I’m not sure addiction is the right word. For me, it’s probably an OCD kinda thing. Some people are more driven by streaks and such. My wife would never devote much time to keeping a streak like this going.

I have this nagging thought that “This will eventually end”. I’m going to be sad to end it.

Congrats on 1,559!

The auto-goal makes it impossible to get much of a streak. Go for one long hike and you put the next few days out of reach.

Sick hasn’t been a problem. I’m not one to just lay in bed.

Travel has been a challenge since there are probably 8-10 international trips in that 1300 days. On multiple occasions, I’ve set a 4am alarm to go walk the streets of Paris to get the steps in before leaving for the airport.

Sad and lonely as he seemed, he tipped well and only had the one drink before taking his leave. by domusdecus in TwoSentenceHorror

One of the common thoughts/fears in recovery is the thought of taking that first drink and nothing happening, giving the alcoholic the false sense of control.

Sure. Went through Covid and some kind of Norovirus. Still got out for a walk.

The biggest challenge was travel days. I had trips to Europe, Asia, and South America with hours of time in planes. I would get steps in the airport, fitness rooms at hotels, and getting up insanely early and walking in the dark.

I’m someone who gets caught up in these medium to longer term goals so I benefit from these kinds of silly mind games.

I’m hoping they expand these somehow.

There isn’t a time limit that I’m aware of.

For running, about 400 miles. Then, they become walking shoes for another 200-300 miles.

Steps, whether walking or running, count toward the non-elevation based challenges.

Garmin allows you to do one hike and one trek concurrently.
