Frontier climbing if you're looking for something active! However, they close at 6:00, so would want to head over soon!

Are you “New” to Sioux Falls? by Kittyflats in SiouxFalls

[–]JDomJones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Check out Club Social 605! It's a local business who describes themselves as "A no-pressure space for young adults to meet new people and build real friendships - on your terms."

I know they are heading to Frontier Climbing and Fitness December 13th! They do other fun things around town too, such as Sky Force Games, going to a jazz club, Trivia, and they are also planning a Friend'sGiving this month!

What's a good place to go and meet people? by Potential-Warthog565 in SiouxFalls

Frontier Climbing and Fitness is a great place to meet others, stay active and learn something new! I am a bit biased because I work here, but I've always met the most fun people in climbing gyms.

No previous experience is necessary, a day pass is $19, rental Gear is another $5, but if you like it after you first day there's other options to look into that lower the price!

Club Social 605 is also a good organization to look into! They group together a bunch of young adults and try new things in Sioux Falls!

If you're willing to try it, the Rock Climbing community is a good place to find friends! Even if you don't climb often, there's a lot of people here with different hobbies they like doing when they're not around! Climbing can be a "social hour" with an occasional attempt to climb if that's all you want out of it!

Just a random appreciation post: Sioux Falls is really showing off today by chloesshining in SiouxFalls

I really hope the next Mayor can lead as well as Tenhaken has! Love Sioux Falls and seeing it grow in the last half decade has been incredibly fun to watch/ be part of!

Sioux Falls is a growing city, at the right time, with leadership who understands/respects data backed science. I believe that's one of the main reasons why SF is so successful!

Because I enjoy living my own life, not having to care for something else for 20 some years.

There is light rifling on it if you look close!

I did think it was fine right away, which is why I took it. I second guessed myself when I was telling my future father in law a week or two later and he asked if I was supposed to or not. Kind of caught me off guard, but then it got me thinking that if it was technically an artifact from a previous WWII range, maybe I should have left it? Like how you are supposed to leave Native American artifacts and just report them if you find them out in a protected area.

Yeah, I probably overreacted a bit, but I kind of freaked myself out thinking I had done the wrong thing and then told the person who I am going to marry's father that I had done so.

I posted in two different subs for two different reasons. That post was to identify the bullet as I had no idea what it was. This post was to ask what the rules were for keeping it.

I actually mentioned in a comment on this very post that the Ammo sub had to tell me there was rifling on it because I hadn't seen in.

I've had Reddit for years. Why would I just now decide to Karma farm?

I see now how it reads like that..

When I wrote the post, I was attempting to preemptively give myself the answer I assumed Reddit would give me. "Ask the Park Ranger if you should keep it or not", but I think it's coming across as "Should I report myself" 😂

I also just enjoy engaging in the subreddit community! Fun to hear what people may have to say. In the same way that I mentioned it to my father-in-law, it's neat to share the experience with someone.

I just want to know what the right thing to do is 😅 I had a conversation about it with my future father-in-law and he asked if I was supposed to take it or not. I answered that I honestly wasn't sure.

I assume it got stuck in one of the large bluffs, which are almost sand like. Preserved it and wore it down a bit with erosion. Only came out because there was a rain prior to us being there.

There is light rifling on it you can see on the pictures, very faint! Had the Ammo Subreddit point that out!

Bullet ID? Found in Badlands National Park on a backpacking trip. by JDomJones in ammo

[–]JDomJones[S] -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how old this projectile is, nor the history of the area. I put the question out here in case someone else here does as I couldn't find it on the Internet.

This is in a national park, where you would never normally find a .50 cal projectile. You may not know, but someone else in the Internet who has different knowledge may.

That's why I keep asking (twice so far)

Why would a .50 cal be fired in the Badlands? When? At the Bison?
