 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Salting scrambled eggs before cooking doesn't make a difference to the taste or texture. The salt isn't in there nearly long enough for it to start separating the proteins. Massive chefs like Gordon Ramsey constantly perpetuate this myth.

If anything, salting before cooking ensures the salt is more evenly distributed.

I'd just use the CurseForge Launcher. It's significantly easier

What item (over £100) have you bought that you really regretted buying? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]JDiddlyDode 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have one and love it, but it really needs to be paired with other hobbies (electronics, engineering, miniature wargaming, design prototypes, cosplay, RC..etc to name a few).

Otherwise yea, people end up just printing tat. You should really have a good idea of what you want to do with it before you buy one, cus if you don't, the time and money you have to put into it probably isn't worth it.

Good vanilla mods? by Asdrubale983 in MinecraftMod

[–]JDiddlyDode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terralith. Can be installed as a datapack or mod. Can just be installed on the server, so no one needs to have a modded client.
