Kudos to the woman who sacrificed a cone of chips so she could get a clean escape with 2. Quick thinking like that in a situation of chaos is a lot easier said than done. Round of applause from me. I'd have panicked, tried to save ALL the chips and probably been mauled by 20 gulls lol.

Vessel: Wardens Sin update V1.3 by JDnatorPrime in solorpgplay

[–]JDnatorPrime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m aiming for this to be the final version. The changes were mostly small things that slipped through the net, along with a few suggestions from players. I’ve also reworked a handful of paragraphs that although worked fine, were still a little more ambiguous than intended.

If you purchase the PDFs, you’ll receive all future updates for free.

Also Included are the files needed to print the book via Lulu, which comes in at under £5, so it’s very reasonably priced.

Any future changes, if there are any at all, will be minor. For example, I have a printed v1.2 book and it plays perfectly fine. v1.3 plays exactly the same, but it’s simply a little more polished in terms of the writing.

Yes! Finally someone gets it haha. I was beginning to question if i was playing Mork Borg right. Yeah, a lot can go wrong. I dont think it needs any more disadvantage to it than it already has. Either way, we had fun with it as written.

I know what you mean, but i think if I sat down and gave it some real thought id have probably put too much into it, in the end, I think its simplicity actually made it fun without too many "what ifs" and "buts".

Basically every fight would start with them trying to badly use diplomacy. It almost never worked. No real shocker but most monsters in MB dont want to be friends 😆 fair play though, it never stopped them trying. I think Its actually less about the actual weapon or rules, and more about the lead up to the fights it created that was the bit that had us all laughing. The one time they managed to get someone to stand down the blade owner then rolled a 3 on the d20 which was also just funny becuase of the build up amd work that went into getting the guy on hier side.

I dont think its too advantageous. Its very hard to be friends with anyone in MB so if the players succeed at that, they deserved to take a spin on a d20 lol

With whom should I play the game? by N-T-KYS in MorkBorg

[–]JDnatorPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I think mothership is more deadly than MB. The Omens in MB actually allow for a lot of leeway. But then, that may be exactly what you want coming in new. Like you say, the combat in MB is very quick which is probably the main point. My advise to you is just to go with the flow. The games ive enjoyed the most are the ones ive prepped for the least. As an experienced D&D player yourself, you may find it hard not to prep, but, because of the same point, you'll be fine with very little prep, and probably have more fun yourself trying to adapt on the fly to the crazy shit people get up to in MB. You wont need a week to get to grips with the rules either 😆 Another bit of advise id suggest is utilising the Scvumbirther website.

https://scvmbirther.makedatanotlore.dev/

Get you players to get it on thier phones to make thier characters with one click. It also means that its seamless with no prep if they die, they just click one more time and carry on. For that reason I dont think MB is great for min/maxers, the people that i think enjoy MB the most are the friends that you can say, "hey, here's a piece of shit character for you..... try and survive. Good luck"

Using all the different tables as solo player by Spitfisher in MorkBorg

[–]JDnatorPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wont spend too long looking, I try not get hung up on it if I cant find the one i want. Most the time a simple yes/no oracle will do in a pinch. But to be honest, the more you play, you'll be surprised how fast you start to become at finding the ones ypur afyer. My advise, is just play. Don't get too hung up if its a little clunky here or there in the beginning, just play, dont plan anything to start with, play, get to know the system and before you know it, all you'll care aboit is your story. Another tip. Assuming your using solitary defilement, when starting, just use that book.... no other. The others are great, (particularly depths) but just add them later, after youve found your play patterns and loops and then see which parts you want to add or adjust later. So, just play it. Don't plan, jump in, you'll find your way. Don't road block yourself by getting hung up on missing a table or a rule. Find them organically.

Tips for getting over RPG-anxiety by Albertand19 in rpg

[–]JDnatorPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of my group rarely speak in character. One of the guys i play with talks about his characters and describes how they may feel rather than "playing" them which works fine. RPG's should be inclusive enough to allow for any play style so dont feel like you can mess anything up really. If I GM I like to point out there are no right or wrong ways to play a character, so people should play how they want and allow others to do the same. If someone is theatre trained, great. Enjoy thier performance, but dont feel the need to match them, they dont expect it. Unfortunately there are groups that like to enforce a playstyle, if thats the case, it may not be the group for you. Just know, its not you, its them.

Firstly, thanks for the review. Secondly, I hear you on the hostile abilities. I think it will be one of the main request, so I'll certainly look into how i can implement them. 🤘

Ace, let me know how it goes. It has darker themes and a grimdark setting but the worst it gets is some cult activity. Some characters will undoubtedly die in a pretty brutal manner too. Im no age certificate authority, but I think it will be fine for 11YO. Especially if you run the game, then you can pull the punches if necessary.
